@sachee RPC is also generally local communication, so that shouldn’t really affect anything in other countries (latency back and forth would). I would assume that Elon just sees stats and immediately thinks it’s hard the problem because he appears to think software is that simple.

@Swizec Honestly, if I’m having a particularly bad/ croggy day, I forget stuff like this too. It’s part of being human. Best thing to do is to help the candidate identify where they went wrong for the future and move on. Not a fan of calling people out, we all have bad days.

@AdamRackis I mean it’s literally just a caching service, the website isn’t hosting the devil 😂. Vercel has the right to choose who they want on their platform and all but you really don’t have to have to put across like the guy is building the anti christ. It’s just web archive.

@nixcraft To be fair, for a lot of people, the better answer is probably just cloudflare. Let’s encrypt is probably going to open a world of pain for a lot of people, and that’s if they get past working out that it’s a service not a saying 😂

@americanwombat 0 as a number becomes a timestamp so you get start of epoch. As a string, you’re passing a formatted date, 0 is taken as the year and js infers that you don’t want to go back to the 19th, so you get the first month of the 20th. Pretty simple stuff, learn your language kids!

@mr_james_c Air con is at fault for nearly 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly half of that is co2 leakage from units and manufacturing of units according to research. It’s about the full cost. .

@_saagarjha I think it’s actually a bit simplistic than that, their build tool publishes new files with hashed versions in the name to allow for cache busting. A lot of services do this and it just happens whenever YouTube is deployed, which is often.

@BriannaWu @elonmusk Yup this is expected. Fire half of your team, expect around 25% on top to quit. And it’ll be the most senior and secure to quit first. The leftover 25% are either heavily invested, enjoy the company or just waiting for a new position. Expect massive yearly turnover.

@paulbyrail You know what would be great? If they added a section above each platform that showed which trains were about to leave from there… Something like a departures board maybe? And then you could easily see when and where your train was without standing awkwardly with 100 ppl.

@ggwhiting Well built machines with well maintained software that the majority of applications that we use support. That’s basically it. What you want in engineering is repeatability, if you have ten different laptops in your team, everything becomes hard to reproduce.
