So,
#DavidMiller
has won a landmark case, that says anti-zionist ideas are protected speech in the UK. This is a BIG WIN for those of us who teach on Palestine and Israel but make no mistake the Left should not support his very problematic take on
1/
Zionists and Jews as shady secretive power possessing...this mimics and mirrors far-right take on Jews and we on the Left should be very careful not to side with this. Especially as it misses out the predominant role of
#imperialism
completely 2/
David Miller case may have gotten progress for free speech and the ability to criticise cruel and violent state practices but his framing of the problem is entirely off the mark.
Fixate on Jews and Zionists too much and you miss the entire big picture and end up reproducing a simplistic and racist trope...also...he throws the whole Palestine solidarity movement under the bus in his remarks about his win...

This makes my whole being rage. It's so true. My life at home with two kids 7 and 10 is not conducive to writing with a partner who is a social worker and therapist I have no choice but to be the key childcare worker.
Six weeks into widespread self-quarantine, editors of academic journals have started noticing a trend: Women โ who (ofc) shoulder more family responsibility โ seem to be submitting fewer papers than usual. There is some evidence that men are submitting *more.* (a thread)
The glaring reality that childcare is not valued makes me so angry. The privileged I deal that I could be using this time to think, to develop new ideas when I have to be at home caring for others.
