100% substance designer for this Quake texture aside from the 64x64 greyscale containing a bunch of 1-bit masks. Upscaled with my newest 45 degree preserving algorithm. Probably gonna paint on top of this later some more but I really like the results as is. 128x128

this is how you UV things when you're a sweatlord. manual pack, pixel perfect (pixel corner snapped UVs), 1:1 texel density across the asset, basically zero stretching, well utilized layout that's easy to read (you bet I packed that by hand.), uniform distance between islands

Relevant trick - if you rotate the top face by half the degrees per segment and connect all the verts to triangulate it evenly as such, the perceived silhouette will be marginally smoother due to the half offset you've just performed. not great if you want rectangular UVs tho

really basic trick but one I see often neglected; if you have bevels, especially ones that don't really affect silhouette greatly, you can step them down in a lot of cases. sometimes you will want to preserve quads (such as for rectangulating UVs) but this is always satisfying

More on this Fallout pistol I posted a couple days ago, included a pic of the bake I used. In hindsight I could have pushed the materials a lot more off the bakes but I wanted to use them more as a starting point for hand-painting for aesthetic reasons ( also impatience :p )

AKS74U for various games, here shown as a replacer for the AK in CSGO back in 2012, pre-workshop! This model was also licensed by Bohemia to use in DayZ standalone so you may have seen it before. This is the level I was at when I broke into the games industry :)

low-spec 3d (lowpoly/pixel art textures) is the best because it's inherently "video games" by association. show someone a playstation model and they can probably intuitively read it as "ah yes, now this is video games" immediately. thanks for coming to my ted talk

did these overwatch training range crates 2 years ago (anyone remember overwatch 1? i remember). it's a basic bitch beveled crate with 64x64 per side (4x 64x64 total) so like what. 28 triangles? also conveniently one convex BSP brush that's on grid if you're into that sorta thing

First one out of the forced perspective skins I did in 2020, this one uses multiple angles and a shallower design so the effect is subtler but also practically doesn't break even side-on. I think it's my favourite as a result even if it's barely there in areas

Making these little skirting pieces for Quake, basically a basic BSP prop! 100% hand painted in Substance Painter with a basic round brush, almost entirely moused as well. You wouldn't see under/behind it but I made those anyway to reuse for other bits around maps!!
