โA French writer has said: โTo say to a person โI love youโ is tantamount to saying โyou shall never dieโ b/c it is a supreme affirmation of this person. A person who is thus affirmed cannot fall out of eternity, of Godโs eternity, b/c all love is of God.โ ~ Met. Anthony Bloom

Ok so wait: it took Congress over 8 months (!) to get a one-time (!) payment of only $600 (!) which for most people wonโt even cover the cost of one month (!) of rent ? All while they passed a $750 BILLION budget to increase military spending during peace time? This is shameful.
I once told my spiritual father, an older Greek man who is a simple but profound Orthodox priest, that I was raised as a Calvinist. He said โWhatโs that?โ I gave him a short explanation and he said, โOh. Well, thank God then that he saved you from something so stupid.โ

This is how the USA handles these things. We make MLK Day a federal holiday to say โlook how much we care about equalityโ & then totally sanitize his message to help us forget Kingโs critiques of American capitalism, militarism & racism that got him murdered by his own government
St Gregory of Nyssa continues to blow my mind:
โThe man who thinks that God can be known does not really have life; for he has been falsely diverted from true Being to something devised by his own imagination. This life-giving nature transcends knowledgeโฆโ
David Bentley Hart is the greatest living American religious thinker & writer. He is even perhaps, say, the C.S. Lewis of our generation.
And while DBH may not (yet) be as beloved as Lewis, heโs still a far greater genius & will perhaps even prove to have the greater influence..
What the Church has done to Origen of Alexandria over the last 1500+ years is a shameful crime. The vast majority of all those in power East or West have fallen short of his genius & saintliness. So why wonโt Orthodox & Catholic leaders be humble, admit we were wrong, and fix it?
St Gregory of Nyssaโs nickname was (and is) โThe Pillar of Orthodoxy.โ And Gregory was a relentlessly, brilliantly, unapologetically, and unashamed universalist. He believed that God would eventually, somehow, some way โ even if it took โagesโ โ save everything He created.
I just read the greatest Author's Preface that I have ever read in my life in Sergius Bulgakov's "The Lamb of God." Itโs one of those rare moments in reading, where a text โ only three pages โ has such spiritual power that the readerโs mind is transfigured by the glory of Christ.
David Bentley Hart raised enough to get his surgery done! Thanks to all who helped! He is getting the operation in Carmel, Indiana which is where my home parish is, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral (where some top-notch surgeons attend as well) ๐

Of course the animals will be saved! ALL CREATION has been saved by Christ! God has made His covenantal promise to Noah (ื ึนืึท or n-w-แธฅ or which means โrestโ or โcomfortโ) โ that is, with us, in the Church โ and He cannot lie.

I unexpectedly got tears in my eyes at the end of this. There is something in this that is so ..terrible & ..unnatural. How my soul longs for all creation to be at peace!
There is still some childlike hope in me that wants all of Godโs majestic creatures ..to be friends again.
Fr Pavel Florenskyโs โGehennaโ may be the single greatest essay Iโve ever read in my life:

The whole universalist vs infernalist vs annihilationist debate would dissipate into the oblivion of the abyss if we would just go & learn what this one saying of our Lord Jesus means: โI desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I came not to call the righteous, but sinnersโ (Matt 9:13).
I thought I had read a bunch of geniuses. And I have. ..But then I began reading Fr. Sergius Bulgakov.. This great man was & remains a towering, stupendous marvel of shining brilliance & originality. Along with Origen, he is the most impressive theologian I have ever encountered.
