As much as I love Obgyn, I hate the working pattern in Obgyn departments in government hospitals. Absolutely no regard for the long and tiring working hours and if anything goes wrong, the onus is on resident Drs. This case at #Safdarjung is a perfect example of this.

Remembering my residency days, govt hospitals are so overburdened that even with three batches of resident doctors sometimes we went on to work for continuous 70 hours without using washrooms or eating for straight 18-24 hours. This is how most of the resident Drs work in India.

One of my colleagues, lost his life today to Acute Pancreatitis due to gall stones. It is so sudden I still can’t believe it. He was just 31. Couldn’t see his mother wailing. Life is so unpredictable. Don’t know why we wait for tomorrow to do things that we actually want to.
