According to the police, an anonymous caller pretending to be me, called up and said that I had "stabbed my girlfriend and that I was suicidal". They gave the cops my name and address. The sergeant gave me his card and I'll be giving them a call tomorrow.

Comic creators that use block lists, cancel customers. Lack of customers, cancels sales. Lack of sales, cancels books. ALL of this, hurts comic shops and ironically enough, ends up hurting the creators that use those block lists, as they cancel themselves.

Here's an easy guide for comic creators on how to respond and handle praise and criticism (should you feel the need to do so): Reader: "I LOVED your comic!" Creator: "Thanks for reading!" Reader: "I HATED your comic!" Creator: "Thanks for reading!" Then go make some comics. 👍

When people say something is a "hate group" that very obviously isn't, it erodes at the seriousness of what actual hate groups are and the horrible and horrifying things they do. Ironically, the irresponsible spreading of misinformation and fear always leads to misguided hatred.

You don't need "approval" from other creators or publishers or distributors in order to have a career in comics. You only need "approval" from one group of people: the readers. At the end of the day, customers decide whether or not you have a career. No one else.

In 2016 we had an OK year. 2017 was much better as sales increased 700%. It was our best year ever. Until 2018. Thanks to all of our amazing readers, 2018 destroyed 2017 with a 1750% increase in sales. My one new year's resolution for 2019: surpass 2018. Happy New Year folks!

I'm grateful that the police were thorough and quickly assessed the situation. It was the scariest thing I'd ever been through, but their judgement in the situation is the reason I'm even alive right now and able to tweet this. Things could have gone much worse.

They said newsprint comics were dead. We brought them back to life. They said no one wants $1.50 comics from unknowns. We've sold 150,000 in a year without one big name or licensed property on board. Now we're going to help indie creators grow. I wonder what they'll say next?

In 2006, I started Alterna Comics. I worked multiple day jobs for Alterna's first 6 years and one of them was for Barnes & Noble, shipping author signings posters. I thought "one day, I'll be on one of these". In 2012, I did my first signing at a Barnes & Noble. Don't Give Up!

Did Jack Kirby have a reputation for punching out comic creators he disagreed with? I highly doubt it, because by all accounts, Jack Kirby wasn't a lunatic. Apparently Tony Isabella seems to think he was. Advocating for violence to occur at a comic convention is abhorrent.
