@Wizarab10 You are in UK, go for HB Genotype. They will do a HPLC Genotype for you which is very accurate and gives you the percentage of each of the hemoglobin variant. The result will be like Hb A:100% or HbA: 60%, HbS: 40% in that format.

In Blood Banking, the only time you can transfuse a HIV positive blood is in autologus transfusion where the blood was donated by same person. Outside that there is no exception not even to another HIV positive patient ✌🏾

@Letter_to_Jack Medical doctors don't run blood banks. The standard guideline is 6months after the tattoo here ( some countries 3months). If you are not allowed because of tattoo, ask to see the medical lab scientist in charge of the blood bank. Sometimes the assistants and tech don't know

Those are demographic data and has relevance in patient management. Example you will be careful of transfusion if patient is A jehovah Witness, suspect Schistosomiasis in male patient from riverine area with hematuria. So many context where this is relevant.

While I understand the OP is trying to pass a message, quoting a wrong data is deceit. I have worked with highest HIV risk population MSM/ FSW and you can't get 60% testing positive, lol. This is lamba. Only way you get that high is confirmatory testing for already tested.
