I find Terry Tao to be a whitepill, if you follow his writing he makes very clear that math is not about raw intelligence, actually it's not about *you* at all. It's about the problems at hand, which are large enough for anyone to enjoy climbing them.

you've probably seen the term 'thermodynamic computing' thrown around in the past few days. the idea is in its core is the same as, well, any hardware: you encode some properties in a physical system and you "let it do its thing" either by waiting or applying work

geometric deep learning is one of those big nerd rabbit holes: unless you're working in systems where physics is relevant, it's unlikely to be of any much use. however, I have a feeling that deep graph neural nets are potentially powerful if anyone figures out how to train them

The Rabin-Scott theorem is one of the (philosophically) deepest mathematical results I know. When properly understood, I claim that it can't help but alter your view of reality in a fairly foundational way. Yet its typical textbook presentation obscures much of this depth. (1/8)

the salient difference is that the way you set up the system and extract results is guided by thermodynamics, which in essence means that your system will have lots of subcomponents/processes that will evolve through time and you will use statistics of those things to get results
