Thanks for all the messages here. They have no idea what’s going on in the world or that they are being laughed at in many countries. In fact they have little clue about anything at the best of times, but anyone who has a dog knows how important they are just now.
Two years ago today I filmed these two having their breakfast and things took quite a strange turn. Thank you to all of you who have enjoyed them since in print, on stage and above all in so very many videos.
Pitching idea for covering London Marathon on Sunday. Pros: Only camera operator payment required - biscuit in Kipchoge’s back-pocket.
Cons: Inability to clean camera lens and easily distracted.
A year ago today I put out a video of a couple of dogs eating their breakfast. We’ve kept on making the videos and the two main characters have continued to have zero clue about anything, but thanks for all the Olive and Mabel love that has come our way.
A Good New Year to all when it comes and may you approach 2023 with the tolerance of Olive. Or simply be more like Mabel, with her unwavering yet enormously misplaced belief in her abilities.
So the good news is that it is now an actual book and this whole thing is not just one of Olive’s scams. Published a week today and excitement levels are off the charts.
Happy New Year. May we all approach 2022 with the enthusiasm of Mabel when experiencing life and the tolerance of Olive when experiencing the attention of Dexter from next door.
Delighted that I was able to drop maths at 16 - I lost my way when brackets became involved - and it’s a strange idea to compel somebody to study it until they’re 18. A lot of minds simply don’t work that way and are surely better turned to subjects which really engage them.

- I know it can be a day of feeling alone or disconnected. But, to be honest, sometimes loved ones can be a bit annoying on Christmas Day.
First failure on Wordle today. I will be making no further statement on the matter and would hope that my privacy will be respected at this very difficult time.
Signing a few more books today. They weren’t even our books - just any books that were lying around. Chased out of the shop shortly after these photos.
Starting a long run of sport talking now and not going to see much of these two between here and the end of August. Their distress at this news was clear.
Once more, many thanks for the nice comments about ‘Olive, Mabel & Me’. I do feel decidedly awkward about the constant promotion required to sell a book, so have decided to resort instead to threats.
To those who haven’t yet got on board, just be careful out there.
Seeking guidance from
@MrAndrewCotter
about teaching youngsters the offside rule. Plenty of enthusiasm but lack of discipline at the set piece continually letting them down.
Quite a few asking, so for those who missed it - here is an Olympic champion, a man in a hat and, most importantly, two dogs in the
@BBCSport
coverage of the Boat Races today.
Not a sentence I would have imagined writing: Olive and Mabel’s theatre tour begins this Sunday night in Bury St Edmunds. Some tickets still available. Don’t expect great things.
They’re still waiting for their appearance as well. I’ve told them that I’m afraid this is sometimes the way TV works. Anyway, Happy New Year to all and thanks for joining us on our trip this year. See you in 2021...
‘Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November,
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February, which has twelve thousand three hundred and eighty-seven.’
Thank you to everyone who has ordered / enjoyed / tolerated 'Olive, Mabel & Me' so far. In normal times you'd mark publication day with a party, but this is all we've managed.
Labradors. The Morale Officers. Often not sure what they want or exactly why they’re happy. But they know they are happy and want you to share in their happiness if at all possible.
Dear USA & Canada, Delighted to announce we’ve teamed up with
@countrymanpress
to get ‘Olive, Mabel & Me’ there. You can pre-order it here
AND it will be in all dog-loving bookshops. As well as some who might not care for them at all. But they're excited.
I could post a video of the litter on Formby beach this morning, but that's no way to start your day. So here is a couple of miles further down the beach for a more positive outlook.
