As Jimmy Anderson’s legendary career comes to an end, here are two other modern fast bowling greats who only got better with time. Imran Khan 1970s: 25M, 98W at 32, 70 SR 1980s: 54M, 257W at 19, 47 SR Sir Richard Hadlee 1970s: 26M, 107W at 30, 60 SR 1980s: 53M, 289W at 19, 48

Clive Lloyd is rightly remembered as one of the best captains ever. He’s criminally underrated as a batsman though. He had an indifferent start to his career. But over time, he got better like a fine wine. Final 87 M: 6,061 runs at 50.1 Final 38M: 2,549 runs at 57.9

Younis & Bishop were two fearsome quicks in the 90s. They were express at their peaks. Unfortunately, injuries destroyed their careers. Younis (Until 1994 Aus series) 33M, 190W at 19.15, 36 SR Bishop (Until 1995 Eng series) 24M, 110W at 21.33, 48.7 SR They were the best.

I read someone on Twitter say Jimmy Anderson is the worst fast bowler to play 190 tests. He’s absolutely correct. Jimmy is also the best fast bowler to play 190 tests. You’re both the best and worst in any group if you’re the only one in that group 😆

Garry Sobers had a special affection for India. He ate Indian bowlers and batsmen for breakfast. Vs India: 18M, 1,920 runs at 83.5, 59W at 25.7 He did even better in India. 8M, 899 runs at 99.9, 24w at 26.76 He’s arguably the best batsmen against spin in the history.

DK Lillee vs Richard Hadlee is an interesting debate. Both were great fast bowlers who played in the same era. Lillee broke Lance Gibbs’ world record, then Botham overtook him and finally Hadlee held it. Lillee became the first man to take 350 test wickets while Hadlee was the

An ideal all rounder bats like a peak Botham, bowl like a mature Hadlee, fields like a young Kapil and captains like Imran at his imperious (dictatorial) best. Or is he a replica of Sobers at his best?

@VPAllasander That’s fine. Opinions vary. In my book, he’s India’s greatest. Let’s agree he’s a great player. I find it strange that so many people despise a great player because of his toxic fan base. His fans are weird but so are others.
