After debating with myself I've decided to accept my Liverpool DClin offer and withdraw from Leeds - while I would have liked to have done it my body and brain are just not working today and I'd rather my spot goes to someone on the reserve who would want to give it their all♥️
I think a frustrating part of working in MH while also having MH difficulties yourself is feeling like you're part of the problem when people feel they've been let down by services, I promise you most of us are trying our best. We're just humans trying to help other humans ♥️
Sat on this for a few days cause honestly in disbelief and panicking they've not received my attendance confirmation but I've bagged an interview for Sheffield DClin, feeling sick 🤢😅 2024 please be my year I turn 30 in August 🤣
Sat in starbucks getting on with some article writing, ears perked up hearing a lady on the other table telling her friend how she's just started
#lowcarb
and how rubbish no added sugar cereals are as they still spike her blood sugars. It's catching on! 🙌
8 years since I graduated from undergrad, my first DClin application I got 4 straight no's. Reflected and reframed how I wrote my application, I took risks and let myself be vulnerable. It's paid off. If you've received rejections this year I feel you, please keep going.
First ever ClinpsyD application submitted. Got such varied responses to my statements, made a few changes but just pressed submit before I overthought it (my reaction in these situations). Feel a bit sick now though 🤢 time for self care 🤣
Honestly it's bringing me so much happiness to see people getting onto the ClinpsyD their first time applying. Here's hoping it'll be me this time next year 🙏
You really don't get a true feel of a uni's values and ethos until you meet them in person. Thank you Liverpool DClin for making me feel so welcome. Had such a lovely containing panel who I felt truly listened to me. If this year isn't my year, I'll choose you again next time 😊
That's 2/4 done, just Liverpool and Leeds to go...got this little guy on my desk cheering me on. Hope everyone is looking after themselves during this stressful season ♥️
Shout out to those working in mental health who have lived experience themselves, it's ok to admit we still struggle and need time to look after ourselves. It's these struggles that have fueled our passion for helping others 💙
On this day 5 years ago I found out I'd achieved a place at

studying Psychology. Now in a few weeks I'm going back to do my Masters. Feeling excited but nervous! Need to get back into academic mode 📚
Something positive - starting a new job with
@PennineCareNHS
at the end of May🎉. Looking forward to this new chapter working for the NHS and back supporting those with MH needs😊
Thinking on the spot isn't everyone's strength (including myself in this 🙈) wish more psych jobs would consider this to improve accessibility and give everyone the chance to showcase themselves
If anyone would like support applying for AP/RA roles this summer let me know as I'd be happy to help. I have AP experience in adult inpatient and CAMHS community and am currently an RA 😊 particularly those who haven't had a position before or are struggling to get one 🌸
Just a heads up but my role is due to be advertised on Trac soon(ish). I'm an NHS RA working on a trial looking at BA for low mood in specialist CAMHS (BAY). Really lovely supportive team and I got tons of research experience. Manchester based, DM if you want to know more 😊
Found out I got a high Merit in my MSc in Clinical & Health Psychology yesterday 🎉little bit disappointed as it was 2 marks off a distinction, but I know it's still an achievement considering how difficult this year has been 😂 now to decide what to do next 🤔
With 2 weeks to go, we thought it'd be fun to make an 80s style trailer for the PHC Virtual Conference 2020, which will be on YouTube for FREE on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2020 with speakers from around the world!!!
Be there or be square :)

While I didn't apply for King's I massively praise their communication with applicants this year. Definitely should be something more universities consider for future application rounds 👏 we appreciate it
1. Before we confirm completion of the process of notifiying applicants (nearly there). We would like to thank all who applied to us this year and chose us as one of their 4 course centres.
Spoke to my therapist this week about how it's annoying I teach therapeutic skills to people each day but don't put them into practice myself. She responded 'yeah but little Meg didn't know what CBT was' and I just. Trauma response in a nutshell.
2 1/2 years of working in adult secondary care coming to an end. Sad to say bye to some wonderful teams (currently 3 of them 😅) but happy to be joining T&G

as an AP in November. Lots of new challenges but can't wait to bring my experience with me 😊
BAY Trial end of pilot celebration 🎉 a day reflecting on our wins and learning experiences. Amazing how many people are involved in the setup and running of a clinical trial 😳 going to miss my little researcher team ❤️
Been a busy bee on my night shifts making a Psychology self-help resources board for our patients on Arden ☺️ just need some ideas on how to fill the gaps!

Tips on how to get rid of perfectionist traits so you don't turn into an emotional mess after making a mistake or being told you've let someone down (asking for a friend)
Still in shock I've got an assistant psychologist position. Years of self doubt and low self esteem I need to start telling myself that I DO deserve this and I am MORE than capable 🎉 excited to start a role where I'm directly involved in someone's psychological care ❤️

Was talking to one of our student nurses who said that the university is allowed to place you up to 90 mins/2 hours away from place of study. Ridiculous for a 7/half 7 start 😔
Despite feeling unmotivated past week or so my second attempt at the ClinpsyD application is pretty much written 😅 don't suppose any trainees/qualifieds would be happy to roast/give me some constructive feedback? 🙈
Been putting it off so for long but had my first driving lesson today in about 8 years. Was SO nervous beforehand (hope that goes) but it was actually really fun 😅 can't wait to no longer have to rely on public transport 🙌
Pretty cool I've gone from a kid with social anxiety in school to be told I'm going to be working with such kids in my service, is it weird I'm kinda excited? 😅
@Shannon_Psych
Comment from a trainee I know when talking about a certain course 'as long as you don't struggle with burnout or value your own wellbeing you'll be fine' 🙄 The journey to get on is bad enough! Makes you think if it's even worth it 🤷
Been a busy bee this week putting together a low intensity resources pack that staff can use with patients to help them learn new coping skills ☺️ work in progress and I'm sure it'll be added to over time!
It's a scam how companies can get away with selling 'low carb bread' by just making the slice of bread smaller then labelling it as 'low carb.' Why not just take a normal slice of bread and cut it in half?
It's nice when you can get to a point with your mental health that you can see a job rejection as a push to apply for bigger and better things (assistant psych here I come 😅🤞) rather than let it knock your self esteem and confidence

Damn I can't believe I missed this! I'm so happy with the amount of growing research for keto & mental health. I've struggled with anxiety for many years and sugar was a big coping mechanism, switching to keto definitely played a role in my recovery
Intense but fascinating first day on
@storm_cic
training, always enjoy discussing with others working in different roles/settings what their experience has been like. Also first time being videoed in a role play and wasn't actually too bad 😅

What an amazing lady, thank you so much to Zoe Lodrick for this training. Loved the storytelling mode of delivery to illustrate the brain's response to trauma. I'll remember this next time I buy a bottle of Evian (😉) ♥️
So I've been wanting to start my own blog for a while now to share my knowledge and perspectives on all things mental health and Clinical Psychology. Just launched it last night, go follow

As I've gotten older I've found it more difficult to just sit and read (something I loved doing as a child) as i just find it so hard to concentrate 🙃 found out Spotify premium members now have 15 hrs free audiobook listening a month and omg this is so much easier 😁
