That's as viral as I want to get right now.
Thanks for the nice messages, but instead of focusing on the ill-informed comments, (because we know how Twitter pile-ons can work out), THIS is the call we took afterwards that we SHOULD be sharing. Please listen and pass on.

Well I'm totally overwhelmed by all the lovely comments tonight. Forgot to say on-air, for those who asked, in a new job at the BBC as a studio manager, working with the news teams on Radio 4 and World Service programmes.
The Solent Years really have some of my best - thanks! X
New job! Chuffed to nuts to be taking over at 10am weekdays on
@BBCRadioSolent
from next Mon (27th)
Hopefully this means a new picture to replace the 8 year old one of me on the website - this one will do!📻
The sentence 'David

and Jo Brand make a sandwich' does NOT sound like comedy gold but I've just cried laughing at them on last night's

Well, what a jolly week learning the ropes as a studio manager / director at BBC News!
Delivering the 6 O'Clock News for your enjoyment......soon!

Can't imagine British Radio without him.
After 14 years, its a fond farewell to

on my last afternoon playing songs and talking inbetween them! Thanks to the whole team - and thanks, Thanks, THANKS to you if you listened!
Lots of great presenters doing their last shows today as many local stations effectively disappear this weekend. To my old gang at Spire FM, and all the the former UKRD stations in particular - here's to you! Going out on top is something to be proud of! 📻❤👏🍻
The

BBC South Today's lead weather presenter, Alexis Green, was bombarded with scores of explicit messages, photos and videos which had a huge impact on her life. ▶
I know a lot of people in the city had deep reservations about the BBC dramatizing

but I think the series was superb esp as it put Nick and Dawn's story at the heart of it - not the international politics. The end was gut wrenching. Great performances too
Was very proud to be part of team
@SpireFM
during that extraordinary time. The news dept. in particular couldn't have worked any harder. X

I spent nearly 10 years either filling in for Paul or his producer on the Late Show - and it was one of the best jobs I've ever had.
That's down to the sense of fun, empathy and companionship Paul built up with his ARMY of fans.
Its hard to overstate how much he'll be missed.
Late Show presenter Paul Miller

announces he will leave the show later this year, after 23 years presenting late nights across the South.

After the caller this morning who made my blood boil saying at 72 she was taking no staying in precautions whatsoever, and was STILL round her friends houses - it's good to remember MOST of
@BBCRadioSolent
listeners are lovely - if no less loopy - thanks for the laugh Maurice!
A big hug and a couple of tears as
@judy_goodlet
bids a fond farewell to
@BBCRadioSolent
this morning after.....ooh....a LONG time as a trusted voice to the South's drivers - and one of the nicest and wisest people you could hope to have as a colleague! Good luck Jude! XXX
It's been coming for a while, may even have been inevitable given how much radio has changed, but it doesn't make me any less devastated for my friends who will lose their jobs, jobs they've done bloody well by the way. Thinking of them, and everyone affected round the country.💔
Life goal-getting on
@airchecks

Hey, don't I sound good on the radio?😁
Just to say, not leaving Solent completely, will be on Sunday evening through the summer and popping up here and there to cover other shows....like Whack-A-Mole!🔨
Paul Whitehouse doing a superb job laying out exactly why Britain's rivers have got so appallingly polluted on

Remember

who called my show back at the start of lockdown FURIOUS at being told to self isolate, saying she didn't care if she got the virus, "We've had our lives, so stuff it"
She called back last week! 👇👇👇
Good luck to all my BBC Local colleagues for their interviews with the Prime Minister in the morning.
Last year's with Liz Truss became part of British political history - so, no pressure!🤯
Final (regular) show of the year.....done!
Taking a leaf from a friends book and deleting Twitter and news apps for a few days to allow my brain to cool down!
Thanks for listening -

Apparently according to some Twitter commentators Claudia Winkleman is a 'PC' choice to take over from Graham Norton on Radio 2. Is selecting any woman to do a job a man has dome previously too 'PC' now - should only blokes apply?

One of the reasons it's acheived such high ratings and anticipation is because the nation (largely) enjoy it all at the same time - not many collective experiences left outside of sport on telly these days.
Ah, happy days! Well, eventually, that first time I was flippin' terrified!
Off to make a final appearance with the great
@PaulMillerRadio
as he starts his final week of shows. A superb presenter and a bloody nice bloke to boot!

Happy Christmas from me and me mother - who judging by the reaction to her appearance on the radio earlier, will probably be doing the Christmas Day show herself!
Great hearing
@DavidLloydRADIO
on Radio 4's Feedback programme talking about the dire state of BBC Local Radio and reminding us all that the BBC is failing in its duty to the licence payers. Like many, he sounds very frustrated. Something doesn't smell right at all here...
Just sat in a New York park for an hour listening to Steve Wright's last hour on Radio 2! First used to listen to him on my Walkman coming home from school when I was 15!
Hard to watch this one - when I was 10 and first started twiddling the knob on my dads radio in the kitchen (which was permanently on Radio 4) - Howie's would have been one of the first voices I discovered on Radio Hallam. It is SO hard to say goodbye after all these years. 💔

Not unexpected news given the direction the UK radio market is going in - but the end of the last great commercial station name on the South Coast, and no doubt some popular presenters too - the record breaking audience figures tell their own story!
Lots of love to all affected.

What an adventure!
It's been an extraordinary 16 year ride at the BBC filled with stories, moments, and experiences that have shaped me in profound ways. My final Early Breakfast show is tomorrow at 5am. It's not goodbye but a 'see you later.'
Thank you

Carol Concert - bit nervy hosting for the first time but enjoyed it enormously!
Hear it played across Christmas, first airing at 1pm on Fri 23rd.
As a radio bloke I've never really had any aspirations towards telly - and looking at all the snaps people sent from their screens today that's probably for the best!
