Personal News!
2023 is going to be a bit different for me. I’ve decided to leave
@bbcyorkshire
after many years as sports reporter. It’s been a privilege to do the job for so long and it’s given me many amazing opportunities. 1/2
Today is my first official day as a freelancer. Though I left Look North a month ago I’ve been on leave. As of today I’m no longer staff at the BBC 😬Climbed Primrose Hill to stop and think for a bit…looking forward to what comes next.
So that’s
@RLWC2021
done. It’s been an absolute privilege to work on it with an amazing team on and off screen. To all who’ve watched, and listened, thank you. The final podcast will be dropping soon
What people who really deserve honours are like…
What
@Rob7Burrow
and his good mate Sir Kev have done for MND is incredible. The fight goes on to find a cure.
'He's been so brave and courageous fighting MND'
Kevin Sinfield told
#BBCBreakfast
he's humbled to receive a CBE in the New Year honours alongside his friend Rob Burrow - but it's his former Leeds Rhinos teammate who deserves the award
Huge credit to the Sky team and the team at Telegenic who provided the truck and all the tech staff who put their hand up and worked for free so moments like this could be captured.
So another peak of 1.2m viewers for the England New Zealand semi-final last night…the lionesses may not have fulfilled their dream of winning this World Cup, but they’ve done the women’s game proud and taken it new heights. Let’s hope the game builds on what they’ve done.
Friendship. Love. Team mate.
The emotional moment Kevin Sinfield carries Rob Burrow over the finish line at the end of the first Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon
So much thought has gone into this - the club has been amazing not just in supporting Rob and his family in the past four and a half years, but in looking after their fans and the MND community. Bravo
@leedsrhinos
I know your efforts have been massively appreciated.
Leeds Rhinos have confirmed details of how the club will continue to pay tribute to Rob Burrow over the next fortnight ahead of the next home game against Leigh on 21st June.
You can find more details here
So very sad. I know what a huge influence he had on Rob when they met soon after Rob’s diagnosis. An incredible man and hopefully his legacy will be to find a cure for this horrible disease.
We’re sorry to hear that Doddie Weir OBE has died.
Since sharing his MND diagnosis in 2017, Doddie became an inspiration to many, raising awareness and campaigning tirelessly on behalf of those with MND.
Our thoughts are with Doddie’s wife Kathy, his 3 sons, family and friends.
Amazing to see the Rob Burrow fund pass £150,000 so quickly - it’s only the beginning of the fund raising, but what an incredible way to start. It’s a measure of how well thought of he is.
So excited about this. The live games are great, but the fact highlights from every game will be on the website and app is also huge for the sport. The more eyes we can get on the game the better. Bring it on!
We can't wait for this 🔥🏉
@BBCSport
will be bringing you live

for the next three seasons!
Coming up:
▪️ 15 matches across BBC TV and

Sky Sports today confirms the incredibly sad news that legendary Sky Sports rugby league commentator, Bill Arthur, has died at the age of 68 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
All set for what should be a cracking day of Rugby League at Wembley. History making for the women to be playing here, can’t wait to cover such a huge game for them.
One of the things I love about doing
@SuperLeagueShow
is getting to watch the game and spend time with the players.
@hullkrofficial
Lachlan Coote was cracking company.
The response to Rob’s interview has been amazing. For details of how you can help him and his family check

Ladies in red! Great fun co-hosting with
@HelenSkelton
last night. Hats off to the team
@leedsrhinos
for pulling together such a great night for
@Rob7Burrow
Not every interview can be like this but I love what it means to Mikey Lewis to play for his country, represent his family and win the game and that he’s happy to show all of that.
As if running 7 marathons in 7 days, in mostly horrid weather, wasn’t tough enough, the fact all have been well under the 4hr mark Kev set himself is just incredible.
Not normally one for replica shirts, but this one is very special. Well done
@Rob7Burrow
children, Macy, Maya and Jackson. The message in the collar says it all.
❤️ "Enjoy your Rugby League, we do."
The late, great, Harry Gration.
He was the first ever presenter of the

A pleasure to award Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield with their CBEs at Headingley today. Thank you both for your incredible efforts in raising awareness and funds for Motor Neurone Disease. Both true heroes of the
#MND
community and the Rugby Football League.
Magic Weeknd done, really enjoyed it. Highlight, meeting and interviewing Hamish and Ben about the

Have to say, one of my highlights of the weekend, was seeing Macy and Maya walk out with Ash, and also seeing how many fans were wearing what is a very special shirt.
Someone will be lifting this in a few hours time, it won’t be me!!! Very special to be presenting the coverage of the first women’s challenge cup final to be played at Wembley - BBC2 from 1130.
Went for a wander with Mr Noble this morning - a beautiful place for a morning stroll. Hope you can join us for
@DragonsOfficiel
v
@Saints1890
on BBC1 from 2pm. Should be a belter!
So pleased for the whole Burrow family who have campaigned so hard for this.
@Rob7Burrow
said in his first interview he wanted to help others less fortunate than him - a team player all the way.
Just been given a guided tour of York’s new community stadium. It’s very impressive and should be a great venue for both the rugby league and football.
So that is that for the 2023 Rugby League season. Too many people to thank on screen and off it, but a shout out to producer John and the guys
@pdi_media
who do
@SuperLeagueShow
Let’s see what what next season brings.
Back home after a great morning at Headingley. Today had so much of what RL is about, great fans, accommodating players and clubs, and an incredible match at its heart. Gutted we didn’t win, but boy what a brilliant sport RL is
#bbcrl
I know I’m biased but please vote for this documentary. Not just because of Rob and what an amazing man he is, but for what he’s doing for all those others without his profile who are battling MND
Words fail me. Not only the 7 marathons in 7 days, but the times. Unbelievable from Sir Kev and the team behind him.
@Rob7Burrow
has some incredible friends
Seen a few people have a go at Sky for not switching to Headingley when Wolves Catalans was called off. It’s not that easy…you can’t just de-rig at one ground and then completely rig another in a few hours. They simply weren’t given enough time to switch
Pinderfields laid the platform 🙏🏽 now my two little home physios are setting the bar 💪🏽. Still a long way to go but forever grateful for what I have. Hope everyone’s well through this lockdown ✌🏽
What an amazing night hosting the
@Burrow_strictly
with the wonderful
@DanikaPriim
The dancers were incredible, congrats to old twinkle toes himself
@RLBarrieMc10
for winning. Lifted the roof off Headingley!

What a performance from England - across the park. Hats off to Sarina Wiegman for how she’s built this team through the tournament. One more game to go.
What a day. Many congratulations to
@leedsrhinos
but it takes two teams to make a final that good. Surreal without the fans, but your clubs did you proud.
