I am overwhelmed by the 100% positive response to my
@GuernseyPress
column on my mental health. It wasn’t an easy decision to write it and I was concerned how people’s perception of me would change. But I felt an overwhelming urge to get the “seek help” message out to others.
@BladeoftheS
I’m not English but Brexit hasn’t turned out as bad as Remainers thought. Good to see the UK moving up the Global Exports table with new record Goods and Services exports. 4th in the world now I think.
Who agrees that
@BBCGuernsey
should now refer to
@gavinstpier
as our Chief Minister rather than our most senior politician? He is leading us through this crisis and we should acknowledge that publicly.
Well I did it. I went to La Fregate for a meal with a group of people I have worked with for so many years I almost count them as friends. It went well. My greatest concern of the evening was wondering how they cut a piece of toast so small to go with the fois gras…
Have you ever been out with your camera and taken a shot that you couldn't wait to get home and properly check it out to see if it was as you'd imagined? Here's mine.
She is quite wrong. Liberation is about our Island and not our Parish. The original Liberation Day had people flocking to Town to celebrate freedom. Town is where the Island community should meet and celebrate and it’s our biggest day of the year so we should do it proud.
The Deputy in charge of this year's Liberation Day celebrations has said they have struck the right balance following criticism last year that not enough was organised in St Peter Port.
Good Old Guernsey has come through yet again. Lost bag has been returned to a visitor after being handed in at the Police Station. She now believes Guernsey is the safest place on Earth. But we already know that.
The Education debate has confirmed my suspicions that the toxic nature of the ruling clique is driving me into the arms of
@PeterRoffey5
and
@gavinstpier
as a sort of automatic reflex.

The Royal Family cost every person in the U.K. about £1.50 last year. Aurigny cost every person in Guernsey about £300 each. The Royal Family is a bargain.
@Emmy_Lambie_Pie
I’ve not been one to favour public protest but I feel if we lose the field tomorrow we shouldn’t just take it. How much interference could the people of Guernsey run to make a point and delay the destruction for years? Extinction Rebellion chained to the trees perhaps?
I don’t believe the States of Guernsey has ever made me as grumpy as I am feeling now. A failed school and a field about to be sacrificed to save a few minutes travel time. I have no idea why these things have touched a nerve with me.
Big test of my rehabilitation into society tomorrow. I tested the water last month by going out with the family. It was fraught but doable. Bigger hurdle tomorrow with two external appointments including dinner at the Fregate with former colleagues. Anxiety level high… 😰
Because we find we love peaceful Guernsey we could after the Pandemic is over designate one day a week "Lockdown Day" where we close everything and encourage people to spend time at home in peaceful reflection. Possibly Sundays?
Proud Grandfather time. I’m all choked up reading Caleb’s final report from Elizabeth College. He has achieved so much in so many fields of endeavour and has given so much back to the young ones following in his footsteps. It describes the fine young man he has become. ❤️
Remembering a soldier who left the army in 1911. Tried to rejoin but serious heart condition failed his medical. 37 with a large family he did all he could to join up for WW1. Sent to Gallipoli he was repatriated and died 6 weeks before his daughter was born. She was my mother.😢
Today is the big day. If I don’t turn and run then I will be coming out tonight. If I can manage a black tie do tonight then my morning tea with the Governor in a week or so will be a walk in the park. Wish me luck.
How long is Guernsey going to keep talking itself down? Do we wonder why nobody will buy into the decline we are advertising? We have no rights, nobody wants to work here, nobody wants to holiday here etc etc etc Come on everyone it just isn’t true.
Sad news. Good for
@PeterRoffey5
and I’m pleased for him, but not such good news for us. I may not agree with his politics but he is one of our most capable politicians with an undoubted love of our Island and its community.
I don't want to be one of those proud Dad's who posts lots of pictures of their children's achievements but I just can't help myself posting
@HaleyCamp
's newest creation.
This is a selection of some of the paintings my very talented daughter produced as her Lockdown coping project. Now Lockdown is over I hope she doesn’t put her paints away.
Absolutely gutted to hear
@LeRoiHaptalon
has passed away. He was the absolute best of Guernsey Twitter and I'm going to miss him deeply. I'm lucky to have known him and had the benefit of his kindness & friendship over the years. He was one of a kind and I will never forget him
Remembering my mother today. Her soldier father died just before she was born. Brought up in poverty in Trinity Square she had to leave home at 13 to enter service in a big house. Evacuated, pregnant and with a toddler she held it together through the bombings. ❤️❤️❤️
...and here now are the questions that I have today lodged on Warren Gatland’s visit.
The Policy & Resources Committee has 15 days to respond.
I hope the answers will ensure that we finally have the complete picture so that a line can be drawn under the matter.
It was heartwarming this morning hearing a visitor to our Island describing it as a “paradise of quiet” with the “cleanest, freshest air” she has breathed. Do we put Guernsey down too much?
Just asked Alexa to play something by the
#Seekers
and she picked, The Carnival is Over. It’s just too much and I’m typing this through tears. RIP
#JudithDurham
, we’ll never find another you. 💔
Some of you will know I have a an issue interacting with the real world. Well this year I’m coming out. My first “event” is to be a black tie dinner. I’m not sure my children are helping by advising me not to speak to anyone because society has changed rules of acceptability. 😱
Meerveld and Vermulen? Really?
@sashakmiller
you have a great deal of work on your hands. I wish you luck. They turned down
@YvonneBurford
for Vermulen? The next general election can’t come soon enough.
Turns out His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey is a fan of my Guernsey Press column. I had a wonderful one on one with him at Government House. He is a very nice man.
Stunned following a thread on Facebook about a stolen iPhone. The owner is following its progress around the Island and can pinpoint the house it keeps coming back to in St Peter’s.
@GuernseyPolice
are too busy to investigate and suggested the owner go herself to ask for it back
Earlier today feeling a bit tired I went to bed for a nap. I woke up to find my cat in labour on my leg. Moved her to one side. We are now up to 3 kittens and I’m not sure it is over yet.
I have been invited by family to watch the Eng Fr match. Of course my initial reaction was to decline given the human rights issues of the host country. But then I was told about a Chinese Takeaway meal. Count me in!
@BladeoftheS
Do you mean it isn’t Democratic to have the unelected House of Lords blocking legislation? I never had you down as a House of Lords supporter. Are you a Monarchist as well?
Choose the tree wisely. In my mind only a magnificent oak tree will be a suitable memorial for this political giant who served us so well.
