Results are in and it looks like it’s gonna be a half and half video! Part for Izuku, part for Ochako and then a look at their relationship and how it impacts both of them!
This’ll be fun!
I want to talk about my favorite page in the latest chapter of MHA. I’m going to break it down bit by bit and why I think Izuku will become the number one hero and change the entire landscape of the hero society.
The first person who Izuku talked to about Bakugo bullied him was Ochako.The first person who recognized that they were“destined rivals”was Ochako.The first person who stood up for Izuku as a hero was Ochako.The first person who called out Bakugo for his insecurities was Ochako.
@leordas1
Let's face it, Ochako has no idea what Izuku's been through EVEN BEFORE he started attending UA. If they get to know each other better, I would have no problem if they end up canon.
So unless you come up with a better excuse, don't bother wasting my time.
Alright. Enough time has passed. I’ve been working on a mega thread on MHA. Maybe my last; except for videos I’ve got planned (like my Izuku/Ochako one). This is going to be both my review of the series as a whole, and my explanation of why 430 is a great conclusion to the series
I don’t think he’s an “unredeemable monster” but I do think people moved on to defending him rather than holding him accountable. Yes, he was a kid, but he still knew what he was doing was wrong. He did it anyway. Yes. He did apologize. He still has to atone before moving on.
No one’s saying it’s a masterpiece. But for people that hates on it, I know I personally want to praise it. Especially since it was his last chance to be a mangas and he hit it straight out of the park! It’s popular, and has been going strong for 8 years. What’s wrong with praise

STOP FUCKING ACTING LIKE MHA WAS EVER SUPPOSED TO BE A MASTERPIECE, OR "BEST SHONEN MANGA OF ALL TIME"! IT NEVER WAS! It's was guy's last chance to achieve his dream of becoming mangaka!
@kyoruyeye
I don’t know if that’s entirely fair. A lot of men in Shoujo are well developed, but they still are plot devices or love interests. A lot of Shoujo relies on love triangles or other Shoujo tropes that qualify as wish fulfillment, just different kind of wish fulfillment lol 😅
@Bananaslip27
Bittersweet. Toga died: bitter. She died saving Ochako’s life: sweet. Ochako feels guilty about Toga: bitter. But she’s going to move forward with her memory and change the way society views villains (if this turns out how I think): sweet.
Even tragedies can be bittersweet
@GinOne9
It’s probably one of my favorite redemption stories, because he really does hold so much animosity toward himself for what he did for a month and 1/2. It shows that complete abasement is no better than ignoring your crimes. The way his mom says to “live each day” makes me cheer
From the start, Ochako’s been about how to help others feel happy and have an easy time. She likes seeing others happy, be that her parents, other people, or heroes who give it their all.
She’s just a giving person.
Here it is..the backstory that made some people think Ochako's goal was all about the money,forgetting the reason why she wanted it(give her parents an easier life)and the reason she wanted to help them(she wants to make the people around her happy,but we would learn that later)
Sure! So for starters, they are designed to be foils of one another. A foil character are characters that share surface similarities but are VASTLY different in background, value and behavior. In this case, the similarities between Bakugo and Izuku is their love of All Might.
@Kaiser_MHA
True, but he saw it from Izuku’s perspective this time. And since people were shocked about Endeavors reveal of abuse, I’m guessing cameras didn’t catch what they were saying to each other. It’s kind of like watching the Super Bowl at home vs being on the field.
@JamesonMozelle1
Bakugo (at this point if the series) would blow her up and say “does it look like I need your help you extra?” Luckily he mellows out later
The second one shows how weird it would be if Ochako had Izuku’s face and yeah! Eri, Izuku and Ochako all look similar because all three are connected. It’s super sweet and cute! 🥰
Oof, bad take. There’s a difference between fun nicknames/teasing between friends and calling someone something demeaning and cruel to feel superior to them. In every interaction, Katsuki uses that name to demean Deku or insult him. He LITERALLY only calls him that out of spite.
@Raiden822
Izuku never despised the nickname Deku. Iida was more insulted than Izuku when it was mentioned. People don't usually care that much about nicknames given by your friends. 🤷
If you do, that is just a reflection of a lack of friends, not of bullying.
@Inko_Midoryia
Sorry Inko, he is an abuser. Bullying is a form of abuse. He knew what he was doing. He knew what he was doing was wrong.
Yes if Izuku had followed through with it Bakugo would’ve felt guilty and awful. And it would still be his fault because he was an abuser.
@Raiden822
It’s the passive-aggressiveness for me: the pretending like they care about Ochako just so they can downplay her importance or change Izuku’s character so it’ll fit their narrative. And they do it while being so smug and acting like they’re moral paragons too.
Every. Single. Time. Horikoshi takes a week off? We’re getting FIRE! Every. Single. Time. Horikoshi you’re absolutely insane. And I thank you as you are one of my FAVORITE AUTHORS and ARTISTS of ALL TIME!
Took a while and mine is weird, but I started shipping them after she pushed her feelings down for him. I wanted her to be able to express them openly without feeling like she’d be a burden…and that’s when the shipping started 😅
@JaegerTwice
Edgeshot is a worm who is gonna have to take years before he’s able to be at normal size again. He’s in for a long road to recovery. Gran Torino is down for good, in a hospital bed. For who knows how long. All Might in a wheelchair. Endeavor paralyzed with one arm. Bittersweet
Ochako is just as important to Izuku as Inko, All Might and Bakugo. Bakugo is his goal as a hero, All Might is his aspiration, Ochako is his inspiration and holder if his ideals, and Inko is his rock and home. He needs them all to be a great hero. Ochako gave him his hero name.
@thinx55
The ONLY argument for Bakugo’s favor was that if he was never in Deku’s life, Deku may have not been as determined to be a hero. He was determined to prove everyone wrong. Including the doctors AND Bakugo and the teachers. But if you pull him out it’s just the teachers and Bakugo
@dynamighdelight
Or maybe it has to do with the metaphor about how society is trying to go back to the original ways of hero society? And Toga being a mass murderer but saving someone would be seen as uprooting what they know? The thing that Horikoshi has been doing since the Stain arc?
@mhabadtakes
My word-.-the sad thing is Hawks being the new President of the HPSC is the best thing we could hope for.He’s lived in that system.But he’s kept his optimism.He’ll prevent another Nagant from happening.And since he tried to give Twice a chance to change,it gives hope for villains
I still don’t think Izuku is gonna end the series quirkless. It wouldn’t make any sense.Especially since he has yet to “make the power his own.”He’s still referring to it as a borrowed power.I think he’s gonna get it back and make it his own by ending All for One (the quirk)
@y4gisupremacy
All Might easily, but second to me would be Ochako since she was the first person who stood up for his dream, “he saved me” and the one that changed his name. Third would be Inko as she made his suit and was his anchor at home (reminded him to come back) and last would be Bakugo
I do see where their relationship is weird, and the language is very messed up. But I don’t read it as incest. I read it the same way I do with Mother Gothel with Rapunzel, or Endeavor with Shoto, or Overhaul with Eri; entirely obsessed with control and possession over people.
*sigh* In all of my years of being on this platform, never would i ever think i would ever have to write this...
WHY "YOU'RE MINE" ISN'T INCENTUOUS (Thread)

@Raiden822
I don’t think that they really enjoy Izuku. Not as a character. If you can’t separate the characters from the ship, that’s a problem.
Izuku doesn’t “revolve around Katsuki.” That’s not his character. Hasn’t been his character since chapter 1. He revolves around being a hero
@MU_1_2
No, because until UA changed him Bakugo truly believed that quirks were the be all end all of being successful or a good person.
It was Izuku constantly besting him (though Bakugo was stronger) that finally taught him quirks are not the most important
@davidanagy3
@KILLERFISHHHH
Anything meaningful?Ochako saved everyone by her connecting to Toga. Toga then saved Ochako because SHE wanted to. She didn’t want to be in a prison cell. She WANTED to die and live the way she pleased. Midnight saved her beloved students and gave them the way to take down Machia
@zane4bkdk
How? There’s been good build up. Both have conflicting feelings about the war so that’s a good tie in. They’re at the same place where they discussed how they felt about saving the villains and that they would “take it all back” which by society standards they did. So…how? 🤔
I've been given permission to share a fic that I and a MHA group of moots have been writing of a possible sequel with MHA!We've been working hard on developing characters and our premise and there's now 2 completed chapters done!feedback is always welcomed!
@ladolcevolk
Yup.Bakugo is AFO’s villain,because AFO is the person he used to be.The arrogance,egotism,and narcissism of power equaling value.Actually it’s the same as when he brought down the kid who thought(because of his quirk)he was better than his teacher…wait…was this foreshadowing?😂
Let’s face facts here: he KNOWINGLY treated Izuku cruelly. For no other reason than being quirkless. He smashed a kids dream repeatedly because HE decided Izuku couldn’t have it.He then told this same kid to kill himself when Izuku wouldn’t give up. As a teacher? That’s expulsion
@GemmellRomero
“Blackwhip is his lifeline?” They never said that. They said to stay with the kid so he can work to take on Shigaraki. Methinks they’re forcing their ship into unrelated areas, a little too much. This is Izuku’s time to shine!
Oh boy, here we go.yes.I’m a psych. And a teacher.(Not a psychologist I’m a BHT level 2 as I finish my masters)but I digress. You brought up that I’m in violation of the code of ethics because I need to “do no harm.” That’s a pretty big claim and I’m happy to put it to the test.
I called this. December looks like more content is coming. I’m expecting new artwork and maybe some ones that’ll give some new info!
Either way, I’m stoked!
MHA volume 42 will be getting more content that we haven't seen.
My expectations:
- Chapter 423 cleaned up/added to. Probably the chapter that needs more love than any other.
- Deku Uraraka full interaction. They were definitely in the air, hori just needed more time.
- final
It’s because of this we root for him. It’s because of this he’s the strongest hero. And it’s why we all worry for him. Because there’s no hero like Deku. The one who can do anything and saves everyone.
@shoutokitty
I think you’re right. And further, this is the realization that the ideals they hold is a thorny path. One that may end with their own misery. But they’re going to pursue it together. And that scares him because just when he’s figured it out…he might lose her.
@rfdeiss
His development and humility arc is probably the best I’ve seen! He grows from being a loud, immature, egotistical brat; to a calm, rational, levelheaded and humble hero. And I love it!
Made fun of him. Also ostracized him,made sure that anyone who hung out with him was also bullied (see chapter 1 when Izuku defended another kid from Bakugo)and at any chance he had made sure Izuku didn’t think he could do anything, down to CHANGING HIS NAME to mean “worthless”
Nagant: former hero and current villain left the confines of her hospital room to save UA and help Izuku. She’s being asked by RockLock why she did that and she responds: “he managed to wrench open my heart.” (Title of the chapter by the by)
@SpriderRed
How does Izuku need to learn how to accept his feelings for Katsuki to humanize Tenko?😵💫
S: “my family abused me and I was abandoned by heroes!”😡
D: “Dude I know how you feel, I have a massive crush on my abuser but he’s not getting it!”😢
…Somehow, I don’t think that’ll work.
I think the problem lies in the two extremes. You’re either “I hate him and wish he stayed dead because he’s awful and a bully and people are too nice about him” or you’re “he’s just a kid! He reflects society! It’s societies fault! Not him!” The reality is in the middle.
While this is true and it’s important to have friends to vent to,it’s also difficult sometimes for friends to take on someone else’s trauma. It may not be a “bother”but one persons trauma on top of their own can be very laboring. That’s why therapy IS important ALONG with friends
hot take or unpopular opinion I guess: if I can't vent to you as a friend, we cannot be friends. You don't need to be a therapist in order to hear me out. If you're bothered by my trauma, I simply want nothing to do with you. Especially when I'm actively dealing with my issues.
She follows this by saying“he’s got a special way of doing this and there’s nothing harder for a villain to bear than that”We’ve seen this from the getgo.Deku isn’t the kind of hero that fights first and never asks questions.He really wants to know what drives them down that path
By all accounts, Izuku had the origin for a villain story. He was bullied and outcasted, told his dream was stupid and he needed to “get a grip on reality.” From a psych perspective, that sets someone up for failure. Dreams are essential. They make us who we are and drive us.
#MHA422
"That deku panel from that Uraraka page looks familiar." I see... It's a goddamn reference to how Hori draws Uraraka in that specific panel during her speech! 🤣
So it’s a worldwide popularity poll…where the winner gets a movie. You know not what I expected but now it’s in OUR hands! Guys, you know what you have to do ☺️ vote for your fave. I just did mine
@KatsuGo558955
@kirbykoopa2
I find it interesting that in order to work this into being platonic, each one of these you have to read and insert context that was
1. Never indicated by the author
2. Never indicated by the narrative.
Same with the pictures you use where you insert context with the same method
@DKGJKA
I feel so sorry for Horikoshi. People don’t like the way the story’s going, I get it, but come on. They’ve turned on him so quickly 😔 he’s not a genie guys. He writes what he wants.
@LSoukrates
Ochako succeeded in reaching out to Toga. Hence why Ochako is alive BECAUSE of Toga. That’s bittersweet. Toga loved how she pleases and gave her life for the girl she loved. We keep talking about Ochako but it was Toga’s choice. It was Toga who saved her.
@DKGJKA
This is the case of taking everything too literal in order to verify your confirmation bias. She REFUSES to look at any evidence of Ochako’s arc (being accepting her feelings of love as a supportive hero) and instead chooses to focus on the aspect that confirms that she’s right.
@kyoruyeye
I think both Shonen and Shoujo can fall into this trap, and the only way they survive it is by making characters first with their own arcs, and character roles second.
@Utakime
Bakugo would be flattered if it was anyone else. It’s Izuku that pisses him off. Because “how dare Deku think he’s in my league! He think he can copy me!” 🤬🤬🤬 commence angry gremlin Pomeranian noises.
@BakuDekuLs
They treat characters as pixels when it suits their fetishes. But as a reminder they think an abusive relationship in shonen would be good LGBTQ representation. Once again, I DO NOT take morality lessons from MHA twt. Nor do I take romance lessons for them either. Too many kids😓
@BakuDekuLs
Would the first not be good? Like. Would it not be good for Izuku to forgive him? Maybe I’m missing something here 😅 because I think forgiveness for abuse is stronger than admitting to romantic intentions.
Deku really is a hero who saves everyone. Villains included. And it’s why at the end of this. He’s going to save Shigaraki and become the number one hero! Quirk or no quirk (though I still think he’s going to end with One for All ☺️)
I love the contrast. there’s no longer this idea that heroes are gods who don’t struggle or have troubles. It’s real. Like Nagant says,Deku goes through all of it without pretending that he’s unaffected. that is what makes him a great hero and will lead the generation of heroes😊
OK guys, Horikoshi is setting up something super interesting here.
In a stark contrast to how the crowd was avidly cheering on All Might in Kamino, the crowd watching deku is eerily silent.
Even Denki makes a direct comparison to the current difference between Deku & All Might
Up until now, there’s been a schism in society, heroes vs villains. Heroes are paradigms of good and Justice, villains are twisted and evil only out to cause Chaos.
Izuku grew up in that society but he was never in the schism. Because he was quirkless. But he WANTED to be a hero
He saved Iida, even if it meant going up against the Hero Killer. Then he was saved by Stain and so he saw that villains may be different than he thought.
Each time he fights a villain he asks them how they got there. He doesn’t assume they’re evil. He hears them out.
@Raiden822
I mean…I recall when Bakugo woke up and they cheered for a confession rather than focusing on him saving All Might. I think both can be there as long as no one’s making fun of anyone else. But that might be too much to ask 😅
But we know all this. So what does that have to do with what’s happening now? Because in EVERY fight Izuku is in, he thinks about their dreams. What they want. And WHO or WHAT is stopping them. He doesn’t fight for himself. Never has. He fights for everyone else. Even a villain.
@YasserMontasse5
How could you say that? Tomura was just innocently killing people because he was angry boi! It’s Izuku’s fault for not getting that!
That’s the base of the argument. And it’s dumb
RockLock then says that beating villains is all about making them lose the will to fight and Nagant says he’s not out to punish evil, he’s heading down a more nuanced path, a thornier path. One that will push him to his limits and run him ragged each time.
he didn’t die for Deku.He died being a true hero.He wanted to catch up to Izuku.wasn’t a self sacrificial thing.He pushed Deku out of the way of Shigaraki but that’s cause he knows they need One for All.Bakugo’s character development is centered around Izuku but it’s FOR Bakugo.
@legitokni
Anyone who reads MHA with any real form of media literacy knows that no couple has been confirmed and therefore none are canon. But izuocha has a lot of evidence supporting it 😁
Now let’s look at other facts: he changed when Aizawa called him out on his pride. He learned he wasn’t the end all be all and began to improve. He (after 6 seasons) finally apologized to Izuku for all the treatment he did (after watching Endeavor go through atonement for abuse)
He wants to save everyone and he’s not just talking about civilians. He means everyone. He saves Ochako who was nice to him, even if that meant failing himself. Didn’t matter. Because he thought about her dream. Her life. He saved Todoroki even though that meant losing.
@Yunarissss2
It does for me too but sadly, that is something that is seen. Kids who were abused will sometimes (and have a statistically higher risk) of becoming abusers themselves unless they break the cycle. Shigaraki has been hurting people for being heroes. He’s become the thing he hated.
@TheBoiBubba
It’s not. Not by society. The only person who knows of her heroics, is Ochako. She’s the one who has to speak up. About the real Toga. The one that she knew. Who was both an awful villain, and the hero that saved her.
People don’t understand him or think he’s getting too involved,but that’s how he saves them. It’s how he saved Kota(though he really barged in on his trauma)He saved Eri (though he risked the mission) he saved Bakugo, his bully(twice) and he saved All Might by giving him purpose.
