Does UVA still have that mural of the professor having an affair with a student?

It’s something else to watch the anti-trans moral panic unfolding before our eyes when the evidence that a problem exists is non-existent

I still can't get over how a moral panic driven almost entirely by anecdotes can't seem to find a single anecdote of a teenager medically transitioning without assessment.

I suspect Charlottesville will be an attractive place to move to as climate change worsens: good water supply, limited flood risks, cooler than average southern city, adjacent to mountains, emerging green energy sector, local governments theoretically caring about mitigation.

Heard it again today: UVA having trouble retaining nurses due to the high cost of housing in Charlottesville. Want better medical care for yourself? Advocate for more housing.

I was curious, so I counted all the seating on the Downtown Mall. I probably missed a few, but I counted 1218 seats. About 98% (1193) are private, spread between ~38 cafes & restaurants. 2% (25) are public seating. Please discuss...I think we can do better.

UVA is blocking a local community college student from completing his nursing degree, despite what appears to be a lack of evidence that a No Trespassing Ordered stemming from May 4 is justified.

I’m case you were wondering, as of this morning only 59% of Charlottesville police are confirmed to be vaccinated.

I told a group of UVA students this evening that the fact that they often have to sign leases by October for the following school year is a symptom of our local affordable housing crisis, which gives landlords way too much power, and is not something we should accept as normal.

Thinking more about UVA students coming back. I asked three UVA doctors today if they thought it was safe. Their answers: no, no, & hell no.

Due to limited capacity, UVA is canceling testing events for higher risk communities AND is unable to test all hospitalized patients, BUT is still planning to bring thousands of students to town.

The Virginia State Police were shoving an elderly woman with a cane. When a bystander came to help keep her on her feet, the police snatched them and charged them with “assaulting an officer.” As you can see, there was never any assault. All lies.

mark kavit says he would need hours to outline all of his issues with the current comprehensive plan. he says the community needs to address the issue of "how dense do we want the city to become?"
