@OliverDowden
@Heritage
You want to ban protest.
You want to ban debate.
You want to ban schools teaching about slavery.
You want to ban any criticism of the government.
You want to ban books which deny your view of history.
You want to ban teachers who defy you.
That's not courage, it's fascism.
@NadineDorries
Them's the lies.
200,000 Covid deaths
Highest inflation for decades
Highest taxes in 70 years
NHS broken by Tory cuts
Public services decimated
Them's the facts.

That's what I call team loyalty.
As commentators on MOTD, we have decided to step down from tomorrow night’s broadcast. We are comforted that football fans who want to watch their teams should still be able to do so, as management can use World Feed commentary if they wish.
@AddictScrabble
@Conservatives
I was born in the 50s.
We didn't have central heating or double glazing.
It was cold, miserable and depressing.
Why should I put up with all that again now?
@Edwina_Currie
We would like you, Edwina, to return to the obscurity you so richly deserve and stop these pathetic attempts to minimise the impact of the catastrophe which is overwhelming millions of people in the UK while Tory millionaires tell us to wear an extra jumper or cuddle a dog.
FFS.

@pritipatel
? This is direct from a UK Border point, as of now. You can't claim this is a case of "appalling disinformation", so what is happening?
@Conservatives
Last night, Labour and the Lib Dems voted against our Public Order Bill to outlaw peaceful protests.
Rather than side with the repressive and authoritarian Tory dictatorship, they chose to defend a constitutional right to mount peaceful protest, however inconvenient.
@NadineDorries
No, he didn't.
And we, the public, want you to get on with clearing your desks so we can instal a government which works for us, not for their Russian money launderer donors.
We see you. We know you. There will be a reckoning.
I have seen a couple of well argued, well written pieces over the weekend saying that a Tory wipe out at the General Election would mean there is a risk of there being no effective opposition in the next Parliament.
Can I just say that's a risk I'm prepared to take.
Hugo Keith, "Did you ever read SAGE minutes?"
Boris Johnson, "Once or twice"
HK, "There were hundreds of minutes from SAGE but you only read a fraction of them?"
BJ, "That sound's right to me, yes"

@ZacGoldsmith
If he had the numbers he would have been shouting them from the rooftops. He would have faced down or convinced the doubters. He would have bluffed his way through, just like he always has, leaving others to repair the damage.
He has never done an honourable thing in his life.
@kelvmackenzie
I've now heard it all. Sun Editor makes up story about Liverpool fans. What kind of creep is he? Imagine waking up to a front page saying fans desecrated the bodies of your dead friends and relatives. Quite shocking.
@christopherhope
You wanted the investigation to be reopened. It is.
You wanted Starmer put under pressure. He was.
You wanted Starmer to resign if fined. He will.
You got everything you wanted, so why are you complaining now?
@Peston
Then the full list of Fixed Penalty Notices to be issued to Johnson and Downing Street staff should have been announced, together with the publication of the full Sue Gray report and the list of the 56 MPs being investigated for sexual offences.
@Tony_Diver
@mjtward19
I'm old enough to remember Farage, Hannan and other Vote Leave cheerleaders saying there was no suggestion that we would leave the Single Market.
@Otto_English
The unasked question here is why the automatic assumption/assertion that people are moving out of East London because of immigration?
Isn't it because of high rents, the cost of mortgages, the 'gentrification' of some areas forcing up house prices, or the lack of certain jobs?
@NadineDorries
What has he delivered?
180,000 Covid deaths
Highest tax rate since 1992
2,200 Food Banks
Fuel poverty
NHS at breaking point
Crops rotting in fields for lack of EU workers
Animals culled on farms for lack of EU vets
Raw sewage pumped into rivers and sea
Are these our priorities?
@ITVNewsPolitics
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
I don't want to be pedantic, but if checks on food imports from the EU would have been an act of self harm this year, won't they still be an act of self-harm at the end of next year?
@IsabelOakeshott
This is utter drivel even by your very high standards.
The UK has been sidelined in the key decision making forums because Johnson and Truss are not taken seriously by Western governments or by Russia.
Brexit has made the UK irrelevant diplomatically, politically and economically
@DPJHodges
Martin Lewis is holding Johnson and his absent government to account for the cost of living crisis, something a proper journalist would do as well. Do you know any?
@Conservatives
Er...
Priti Patel - secret meetings with Israelis
Alexander Johnson - secret meetings with KGB officer
Gavin Williamson - leaked National Security Council mtg
Truss - private phone hacked by FSB
Fuller - £700,000 from Chinese spy technology firm
Gove - leaking to Sarah Vile...
@NadineDorries
Couple of points.
1. You can't spell smorgasbord.
2. A smorgasbord is a range of open sandwiches and delicacies served as hors d'oeuvres or a buffet.
Tory MPs may be many things, but none of them can be described as a delicacy.
@JohnnyMercerUK
It's sad you can overlook all his glaring faults, his lies, his corruption, his complete lack of standards, morals and integrity, his failure to deliver the promised social care package for example, because he did one good thing. I speak as one of those veterans - he disgusts me.
@NadineDorries
Anybody who arrived in the UK as a refugee today who couldn't speak English would be forcibly deported to Rwanda.
Or had you forgotten that simple fact?
.
@JohnnyMercerUK
- as one retired officer to another, this is despicable.
Actions speak louder than words, and so does your inaction. A complete lack of leadership, integrity and moral courage.
@FriseSally
@BBCNews
£1,4000?
Where did she get it, Priti Patel's Phone Shop?
PS. Most people don't buy their mobile phones, they come as part of the package - £1.50 per day on Tesco Mobile.
PPS. You need a computer or mobile phone to use DWP services.
I hope you will find out one day for yourself.
@Edwina_Currie
I know this is hard to grasp, so I'll keep it simple.
The import regulations are British.
The Customs paperwork is British.
The non-tariff barriers are British.
The import taxes and excise duties are British.
All this is 'our' fault - except those of us who didn't vote for it.
@Q66Suzi
You're on the side of people who shorted the pound 2 weeks ago and have now taken their profits.
You're on the side of people who earn millions but pay no taxes.
You're on the side of foreign funded lobbyists who force vulnerable people into penury.
You're against people like us
@kevinhollinrake
People need to live where there is work.
Places where there is work are more expensive.
Living far from work incurs higher travel costs.
Public transport in the UK is very expensive.
Kirsty Allsop knows nothing about struggling to live.
Nor do you, as your expenses claims prove.
@juneslater17
I think you will find that it was Tory governments who did all of those things and it was nothing to do with the EU.
Still, let's not allow facts to get in the way of a good old anti-EU rant eh?
@AndrewRTDavies
Everything the First Minister said is true. His rage was entirely justified. You and your party have done all you can to destroy the NHS. It is time for your lies, corruption and criminal mismanagement to be exposed and those responsible to be held to account.
You are despicable.
@MarkReckless
@Tesco
Thanks for sharing this - good to know Tesco are supporting us so enthusiastically.
I'm not in Cardiff but will give it the maximum publicity and suggest to our local Tesco manager that he does the same.
@jfoster2019
@UKLabour
Was that when we had the 3 day week?
Oh wait - that was Heath's Tory government wasn't it?
It must have been the Poll Tax riots then?
Oops no - that was Thatcher's Tory government.
So must have been the anti-austerity demonstrations?
Well blow me down, that was Cameron's Tories.
@MrHarryCole
The point is Harry, and do try to keep up here, is Labour is expressing unity on imposing sanctions on Russia and its agents in the UK, while at the same time maintaining its position that Johnson, a clear Russian asset, should resign.
Two separate thoughts at the same time see?
@JohnnyMercerUK
@LindaBr07293431
You directly, and very childishly, criticised President Macron for his visit to and photograph with President Zelenskyy, but defend Johnson for doing the same thing.
You can't have it both ways.
@JeremyVineOn5
Are you seriously suggesting that Johnson be allowed to break the law with impunity? There is no justification for stopping the investigation into Johnson. As for his getting on with the job, his main concern is not cutting off the flood of Russian contributions to the Tories.
@OliverDowden
Dear Oliver,
It's very simple. We want to get every last Tory out of every last seat in every last ward, parish, town, borough, city, unitary authority, county and Parliamentary constituency.
Hope that clears things up,
Keir
@RussInCheshire
It says a lot about the state of the Mail's editorial team when a non dom hereditary peer who lives in France has to tell them they are out of touch.
This is
@kitmalthouse
MP for North West Hampshire. Despite his constituency including the River Test and a high proportion of rare chalk streams, he voted for another 15 years of dumping sewage into rivers and onto beaches.
@johnredwood
There are 130,000 NHS vacancies because the people who filled them have all gone home, thanks to you and the ERG/Bruges Group. There aren't enough trainee doctors to replace them or trainee nurses because the government stopped nursing bursaries.
The NHS staffing crisis is on you
@Mike_Fabricant
Liar.
She has a degree in Art History and Theatre Studies, worked briefly as a press officer and media adviser, was sacked as Head of Communications by CCHQ and is utterly unqualified for the Chief of Staff position at the FCDO or any ministry having never had such a role before.
@kruger4devizes
You really do live in an alternate reality don't you?
You were elected on the basis of a lie and have been exposed as failures.
You don't 'rule'. You don't govern either, you lurch from one crisis to another.
You are arrogant, condescending, hypocritical, corrupt, weak and shabby
More lies from 30p Lie.
My grandfathers were both miners, I grew up in a mining town and I know that miners did not work 7 days a week, in the 60s or in the 70s.
The reason we did not need foodbanks is because utilities were publicly owned and transport and food were affordable.
In the 70s working 7 days a week down t'pit my dad grew veg and kept chickens in our garden. That was our foodbank. My dad voted Tory for the 1st time in 2019. He will again at the next election. A great man. Comments turned off to send the left in to meltdown. But u can like 🙂
@nadhimzahawi
You were Chancellor for about 5 minutes, all while Johnson was out of the country on one of his many holidays.
As Mayor of London and as Prime Minister he was a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a man without morals, honesty, integrity or honour and a disgrace to the office.
He still is.
@OliverDowden
Quite right too.
I see nobody in the government has suggested that rail company executives lead by example and take a pay cut, forgo their bonuses, share options or chauffeured cars.
Before you criticise people earning £13 an hour, have a word with those on £1.3 million a year.
@tomhfh
Couple of points Tom.
Northern Ireland is not in part of Britain, it's part of the island of Ireland.
Every single person born in Northern Ireland is entitled to Irish citizenship under the terms of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.
Today is Wednesday.
Tomorrow is Thursday.
OK now?
@adampayne26
The takeaway from the document is that it is about losing their seats: not honour, integrity, morals or what is best for their constituents or the British people.
This is driven simply entirely by selfish self preservation and that is why we must get them out, every last one.
@JuliaHB1
Starved of funds by 12 years of Tory government, chronically understaffed because of Brexit, now the Tories won't fund enough medical degrees to fill even part of the vacancies, but still you push for privatisation.
Want to know why the NHS is on its knees? Look in the mirror.
@_HenryBolton
@trussliz
@kitmalthouse
I'm in my 60s and I can tell you categorically that none of the schools I attended, including a grammar school founded in 1139, taught the national anthem or flew the Union flag.
Also, using the late Queen's image on your profile is the sign of a faux patriot and complete fraud.
@chrischirp
@JohnWest_JAWS
This is what really worries me about family gatherings, even though all the adults have been vaccinated and we test regularly. I hate to sound like a latter day Scrooge, but I would rather we all stay safe than be sorry after the event.
@nadhimzahawi
Can they start with Dildo Harding and the missing £37 billion Test & Trace money, then Matt Hancock and the DHSC staff who gave corrupt PPE contracts to Tory donors, then Stumpy Sunak and the missing billions in Covid loans. Should keep them busy for a while.
@Ryan_Laccohee
After the 2010 general election. The Tories gave us
Austerity
Hostile Environment
Bedroom Tax
EU Referendum and Vote Leave lies
Farage and his fascist gang helped to vindicate all the nasty little Englander bigots and racists, but the Tories did this, and it's going to get worse.
@IsabelOakeshott
Lockdowns saved lives. The minority who criticised them should not forget how they ridiculed, vilified, bullied and smeared those who tried to protect us from selfish, inconsiderate prima donnas whose privileged lives were disrupted for a greater good. Time to say sorry for lying
@NadineDorries
So why are you trying to shut down Channel 4 News? It has fearless and fair journalists, unlike the Tory shills working for the Daily Mail, Daily Express, Sun, Times, Telegraph, Spectator, GB News, TalkRadio and TalkTV.
@MattScottMusic
It's not a presidential election, or hadn't you noticed?
You vote for the candidate in your constituency.
If you don't want Starmer as Labour leader, there are ways of dealing with that, but please don't tell me a Labour member or supporter shouldn't vote Labour because of it.
@Nigel_Farage
That's the Duchess of Sussex to you Farage.
But let's talk about a self-serving, destructive liar who has wrecked the UK instead shall we?
@TomTugendhat
You appear to be another living in an alternate reality.
He hasn't 'delivered Brexit', he didn't 'roll out the vaccine', he hasn't 'led on Ukraine' and he hasn't, in point of fact, resigned.
@johnredwood
More blatant Brexit lies.
UK manufacturing was exported to China. UK steel is undercut by China. UK car production was based on our membership of the EU. It has been destroyed as a result of Brexit, as has our fishing industry.
All EU Directives and rules were approved by the UK.
@IsabelOakeshott
@nytimes
Pretty much sums up you, your rich friends and your privileged lifestyle.
Millions go in this country are poor, cold and hungry but the estate of one of the richest women in the world can't pay for her own funeral.
Get in the bin.
@IsabelOakeshott
Stop and ask yourself why.
Then start campaigning for a properly funded, properly resourced, fully staffed NHS with modern buildings and equipment.
@LBC
@IanpayneLBC
It is time for us all to stand up and speak out against this appalling government's far right policies before the UK really is turned into the new fascist state.
Remember: everything the Nazis did in Germany was legal because they made it the law.
@andie1105
@BorisJohnson
I was born here. I served in the Army. I'm offended by your dog whistle racism, by Johnson, by every Tory who supports him, by the English government which thinks itself so superior it can dictate to Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and the flag which symbolises that superiority.
@benhabib6
@trussliz
The UK signed a legally binding international treaty with the EU. Northern Ireland remains within the EU Single Market and Customs Union. Customs checks for goods moving between the Single Market/Customs Union and the UK are part of that treaty.
Which bit don't you understand?
@kelvmackenzie
So hundreds of people are lying on the floor, some with broken bones, some dead. What do you do? Use their pain and deaths to increase your sales.
Unbelievable and beyond shocking.
@EssexPR
People will die this winter because they can't afford to eat, can't afford to heat their homes, are too sick to work and have been abandoned by the Tories.
@sabineschutte
I and millions of others will be sorry to see you go Sabine. The tragedy of Brexit is that so many good friends have been forced to leave by racists, bigots and xenophobes. The country is poorer for you going.
Take care and stay safe.
@danwootton
A real journalist might ask why. A real journalist might do some research. A real journalist would find the end of free testing meant fewer reported cases. A real journalist would report the 41,057 cases and 422 deaths in the 7 days to 22 May.
But not you
@johnredwood
Students accounted for 277,000 of total arrivals. Humanitarian and family visas accounted for 276,000, including 89,000 Ukrainians, 76,000 from Hong Kong and 21,000 Afghans or UK returnees from Afghanistan.
Who do you want to exclude? Will you condemn refugees to persecution?
