@ConnieSchultz The part not named is when children won’t take any food rather than risk the embarrassment of that sandwich. They go hungry. And learning and self regulation becomes difficult in addition to the rest of the trauma here.

I was obsessed with The Once and Future King as a kid, and still read it every year. Many editions live in this house but the 2003 @foliosociety edition has eluded me. I’d find a copy and it would be too pricey, too damaged, etc. My daughter brought me a perfect copy today. ❤️❤️

Two or three years ago, I “cleaned up” all of the books in my bedroom that I had finished reading by stacking them like this on top of a dresser. They are still there. I just dusted them. The irony of the housekeeping book there has not escaped me.

Almost forgot. Here’s what I read in November. Plus Suspended Sentences by Modiano. Enjoyed Modiano mini-immersion immensely and mean to keep reading his work. Bambi left quite a mark on me. And Trust was a great surprise. I was listening to the wrong half of a divided audience.

My son and I hit the little free library trail today with two big boxes of books. We use the map on the LFL site, straighten the libraries as we go, and leave some good books behind. 9 visits today. Then we get a milkshake.

Here’s what I read in June. I also enjoyed two more Blake mysteries but I can’t find them to show you. And I’m currently disinclined to search. Lolly Willowes was the best of the stack. Bloomsbury’s Outsider was wonderful entertainment. Gossipy and erudite in one thick book. Yum.

Read in January. There is all sorts of wonderful in this stack, but my favorite was The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington. Highly recommended to all who prefer thoughts about aging, feminism, genre and other topics not trimmed up into neat packages. Refreshing,imaginative.
