#jupitersaturnconjunction on Dec 21st at 00:18UT. A combination of several exposures to reveal the moons of both planets. The GRS is visible on Jupiter. Titan is seen to lower right of Saturn.

A new impact flash has been discovered on Jupiter by Brazilian observer Jose Luis Pereira - the flash occurred at Sep 13th, 22:39:30 UTC. It looks quite a bright one. Follow up images of this region will be useful to see if any dark scar was left following the event.

#Jupiter on opposition on August 20th. With the Sun, Earth and Jupiter all perfectly aligned we can see Io in transit across the disk perfectly in line, and partially occulting its own shadow.

#Jupiter with GRS and trio of moons. Some very good seeing. Ganymede, Io and Europa alongside the planet. The GRS measures 15,138km across its horizontal axis at present - well under half the size it was in the 1890s!

Some dramatic changes in Jupiter's long lived Oval BA storm seen in the latest Juno images. The storm has again become white in appearance after having spent the last twelve years orange coloured. These images from July 2017 and Dec 2018 show the remarkable change in appearance.

A year ago today i enjoyed this splendid view of Mars from home. The famous Syrtis Major is centre with the south polar cap at top. Right at the centre of the disk is the crater Huygens - its circular outline clearly visible.

Here is a view of #Mars i captured almost exactly a year ago. Here we see the Eye of Mars (Solis Lacus) staring back at us. The Valles Marineris canyon makes up the lower rim of the eye. Olympus Mons is bottom right emerging from the wispy Martian clouds.

Re-processed one of my best #Saturn data sets from 2016 recently with much improved results. Taken from Barbados under near perfect seeing in June 2016, many storms are visible on the planet, along with the polar hexagon.

Here is an image obtained by Rico and myself 1hr after the impact event. The site is clearly resolved and no visible scar was left (just as with previous impact flash events.) The object was probably too small to reach the deeper atmosphere.

Messier 82 This new collaboration with Rico Enzmann is especially interesting as this was taken with a Canon R5 DSLR attached to the 1m F/8 telescope. It has had no calibration at all (no darks, flats etc.) 500 x 30 sec exposures combined.
