Cyberbullying typically targeting women in the media/entertainment scene, has been a tool to silence them. We see how party footsoldiers use sexism & threats of sexual harrasment (eg. "ashawo", "ugly"). Let's not downplay this type of online violence that's been normalized here.

Martin Kpebu said the president must resign. I am glad to hear this on a national platform. This must be part of the national discourse. #Newsfile

#OccupyJulorbiHouse is dismantling the Akufo Addo’s packaging for the African diaspora. That president is an insensitive autocrat. He doesn’t care about freedom or justice.

The same boys who dey wear dresses doing their hall weeks are here saying what? And lets not forget the various indigenous festivals with young men enjoying themselves in beautiful dresses. We have a rich history of this.

What happened to @BlitzAmbassador is precisely why the President's idea to make French an official language is misguided. There are similar local language communities across our borders that we barely acknowledge or even cultivate.

We're raising a generation of young people who causally issue threats of violence online - from threatening to rape someone with a pole to burning people. Check out some of the comments under the news story posts about the LGBTQ community in Ghana. How this doesn't frighten...

Grown adults fighting so hard to deny students an education because of outdated racist rules about African hair. Chale, may this younger generation aspire to be different from my generation.I am so disappointed by the verbal gymnastics to justify religious discrimination.

#DearGhana State security forces cannot be allowed to kill people with such impunity. These forces must be held accountable. The police beat and killed a '48-year-old farmer called Abu Bukari Bahala' (April, 2021). #FixTheCountry #FixTheCountryNow

How though? Ghana has lost a significant amount of forest cover which impacts food production, our healthcare is horrible, we have high youth unemployment, etc. How did you arrive at this conclusion ignoring these real challenges facing Ghanaians. And folks be saying amen too.

We don't do enough research in this country. We have thousands of national service personnel who could be excellent research assistants. We could be doing nationwide studies on various issues. These studies will then inform policy direction. Bhet we undervalue research.. #citicbs

Police/Military brutality in Ghana: A thread This is not normal. There must be more outrage, more sustained demands to #endThebrutality . The episodic bursts of outrage will not change these repressive state institutions.

Maybe, just maybe, we are building spaces that are in conflict with how we actually live. Maybe we should start our designs from how we live. Like build roads with street hawkers in mind, you know they will come. This is what happens when you import solutions wholesale. #CitiCBS

So Sam George makes unsubstantiated claims on a media platform and it is amplified without fact checking. Profs Manuh and Gazdekpo have been human rights advocates (women, media freedom)for decades. They have remained consistent about the need to uphold rights in Ghana.

I am reporting media interviews in which misinformation is unchallenged. The refusal to ensure that claims made on your shows are factual is very concerning. On the matter of LGBTQ+, why are false statements and discriminatory speech allowed to stand unchallenged?

“Counselor” Lutterodt didn’t happen over night; radio, tv, producers, presenters etc all contributed to his notoriety. People chose “ratings” over respect, they enjoyed him mocking women, calling them ashawo and egged him on. If I see any of you people tweet about this eh 🙄

While Rwanda is closing down radio stations for allowing pastors to claim that women are 'evil”, “prostitutes” and that they [are] behind all the world’s problems.' This what we use our freedom speech for, bankrupt theologies that produce/justify hate.
