For the price of a brand new one of these. You could literally get a brilliant used car. Not this. It doesn't always have to be a brand new car. Leave the emotions aside when you look at cars. Brand new isn't necessary especially when the car is unsafe.

Please idle your cars. 2 to 5 minutes from a cold start. Ignore the dash. OEMs tend to give sketchy advice sometimes and that's what lands you back at the service shop. Start and drive a cold engine? Cold and extreme heat? You'll crack your block, plus they're weaker now.

Another day under the sun and a healthy CLP doing 212 000 in for service. Also found water in the cooling system, rust was flushed out and replaced with antifreeze. I really love how long these VW engines can run with cheap maintenance, car still has all its power. Still punchy.

The camshaft issues with the EA888 show themselves on engines with bad tunes and cars that have been abused with late servicing and redlining after a cold start. It's the lobes that wear out due to irregular oil supply at high rpms and the oil viscosity being too thin. Careful

The truth is that Golf GTI/R engines actually don't like the constant abuse, the camshafts wear out a little earlier (oiling issues) turbos hate the high heat. If you're gonna look at cheap manual GTIs, add this to the list. It's a much more robust engine. And it has a real LSD

Slept on. Get the 2.0 and you're set. Good power, no turbo complications so one less thing to have to fix outputs: 121Kw and 213Nm✅️ 6.3l/100km ✅️ 4 cly no turbo ✅️ Around 800km on a single tank (this I want to test myself)

Polo 9n3 GTI, had one of the best VAG engines, top 3 in my opinion. The 1.8Turbo 20Valve still used injector rails, a more reliable ko3 TURBO and the engine was detuned in this model for what it could do and that's one of the things that made this car more reliable.

Here she is. The only version of the Polo hatch you should be buying. The 1.6 MPI, most of this engine's topology is from the 9n3 bujwa Era solid and reliable with cheap parts. Don't buy the 1.0 TSI we are digging people out of holes with that engine smd VW won't help

Soo yesterday we went to go look at a car, a beater... body needs some work, suspention feels great, engine still has all its horses and all the electronics work, even the AC compressor kicks and the lines get cold. 275k kms. No engine noises 😫wow! Honda maan!

I tell my buyers to avoid the Haval, GWM and now BAIC. Firstly if an engine and gearbox are terrible then there's nothing about the car that'll make it more reliable. No amount of "cool tech" will make it better because the propellers are bad. Engineering is everything. Careful

Look guys. If you have to buy a car like this, please expect that something might have to get fixed. Even if the listing says "start and go" might be later down the line but the trick with older cars is to get them as cheap as possible then get preventative maintenance done.

I appreciate the trust I get from you guys. This Figo first came in for a clutch then I found other issues then owner decided I keep it til I'm happy with it. So: removed and resealed exhaust, changed all 4 leaking injectors and weak pump, fixed pcv system, coil, plugs, maf, o2.

2023 Ranger. Just over 1000kms, with an ABS fault. Some of the Australian lawsuits had relation to this. Careful if your going to pick one up, even if it's brand new. These cars are being plagued with design flaws and some are mechanical... Built Ford Tough? I've been skeptical

Literally the The best engines VW sells are the 1.4 and 1.6 MPI from the Polo Vivo range, the caddy and the Polo sedan. That's what you buy from VW. Avoid TSI badge if you want reliability... GTI engines are a hit or miss after warranty. Rainy day fund or extended warranty

Here's the thing with virtual screens on everything. Besides cost, blue light isn't good for your eyes. Constant synthetic light reduces eye sight and vision quality over time. If you can, get a car with normal dials for main cluster and a screen for infotainment instead of both.

Modern turbo charged cars use direct injection which results in carbon fouling on the valves. Noticed with VAG in the 7.5 and 1st edition AW GTI that they mitigated this by adding low pressure injectors on the intake manifold to assist with cleaning. They're more reliable now 🥹

The vivo still uses an injector rail to deliver fuel which sprays past the valves and cleans them and the intake ports. TSI direct injectors spray fuel "directly" into the combustion chamber. One of the reasons the fuel consumption gets worse over time.

So on Sunday we had a house call for a stanced TDI 9N3 sump job. Guys. Afyer 3 hours of struggle trying to lift it up, jack stands wouldnt fit, jacks wouldnt fit, dug holes on sand.I declined because the car was too low, there's a reason why this stuff is illegal 😅 no more

Everytime I deal with an NP200 there's always a clunk from the front suspention. 🙄 Number 4. Could this be a factory fault or premature wear of components because this one has only done 33k kms 🤔. The brakes were also done at Nissan but the squeal 🙃. Anyway. Service!

Another 1.6 CLP in for a thermostat replacement. Guys please do these on time I struggled with the T30 bolts because it's been leaking coolant and it also seized the bolts to those threads. But we win. The bottle also leaked. Typical VAG stuff. I'm happy the parts failed right.

I don't hate all 3 cylinder turbo engines. Just the poorly designed ones which is almost all of them besides the unit in these cars. Outgoing Toyota CEO believes in doing things he right way, which is one of the biggest reasons they built this so well. Consumer in mind.

And here's another car that should be avoided, number 3 this year out of service plan and warranty and its already giving problems at 55k kms. Dealer serviced 2k kms ago. Ford only said battery change, but theres a sound coming from valve cover. Slipping wet belt❌ 3 cylinder❌

No crank no starts are becoming my thing hey 😄. Polo Vivo was sick today owner thought starter brushes. This is why I work like a technician, because testing. Took it out, tested and motor worked fine. Kgante solenoid and a nonexistent starter ground 🫠 Rebuilt the whole thing.

Suzuki Swift Sport. Engine: K14C. 1.4 Turbo. I'm still waiting for common issues, I've heard the odd timing chain stretch at 150 to 200k kms plus but I haven't spoken to an owner with issues. Like the previous gen. They all seem happy. This car needs more attention ✅️

Driving everything In this picture today 😁. The mini was surprising, punchy, takes corners like a go kart nyana. New 5 series chassis is very good I might add, feels like a much smaller vehicle, loved the turning radius. M850i next 😭

You can't expect a 1.4 liter engine to carry 1.5 tons of SUV with 4 heavy passengers reliably for long. It's stressed, it'll constantly have to rev a little higher to pull the weight. Those small piston and that tiny turbo won't be happy for long. VW Tuguan on a flatbed, again...

Guys I don't care what your car or the OEM book says. On olderPlease shorten your service intervals with these modern turbo engines to 10k kms, they're more sensitive to oil degradation. WTF is 20k kms plus without an oil change?? Then you wana call brands unreliable? La gafa.

Being a Mechanic sometimes sucks. Now BMW has an event I would've loved to attend. But we help people that's the job 🙂 successfully rebuilt another power steering pump. Good day. I'm happy Khenkhing! Saves my life
