Law and order in this country is at risk.
Sunderland. Southport. Hartlepool.
The government must act before this situation spirals further out of control.

We cannot let rioting thugs and extremists win.
Their violence and attacks on the police can never be justified.
The Government must back our police to do what is necessary to maintain law and order and stop any further escalation.
The events we have witnessed overnight in Sunderland were totally unacceptable. As they were in Southport earlier this week and in Harehills in Leeds a fortnight ago.
We should never excuse, or be apologists for, disorder whoever is responsible. Violence and thuggery is always

This is Labour’s choice and they will have to own it - including the impact on pensioners, the NHS and social care.
Taxing independent education is wrong-headed for multiple reasons; accelerating it, without giving adequate time to prepare, is reckless. This risks untold disruption — including for many state schools.
They always planned to do this. It’s crystal clear now that Labour knew exactly what they wanted to do, but they refused to set out their plans at the election. I said as much here 👇🏻 during the campaign. It was all so predictable
