The Solana ecosystem has seen impressive growth and adoption in recent months, reaching new yearly highs in DeFi TVL, DEX trading volume, $SOL price, and many other metrics.

Awesome comprehensive overview on euro stables 👏
This graphic really paints the picture on the current state of euro stables, how are only <10% in the EU!!?
Quartz is taking part in Enterprise Ireland, starting next month. This includes includes expert 1:1 mentorship, network growth, and access to R&D facilities. Big things coming...
Self custody important and necessary for crypto to succeed.
For most in crypto this fact is obvious, but for others this fact is starting to be watered down and even overlooked.
Fuse is a perfect remedy for this, self custody is now easier and safer than ever.
With traditional wallets, your seed phrase, key pair, and account are intrinsically linked — creating a single point of failure.
Here's how we mitigate that risk with Fuse, Solana’s most secure wallet ↓

At
@quartzpay
we are building for exactly this future.
1. Off / on-ramp 2. mobile first 3. native DeFi integration.
Step 1 coming in the new few weeks…
The most optimal crypto consumer experience is to get account/wallet creation and crypto/fiat on ramp to sub 1 minute or 5-6 steps, all natively within the app.
Once we get there, then we can start talking about "mass adoption" and bringing more users into crypto. Until then
Self custody === crypto. You can not add centralization onto decentralized infrastructure without things breaking.
Right now there are things on CEX's you can do that you can't on self-custody rails, one that stands out is spending crypto.
We are building

to fix
Nah for real though, the onboarding process for

Apple Pay for on ramping really reminded me of adding money onto Revolut. - Zero fees too was a very nice touch.

is the most egalitarian thing we've ever seen. It's insanely ambitious, and if it works, can really reshape the fabric of society
So fun fact, if you're on Anchor 28 you can't upgrade to using Solana cli 1.18+ for testing, because test.validator.clone entries are no longer executable. You will get an error that is "This program may not be used for executing instructions" when you CPI.
Joys of Solana dev.
Self custody needs to be even more secure than banking in order to get the average user.
For crypto natives: financial reward > saftey
For non crypto users: financial saftey > reward.
Saftey is one of the banks OG benefits, it was needed 2000 years ago & it's needed today.
@BamMetaX
@zkemail
Yeah you do. Losing 100% of your money to a wallet screw up is more expensive than any gas fee, and more of a loss than any defi yield can make up for.
Wallet security is probably the
#1
crypto UX issue.
Why don’t more people talk about stables besides the USD ones?,
USD stables are great for US people and those that have crazy inflation on their local currency.
However if your local currency isn’t really like that eg EUR, CHF,
Local denomination stables help with on/off
There's more to stablecoins on Solana than just USD! There's EUR, CHF, CAD, ISK, BRL, MXN, TRY, AUD and more to come.
If you use the fiat version of those currencies, please drop a comment on what you'd like to see the stablecoins be able to do.
Singapore had so many payment options, by far the coolest imo is paynow - send bank transfers using someone’s phone number.
Makes P2P bank transfers viable for paying for things at restaurants and shops.
3/ Banks were a brilliant innovation, offering safe storage, interest earnings, and loans! However, problems like bank robberies, fraud, and bank runs emerged...
Great article talking about some historical bank runs
5/ Yet, these issues persisted. The 2008 financial crisis gave birth to crypto and Bitcoin as solutions - self-custodial, peer-to-peer, and trustless, using internet rails🌐
2/ Crime was rampant, especially robberies and burglaries. People started trusting custodians to keep their valuables safe, leading to the rise of banks 🏦
6/ These technologies are the future for self-custody wallets, and Coinbase knows this. To avoid being displaced and disrupted, they are part of the charge pushing and developing the self-custodial future that Bitcoin originally envisioned.
4/ These set ups let you spend your crypto but at the expense of self custody.
Self custody is core to crypto. It is one of cryptos most important aspects, not just for the ideals that it enables but also for safety it provides.
7/ Enter big centralized exchanges like Binance & FTX, bringing back issues like theft, corruption, and bank runs. Unlike traditional banks, governments can't insure crypto assets, causing these problems to persist.
@cemarcann
I definitely agree, the end goal of crypto is will make p2p payments the way that people pay for everything. And there is a lot of really good teams building this future out however I believe that we are a long way from that especially in more development countries with decent

A Thread🧵
6/ There needs to be a way for people to use their crypto IRL while keeping complete control of their funds at all times and without the need to trust anyone to not drain your wallet.
This is why we are building Quartz.
1/ Currencies need to be used as a medium of exchange, to pay for things. The end goal is always for P2P crypto payments to take over and there is a multitude of amazing teams building this future.
6/ Early crypto had challenges: difficult security, lack of real-world use, and no interest or loans. The tech and the general public weren't ready, leading to a resurgence of custodians.
Btw Payment apps DO use customer funds for loans and other investments; profits from the earnings don’t get passed to user accounts in interest and if the investments go bad users are at risk b/c most accounts are not covered by fdic

5/ Time and time again we see the consequences of people trusting a third party with their assets. It's been a problem since first crypto exchange, and its still a problem today.
Custodians get hacked, robbed, are fraudulent or go insolvent, and at the end of the day its the
3/ Crypto debit cards are magic✨. They give people a way to use internet native currencies in the "real" world. But there is a caveat.
The cards on the market require you to trust a third party to hold your crypto or to not drain your wallet. Others are branded as "self
