🚨Breaking News: It has been revealed that Simon Hooper, the referee for Saturday’s game between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City used to own a Luton van. The Forest hierarchy are said to be furious about a clear conflict of interest and are demanding that he is replaced.
The minute’s silence was incredibly well observed by both sets of fans. Sadly, the irony was lost on a few fans at the back of the Kop when they started singing songs about Brian Clough’s dead body lying on the floor. I’m all for banter but crap like this needs calling out.
Today’s attendance saw us just edge past the quarter of a million mark for league games this season . It’s the first time we’ve had over 250,000 through the turnstiles for league games since 1976. The growth we are seeing at
@Official_NCFC
is a joy to behold 🖤
Ryan Schofield will no doubt take a hammering for his mistake tonight but let’s get one thing clear: he pulled off a massive save just minutes later and showed immense strength of character by not letting it get the better of him. Moments like that turn a boy into a man. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that we’ll soon find out Steve Cooper wasn’t the problem at Forest. The way they have handled the whole thing lacks real class too when you consider what he did for them.
Nottingham Forest confirms the departure of head coach Steve Cooper.
Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Steve for his superb contribution to our football club and wish him well in his future endeavours.
Fair play to the Southend fans today. To travel in such large numbers after what they have been through over the last couple of years, to sing pretty much from start to finish and for hardly any of them to leave until right near the end was a superb effort. Proper fans 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Watching
@JodsJones
is just an absolute joy. What a talent that boy is. He is clearly several levels above this league & he could well prove be the difference for us. If you haven’t been down to the Lane to watch him yet, treat yourself to tickets for Southend. He’s some player!
To those who weren’t there at the time, it’s hard to explain what a crazy time it was when Sven was at Notts. He brought an amazing charm & he sprinkled stardust wherever he went. Ultimately, he made the most selfless gesture to secure Notts’ future. We’ll never forget you Sven🖤
I’ve followed Notts for many, many years and in that time I’ve seen so many amazing moments but I don’t think I ever saw despair turn to unbridled joy quite like I did in this moment. A memory I’ll never forget, I’ll be forever grateful
@Aden_Baldwin
🖤
5 years ago today, Jim O’Brien signed for Notts County. He stayed loyal to us through thick and thin and now he finds himself in charge of the team. Whether it’s for 2 days, 2 weeks or longer, every Notts fan will be 100% behind him. Jim O’Brien’s black and white army 🖤
@dcfcofficial
Notts fans know what it was like to wake up each day wondering if it would be the club’s last day. So glad that the worry is now over for you. Here’s to a brighter future.
2023 has been such an amazing year for Notts County so, as it draws to a close, it seems only right to once again pay tribute to Jason Turner. He made an incredible contribution to the successes we have seen & the growth of the club. He’s greatly missed but his legacy lives on 🖤
To the small number of individuals who booed the Barnet players when they took the knee before kick off: maybe you now realise why they feel the need to do this every game.
Getting over 8000 home fans for a televised evening kick off is yet another sign of how we are growing as a club. We would have struggled to do that at any other time over the last 30+ years.
This man really doesn’t get the credit he deserves IMO. One of Notts County’s greatest ever captains. His song was simply ‘Captain fantastic’ & that’s exactly what he was. He led by example at a time when Wembley became our second home. Let’s have some Phil Turner appreciation 🖤
As Nottingham’s only professional club, I wonder if Nottingham City Council will be putting on a celebration event for Notts tomorrow like they did for our neighbours, even though they reside over the border in Rushcliffe 🤔
Here’s to Jason Turner, Colin Slater and so many Notts supporters who are no longer with us. I bet there are some huge smiles on faces up there tonight 🖤
Rumour has it that Matty Palmer has just run back out onto the pitch as somebody found a single blade of grass that he failed to cover during the game. A superb captain’s performance 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m told that Notts’ category 3 status has now been officially returned to the academy. That’s a massive moment for us. Hats off to the owners & all the parents for keeping things going financially & of course to all the coaches for all their work over the last 4 years.
Kyle Wootton put in another huge shift today. He brings so much more to the team than the impressive 20 goals he has scored. To those who have given him grief all too often, in the words of the song “I just don’t think you understand...” 🖤
I bloody love Jon Stead. He's been at Notts when morale has been at rock bottom yet he always puts in a real shift. He's been written off time and time again by certain Notts fans but with our backs against the wall he'd always be the first name on my team sheet.
#Notts
@Official_NCFC
He went to Bournemouth and took them to the Prem,
He went to Fulham and did the same again,
We think he’s magic, he shoots with either foot,
He’s Harry Arter, he’s taking County up.

When the fixtures come out in June, look out for the 14th game of the season because it will be our 5000th ever game in the football league and we’ve waited a hell of a long time for it to come along!
I thought this man was superb on his 150th appearance. His positioning was pretty much faultless and he played out some excellent passes from the back. Couldn’t be more pleased for him getting a clean sheet.
Luton Town are now just 90 minutes away from becoming the first club to go from the National League to the Premier League. If Notts ever need inspiration for what is possible, then look no further.
Just for a bit of context, last year, we had sold 3500 season tickets by July 4th. We’ve already sold over 4000 this year & it’s only June 1st. If we can pass 5000 & be challenging around the top 7, I don’t see why we can’t average over 9000. Let’s keep this club growing.
Here’s to the amazing
@Official_NCFC
ground staff who worked so hard through the night to try to get the game on. They must be gutted but their efforts are hugely appreciated. I hope you all get a good sleep today.
Just to dispel the myth being peddled by some of the usual suspects: it is possible to be really sad by Neal Ardley’s departure but still be fully behind Ian Burchnall.
We’re on the verge of breaking records for the most points, most goals scored and most wins in a season and some of our fans have apparently not only given up on the title but also the play offs. You have to wonder if they deserve any success.
Let’s get as many Notts fans down to Meadow Lane as possible on Saturday (10,000+ home fans). We have a team more than worthy of our support & if we play anything like we did against Grimsby, it’ll be worth every penny. Let’s get The Lane rocking.
My final thought for today goes to this man. Jason, you fought for this club when it was on its knees. Your fingerprints are all over so much of the success that we are enjoying on & off the pitch. We owe you so much. The whole club did you proud today. Rest In Peace 🖤
I totally get all the
#HardyOut
tweets but the players and management deserve credit for today. It must be hard coming to work each day not knowing what the future holds or if they will be paid. Well done boys 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Let’s hope for many more matches and victories to celebrate.
On Saturday,
@JodsJones
is set to make his 50th appearance for Notts. There must have been some darker moments when he wondered if he would play another 50 minutes of professional football. Hard work & incredible resilience have paid off & we’ve been the lucky ones to benefit 🖤
Once again, hearing all 3 home stands singing together was a joy to behold. Savour every moment Notts fans. We’ve fought our way through so many terrible times for days like these.
We’re about 1/4 of the way into the season. Who is your Notts player of the season so far? I think I’d go for Jacob Bedeau. He’s consistently performed at a high level from the 1st game. Strong at the back & great on the ball going forwards. One of the L2 signings of the summer.
My son has been writing a mystery story in his English lessons at school. His characters include Detective Langstaff, Mr Williams, Slocombe the doorman, Rodrigues the gardener and a young boy called Cedwyn. Can’t think where he gets his inspiration from

Notts were promoted in 1923 and we were promoted in 2023. You mark my words, 2123 will be an amazing season. Feel free to bookmark this and come back to me if I’m wrong.
If
@Official_NCFC
ever have a song to kick-off matches to like Sheffield United do with You Fill Up My Senses, I reckon it could be this (apologies for the terrible video skills!).
Well done Fulham. Think we need a ‘The world’s oldest professional football club’ tweet from
@Official_NCFC
just to further hammer the message home to Crystal Palace.
Last season, a group of players let our club down so badly and we paid the ultimate price. Neal Ardley has built a team full of warriors who give their all every week. If you were in any doubt (not that you should’ve been) we well and truly have our club back 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️
Notts owner accidentally tweets photo of his nether regions and within no time
@NottinghamPost
are, for want of a better phrase, ‘all over it’. Forest owner is to stand trial for match fixing and forming a criminal gang and so far the silence is deafening 🤔
My 2 boys and I popped down to Meadow Lane earlier with about 60 ice poles to hand out to the staff and players. We missed the players but they’ve been put in the freezer so make sure you all get one tomorrow

Congratulations to
@Kyle_Wootton_9
on reaching 300 appearances. It’s great to see him doing so well at Stockport. He’s their top scorer and the 5th highest goal scorer in League 2. A true professional who deserves all the success he gets 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

, who celebrated his 300th senior appearance on Monday with two goals for Stockport County! 👑✨

Last year we were thrashed 5-1 by a team who ended up relegated & were easily outclassed by a L1 team in the cup. This year, with several key players injured, we had a solid draw at Tranmere & drew away at a L1 club, completely outplaying them in the 1st half. Perspective needed.
A year ago today was a significant day in our recent history. Ian Burchnall walked out on Notts & we’ve never looked back. Luke Williams has been a huge upgrade in every single way: performances on the pitch have been exceptional & the connection with fans has never been better.
Macca got on in the 88th minute today and if you add together his total time on the pitch in Millwall’s 3 league games so far he’s had less than a half a match 😞. I’m not sure how he is ever supposed to prove himself if he never gets more than a handful of minutes at a time.
Saw this on Facebook. Food for thought. Nobody’s happy with how things are going & no doubt some will criticise this guy for being a ‘happy clapper’. I don’t know who he is but I’m guessing he feels the pain just as keenly as everybody else. He did his bit on Saturday 👏🏻
In our last home game, we were about 20 home fans short of 10,000. Next week it’s 1st v 2nd at Meadow Lane. It’s time to pack out those stands even more and show this team that we are 100% behind them:
Because we need each other, we believe in one another 🎶🖤
One of the many benefits of the bigger attendances is that the singing is really starting to spread around the Pavis & the Family Stand, making the atmosphere so much better. When you add the quality of football on display, it makes Meadow Lane a great place to be at the minute.
