The Divine Liturgy refutes the Origenists: Jesus Christ is God (ὁ θεός), not only (anarthrous) "god" by predication (θεός). A small thread.🧵 "let us commend ourselves ... to Christ our God [Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ]" (Great Litany, Small Litany).

This is how you tell a journalist is dishonest: They come into a story with an angle rather than approach an idea and, through experience and research, find the story. A fact not lost on the educated either is what "guilty by association" means. But it is lost on journalists.

Mr. Papadimitriou gave a reason for why Prev Eugenia Constantinou was dressed in a way that I stated was "larping as a priest." You can see that it is in fact the same graduation cross given by Holy Cross, from where she graduated in 1996.

@maksimologija It is a tradition in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Non-ordained alumni have the blessing of the eparchial synod to preach and they do so wearing academic regalia of the school (which is the black robe/ medallion). Dr. Constantinou is not wearing priestly vestments.

The "Lord" is called "the true God" (τὸν θεὸν τὸν ἀληθινόν) in Isaiah 65:16 (LXX). St. Irenaeus of Lyons says this is the Son (Dem. 88), and so does St. Hilary of Poitiers (De Trin. 5.26ff). So the Father is not "the only true God" (Jn. 17:3) to the exclusion of the Son.
