Miami is now on par with Seattle and Denver for venture funding. With growth trajectory, it's very likely that by 2023 Miami will be the
#3
metro for venture funding, passing LA and Boston. Literally willed into existence in a little over a year.
Miami Tech has become a place where *everyone* comes through town at regular intervals. That's a peer status to SF & NYC that has not been achieved by Austin, Seattle, Denver, Nashville, etc.
Miami is now a startup peer to Austin and Boston and has surpassed Seattle and Denver. Miami on track to be the
#3
city for new startups by next year! 🚀 Thank you

10. Sprint reconciliation where all of the above is discussed in excruciating detail and passive aggressive tensions allegedly resolved between product managers, architects, UX, engineer, with conclusion to have more meetings at each above step so this doesn't happen again
Process before 2010:
1. PM adds ticket to Kanban board "Add a date picker to the date fields"
2. UI Engineer picks ticket, finds 3 suitable components, emails PM which do you like
3. Date picker implemented
4. QA team make "pick a date" test plan & QAs
5. Ships in next release
Process after 2010:
1. New ticket in Jira "Add a date picker to the date fields"
2. Ticket triage with product managers and architects, architects select date component to use
3. UX team designs all possible interactions in Figma
4. Scrum meeting where tickets are selected
5. Product manager writes detailed ticket with definition of done
6. Estimation where team estimates time to implement date picker
7. Junior UI Engineer assigned ticket.
8. Bugs in the date picker component -> emergency Slack -> ticket kicked out of sprint -> back to Step 2.
9. Date picker component can't implement all the UX interactions in Figma -> emergency Slack -> ticket kicked out of sprint -> back to Step 2
It's an existential crisis for socialists that we have hit the limits of MMT: printing more money increases inflation which disproportionately impacts the working class
Families are rightly upset that the price of meat has gone through the roof. Who’s to blame? Meatpacking monopolies that are using inflation as cover to raise prices and make record profits. I’m fighting for stronger antitrust enforcement to lower prices.
It’s too late to use the mails. Given Supreme Court rulings I urge everyone to now vote in person; early vote or use drop boxes. Protect your health but don’t let the Court and the deliberately crippled Postal Service deprive you of your most precious civil right. Plan your vote.
FL has fewest cases per capita in the contiguous US, same vax rate as CA, & school districts without a mask mandate had same results as the ones with mask mandate.
NYT thinks cases in North are up due to people inside from cold, but this did not apply to summer heat in South.
Even MSNBC anchors now realize that SF is at a defined output from a set of policy inputs. The SF transformation happened quickly in 10 years and accelerated in the last 2. The same has happened in Seattle, Chicago, Portland, Minneapolis. Input->Output.
I figured this out by mid-April 2020 with a bit of research on Italian median mortality + results of early serology testing. It was basic math. And indeed, "I'm not a doctor" lol.
Absolute and total ass covering bullshit from Bill Gates. We KNEW the IFR from COVID was low, and we KNEW it targeted the elderly in early Spring 2020. We cannot let these people pretend like this is new. They broke the world, and must be held accountable.
Happy to share that little enterprise baby

What made Silicon Valley explode was immigration from India and China, not 1500 CS graduates per year from Berkeley + Stanford combined. Thank you

Follow the data. SF has completely degraded by every conceivable metric. Do you see other cities sending staff here to study and mimic our housing, crime, homeless, education, etc. policies? I've lived here 23 years btw and used to love this place.
We’ve made the decision to stop all political advertising on Twitter globally. We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought. Why? A few reasons…🧵

hyped the acceleration of digitization thru covid, yet said nothing on re-opening of businesses, getting kids back in school, or the spike in crime/deteriorating streets. But it's mean to discuss how SF failed. He's now at the anger phase of grief.
Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson brings the heat: “You’ve got all the billionaires moving to Texas or Miami and giving the middle finger on the way out: ‘Oh, San Francisco is a shithole. Blah, blah, blah.’ Did you lift a finger while you lived here—while you made billions of dollars? (1/3)
As people come to terms with the weight of our new environment, they are slowly beginning to realize how radically things have changed. One area in particular that has changed - the required level of "corporate performance" needed to simply survive (let alone thrive). 🧵
A very unfortunate yet unsurprising outcome for California when compared to Florida and Texas. I wrote an article in August predicting this would happen and the California response is one of the reasons why my wife and I moved to Florida in September.
There's enough LPs that every VC comes through, enough VCs that every founder comes through, and pretty soon, enough founders that every exec/dev comes through.

"Proactiveness and transparency pays dividends not just in containing a breach from a security perspective but also during post-breach compliance analysis by regulators – it all adds to the awareness that’s essential to operating in a risk society."
BTC starting to look more like digital oil than digital gold, with whales controlling the price. They can drive it up, sell, drive it down, buy, rinse, repeat. Imagine the OPEC-like meetings happening on Signal. Pleebs, line up at the gas pump like it's the 70s!

Half of India's population is less than 28 years old, so of course their death rate was going to be low. Media just loves tracking case counts.

They are artificially boosting accounts that they have identified as influencers. It's a smart strategy, but it explains why the avg used is not having a similar experience.
The OpenAI board is advising Musk that iterating on rocket design with live launches is very unsafe, and that it's better to think everything little thing through with matrixed decision making, and in another decade maybe he can ship a very expensive one-off rocket like the SLS
Doubling cap gains on entrepreneurs and VCs will seriously impact innovation in CA/NY. Only way they can turn a 20% tax hike into an effective 5-7% tax hike is by moving to FL/TX.
The thing that is really going to kill the Bay Area is that young people like to live in cities, SF is not livable, and now they can work for Google/Facebook/Salesforce/etc in NYC/Seattle/Austin/etc.
Tell me: how should social networks differentiate between 100 million ChatGPT bots and a human? A credit card number is a good start.
Reminiscent of all the whinging every time Facebook changed things years ago.

The big question in retrospect: was keeping healthy people at home to reduce the ~1% asymptomatic spread worth the massive societal disruption and $6T cost of lockdowns. With the new 5 day quarantine we are now clearly willing to have some death to maintain society.
I'm excited to introduce . Know what's really happening with the AI news aggregator that summarizes liberal, mainstream, conservative, and even Russian and Chinese perspectives.
