Ladies and gentlemen, I’m a history man. I do my own tweeting, and the threads I tweet are written by me. I make it my business to read and learn history. I don’t steal tweets and claim them as my own. I make my own memes. I’m sure you’ll agree I’m a history man.

One of the most annoying things with archaeology is this idea that taking things and preserving them in a museum is always theft if the museum is outside of that country when the reality is that much (perhaps most) of this would have been destroyed.

A little fact check for St. George’s Day: Saint George wasn’t Turkish. There were no Turks in Anatolia (present day Turkey) at that time. He was a Roman citizen and a Cappadocian Greek. He wasn’t English either. Many patron saints aren’t from the countries which venerate them
