Within the next six months, we plan to send 5,800 Korean job seekers. Its first batch departed Katunayake Airport for Korea today, and I was there to greet them. We will be sending more than 200 individuals to Korea every week starting this week.

I just spoke with the president to ask whether we could extend the proposed incentives, such as a license to import EV cars for employees who work for an offshore IT/ICT company from Sri Lanka while receiving US dollars as salary, and he responded positively.

I have instructed the officials to set up a new unit called 'Overseas Sri Lankans' under my supervision to service migrant workers and those who were Sri Lankan citizens. Both groups have been neglected by previous governments and they deserve much more than what they get now.

Following a meeting last Wednesday between representatives of Immigration and the Foreign Employment Bureau a special counter has been established at the Immigration Department to speed up the issuance of passports for migrant workers leaving for foreign employment. #remittance
