Shankar Mahadevan has a degree in Computer science and software engineering. Sudha Murty has a Masters in Engg. from IISc and was the first female engineer at India's largest auto company. Both are honoris causa doctors. But am sure they arent good enough for this journalist.
@rishilectual
Imagine thinking you are entitled to any girl just because you passed some exams, which have nothing to do with how you are as a human being or life partner.
At least I don't remember the Chief Minister bowing down in front of the people.
#MukhyaSevak
? After bitter politics, such gestures, even if they may just be gestures, seem reassuring to the common people.

That's basic educational qualification. A brilliant singer and musician, who can sit for a Carnatic concert and then sing for a jazz concert in the same evening, it won't be wrong to call him a musical genius, though his commercial work makes people forget that.
@malnadkoos
Lol no. That's Maharashtra's money. And we are happy if our brothers and sisters in UP do well and eventually start helping other states too.
@Ancientcons
For all those saying there would be colonies on Mars and the Moon, please tell me more about the Great Scandinavian Space Program. Have they reached the moon yet?
@indic_mangifera
There are others on the panel who are. Murty runs the Infosys Foundation, an NGO which does a lot of work in the area of education, as well as healthcare etc., for 27 odd years. Her contribution will be valuable.
@LaurenWitzkeDE
Fun fact: Your national anthem was written on a ship (HMS Minden). That ship was made in Bombay, India.
The "Pajeets" giveth, and the Pajeets taketh away.
Now, sit down, racist.
@Herman_Gomes
Sure. Hate Indian tourists. But allow local taxi mafia to extort money from same tourists. Allow Russian and other gangs to do what they want. And then use a cow slur, because apparently you know all these people's birthplace personally.
@ARanganathan72
@PMOIndia
The BF7 variant has been in India since October 2022, and thankfully, we haven't seen large-scale problems. So, let's hope that there is some level of immunity now.
@nramind
He is as free to put forth his opinion on social media as you are, and a quick read through your tweets, and in fact, this very tweet itself, makes it clear who likes to "pontificate".
Interesting indeed to hear (ex-) editors asking others to stick to their own field.
@amitsurg
In the priority list of people to be blamed, Nehru ji would be pretty low down the order. Tribal elders almost completely to be blamed. If Nehru didn't know the customs, the tribals ought to have had the sense to understand that it was an honest mistake.
These are the achievers and activists who need to be celebrated and honoured, unlike media-savvy children pushed by their more media-savvy parents, who tend to be famous for being famous, with little achievement to their name.
This list names me and 27 others as key UN influencers - on loving mother nature.
Imagine if a list - is prepared for loving your mother or families this way. Millions will make to the list.
That's what's is required - to save our planet . List of millions.
Thanks

"Britain knows what it means to fight for freedom."
Errr...the only reason Britain knows it is because so many countries fought against Britain for their freedom.
@acorn
Disagree. There is clearly a thing like overpopulation, relative to resources and level of development. And level of governance. We are there.
Also, even theoretically, there will be a physical limit to population, no?
@ImtiazMadmood
This is the original. The first word in the seventh line is: catuḥsraktirdiśo
(Catuh means four and disho means disha- direction). My Sanskrit is far from good, but I believe it means four directions, not corners
@MacaesBruno
LOL, why would we want you guys to freeze? Europeans are not very high on the list of most Indians. I'm assuming it's the same the other way too. In fact, am sure of that.
@anandmahindra
The song, lyrics and overall production quality made me look at the the old Vicco Vajradanti ads with new-found respect. If this is what the British Indians make in 2019, Vicco Vajradanti was way ahead of its time.
@dailystar
Reminder: People of 15 countries have the king of England as their king. Their citizens take an oath to be faithful to, and bear allegiance to, a member of this family. Personally, can't imagine being beholden to this incorrigible family.
It should be" God save the citizens".
@ShashiTharoor
Not a big fan of the photo on the card, but not sure if I would take the word of a blues bar gatekeeper so seriously either. That guy gives off drunk hobo vibes. The larger issue is about Indians seeking validation from/settling personal scores using outsiders.
@Indian10000000
As I have mentioned in other responses, they aren't the only ones in the panel. Also, Murty is an accomplished author, Mahadevan is a musical genius. We need diverse ideas in framing our textbooks.
@GalenMetzger1
@SakethSD
Wait, one of the oldest continuous human civilizations has no clear national identity? It is the civilizational identity that nourishes the national identity in case of India.
I have no position to take on the rest of the argument, or boorish positions by either side.
@OmarAbdullah
I agree. I conceptualized the Mumbai Ahmedabad bullet train in my mind 15 years ago, while traveling that route. I should get the credit once it starts running in 2027.
@calm_sutra
I hope they learn

quickly. Otherwise, we Maharashtrians will force them to go back to their state.
(That's sarcasm. It won't happen. We are not like them....mostly, of course)
@TheEconomist
Wasn't the PM of New Zealand a role model? Weren't heads of countries with 200 times the population of New Zealand supposed to take notes from her leadership? Glad NZ is in Asia now. Easier to learn from them.

"It is obscene, vulgar and improper for a (sic) 18 year old student to see his professor dressed in scanty clothes..."
So, why was your son doing it, Mr. B K Mukherjee?
@AditiThorat
@narendramodi
Personally, I am "deeply disturbed" that you think Mr.Jaishankar is the Finance Minister of India. You need to have some basic awareness before getting offended. Hope this comes under "listening to criticism" and you will learn from this.

@Ancientcons
Naming elements is more important than counting? LOL. Oh by the way, Mendeleyev gave not-yet discovered elements the prefix eka-, which was derived from the Sanskrit Eka, which means One. So, yes, even naming elements had an Indoan aspect to them.
@NITINKML
So, he gets in because of his musical qualifications. Doesn't exactly weaken his nomination, does it? And keep your ad hominem attacks to yourself. You cut a sorry figure when you blindly accuse others of being in certain camps.

The millions of milll workers who came from nearby Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra had no sweat glands in their bodies, apparently?

I marvel at how much the Pakistanis, especially the elite, suffer from confirmation bias, especially about India. Arundhati Roy should be given a medal for feeding this bias.

Mona Lisa was made in 1503. The other was made anywhere between 1860-1900 approx. Mona Lisa set the stage for a new type of style, which became iconic in Art, across the world. Perhaps even inspiring the second painting. Let us not make such facile 'analysis' to pat our backs.
@varungrover
Oh come on, Varun! Banging plates etc. was done in many cities outside India too, to encourage frontline staff. Nobody claimed it would make the virus disappear, except some calendarally challenged actors. Let's not demean a sign of appreciation, however basic it seems to us.
Is it possible for all Punekars to come together, buy land, get world-class experts and get a "private" airport built? There are enough industrialists in Pune who can work together to finance this.

I know it sounds a little crazy, but it's worth a try.

So, now we are moving from Scandinavians to White? By that logic, the 'Browns' taught the world to count (i.e., do advanced maths). Try launching anything more than a firecracker without using Indian numerals.
This racial superiority will get all of us nowhere.

The one on the left has terrific facial bone structure, great hair and deep eyes. She would have been very beautiful in her youth. But then, she has dark skin, so how can she be beautiful in your eyes, right?

Forget the heinous caste-play here, this fellow doesn't even get the irony of writing this sitting in Uppsala. He's sick, and one thing he has is irony deficiency.

Your maid + 17 family members >>> Kaushik Basu's taxi drivers.
After all, his taxi drivers are mostly outside India, they can't vote.

Yes, threatening someone for a harmless (though tasteless) joke looks great on Thane police. Having solved all other problems, they are looking into such critical matters. Wonderful.

He at least has a PhD which mentions the word "History". Tharoor has a doctorate in "International Relations and Affairs" (not making this up) and Sardesai has an M.A. and LLB.
(Ram Guha has a PhD in forestry!)
Vikram was the most qualified to talk about History on that stage.

Doctors and their families can no longer enjoy free trips for conferences unless they're speakers.
-> pharma companies will ensure every doctors gets 3 mins to speak. Introduction, favourite colour etc. :)

To add to that, India was able to launch a craft on the south side of the Moon within 75 years of gaining Independence from European dictatorial rule.

100-93.6 = 6.4%.
(6.4% of Indian population is at risk of death due to Corona).
The vaccine will help save 94.5% out of this 6.4% as well.
In a country of a billion+ people, that is a huge number.
It is a difference between 88,618,262 people dying vs 4,874,004 people dying.
@nntaleb

please take action against this individual for disclosing personal details of an Indian citizen.

Your argument would hold if we were talking about India, where caste discrimination is still an ugly reality. It makes no sense in an international/American context, where competition is not skewed due to caste.

Hey
@katierosman
, I believe you wrote this article. Why don't you write an article against Arthur Gregg Sulzberger in the NYT? Has there ever been a single article written against him in the NYT? Something something glass houses stones?
@doubtinggaurav
Andaaz Apna Apna is a good one time watch. Weak script held up by decent acting, and that too by the supporting actors, not the main cast.
Nowhere near a cult film.

Having observed Rajan ever since his Governorship at RBI was not renewed, I strongly think he keeps responding from a place of anger, not objectivity.
