I needed a good quality photo and so while daughter - who did photography A Level - has been at home from uni for reading week, we've been out and about taking pics with her camera, making the most of autumn colours. These are the two best ones - left or right though 🤔
Am at the airport having breakfast before boarding a flight to Florence with my daughter for a few days. So exciting. And my cover reveal is at lunchtime today. Can't wait to post when I land 🇮🇹✈️
Am back from Florence. What a trip. Could so easily have done a few more days. Just going through all the pics on my phone and found this view of the Ponte Vecchio from the Uffizi
Time to reveal the title of my book

Have a big birthday tomorrow and will prob be having too much fun to be on Twitter. Been going through old pics - there are not that many from pre phone days. Here's me at eighteen in '91. Remember we had a family lunch and my mum took some pics in the garden. Nice shoulder pads!
This happened for a few hours last night: ✨The Venice Secret made it to no 98 in overall Kindle chart. A huge dream achieved. Thanks so much if you've bought, left ratings/reviews, supported me. Appreciate it all very much 💛
Recently took my daughter shopping when home from university for reading week. I picked this up and put it down again, saying couldn't justify buying yet another pricey notebook but how much I loved the colour. And she sent it to me for Mother's Day. So lovely
Just checked out of hotel in Florence and am going for one last amble before flying home later. Had a lovely dinner out last night in a garden with crumbling old wall and fairy lights and trees in pots and drank this Tuscan rosé
My daughter got her place at university and ✨The Venice Secret is back at no 1 in UK Kindle Historical Italian Fiction chart 🥳. Thanks so much to all who have supported me 💛
Have almost finished the book am reading and need to decide what to go for next. Keep changing my mind. This is physical TBR. Also have loads on Kindle (obvs) and audiobooks
Daughter is home from university for reading week which is so lovely. Wonderful to have her company last night and to hear her stories from past few weeks. Lots of writing to get done this morning so we can go for autumn walk followed by coffee and cake this afternoon
The UK location for my next book is in the Surrey Hills so am on a little research trip this afternoon. Started in Shere (pic) then Gomshall, now Dorking
The copy edits are done, sent late last night and am having a celebratory boiled egg with soldiers, and coffee and a sit down on the sofa. This is going to be a slow day 😴
Thursday throwback to autumn at a very special place with views of the Surrey Hills and part of inspiration for the book am working on - Polesden Lacey 🍁🍂
It was my son's 16th birthday yesterday and made a chocolate orange cake with giant buttons on top. Still a bit left to have with a cup of tea today too
The hotel am staying at in Florence is having some ad hoc anniversary drinks and was just sitting in the garden when handed a complimentary Limoncello spritz. How could I say no...
Saw this tree and thought would make a great photo if there wasn't a car parked in front of it. Ten mins later when I passed it again, the car was driving away. So here it is. Peak autumn 🍁🍂
Just to say thank you so much to all who have supported me this year with ✨The Venice Secret. I really appreciate the likes, RTs, convs had. Wishing you a Happy Christmas ⛄️🎄⛄️🎁
Am not disappearing quite yet as still need to post a pic of my homemade mince pies - making later
My mum died twenty years ago today. The build up to these anniveraries is harder than the actual day. It's a beautiful day out there, and today am going to do lots of nice things, starting with coffee, cake and Kindle out, and lazy afternoon to follow
Today is ✨The Venice Secret's 1st 🎈birthday! Thank you so much to all who have supported me - authors, bloggers, readers who have written reviews, cheered me on and shared my updates. Soon I hope to share the title and cover for my next book, out in June - all very exciting 💛
Some days writing seems so very difficult. Other days, like today, the words flow and you write 1200 words just like that. Getting out and about for research trips has helped provide a bit of inspiration this week, I think
My daughter returned from university for Easter hols last night and it was her birthday on Thurs so made a cake. And there's still some left for a slice with cup of tea later
Five years ago today on a writing retreat in Umbria. Oh I could be there right now, eating breakfast on this terrace - perhaps a brioche from the bakery - then writing, pre-lunch swim, lunch with wine, siesta, more writing until another swim then dinner with more wine. And repeat
Today am heading into London to meet some lovely author friends who cannot wait to see. Hope to do coffee and then an art gallery stop en route and then there will be lunch, with wine
This is me in St Mark's Square on first visit to Venice, age seven. I remember thinking the place was magical. In this photo, am standing in the scene from the painting which is found in the loft in my book, ✨The Venice Secret. Who knew I'd write this book then?
Since having a cat, my day now starts with me giving her breakfast, making self a cup of tea and sitting on sofa with her right next to me, snoozing while I do social media stuff on my phone. Is a nice start to the day 🐾
One of the country houses I drew inspiration from for ✨The Venice Secret was Dyrham Park which has wonderful servants' quarters to see. Plus a book that partly inspired the story, The Remains of the Day was filmed there too
Drinking coffee out of my beautiful new mug this afternoon with a map of the Surrey Hills on the side - where my next book, out in June is partly set (as well as in Tuscany). Currently working on line edits and it's exciting seeing this book get closer to its final version
Today is a significant day in my writing life as have achieved a lifelong dream. BIG book news coming soon & cannot wait to tell you. Thank you so much to all who have supported me with ✨The Venice Secret - you helped me get here 🫶 - still 99p btw
