UPDATE: The suspect has been located off campus. It appears he has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no longer a threat to campus and the shelter-in-place has been lifted.
UPDATE: After careful consideration and out of respect for the families, we wanted to inform the public and the media that MSU DPPS will not be confirming the names of the five victims in the hospital at this time. They all remain in critical condition.
All campus activities are canceled for 48 hours, including athletics, classes, and all campus-related activities. Please DO NOT come to campus tomorrow.

UPDATE: The suspect description is a short male with a mask, possibly Black. Please continue to shelter in place. We are still receiving multiple calls of an active shooter on campus.
There is another reported shooting at IM East. Police are responding. There are multiple reported injuries. Media staging area is currently being determined.
UPDATE: The suspect is believed to be on foot right now. Community members on and off campus should continue to shelter in place. Police are continuing to respond.

MSU Police hand out pizzas to members of the media who have been covering the events on campus non-stop for almost 24 hours.
An extra pizza was handed out by a reporter to students walking by.

UPDATE: We want to sincerely thank our community for their help. Because of the quick release of the suspect photos through our campus security cameras, a caller’s tip was able to lead officers to the suspect.
MISSING PERSON: 18 year-old Brendan Santo. Last seen on 10-29-21 leaving Yakeley Hall. He is not a student and was visiting friends.

MSU ALERT: A man was reported being seen in downtown East Lansing with a knife. He then walked across Grand River and was seen on campus near Ramp 6. Officers are in the area and working to locate the suspect, but he may have left the area.
UPDATE: The next media briefing will take place tomorrow (2/16) at 10 a.m. at the Henry Center for Executive Development - 3535 Forest Rd., Lansing, MI 48910.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Lot 63 at the Breslin Center is designated for media parking on campus. Any parking lot available to the general public (pay-by-plate) is permitted as well.

MSU Police officers responded to the area outside of Snyder Hall on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred around 12:15 a.m. Officers quickly arrived and learned the victim, a pizza delivery driver, was approached by two males

Last Sunday, 4 of our officers responded to a "ducklings in distress" complaint at IM West. When they arrived, they could hear chirping coming from a storm drain near the loading dock. The officers were able to remove the drain cover and rescue 9 ducklings. Great work, team! 🦆👏🏻
UPDATE: The property return process at Berkey Hall has ended for the day and the remaining property has been turned over to MSU DPPS.

It’s not every day you get to rescue a fawn! This morning, officers responded to a fawn in the roadway. To ensure that the fawn would not be struck by passing vehicles, officers moved the fawn from the roadway. Thankfully, the mother and fawn were reunited a few hours later.
