Some myths to dispel on Panjshir/Resistance 1. The resistance is not the “Northern Alliance”. This term was applied by the west to an alliance created by different commanders in the north-east and north-west of Afghanistan in the 90s. The resistance today is different.

For those who asked what to read on Afghanistan (in English). I’d recommend “Afghan Modern: The History of a Global Nation” by @RobertCrews22 as a starting point, he is a historian with a focus on Afghanistan from Stanford and fighting on the side of the Afghan people.

Just spoke with a cousin. They’re killing the families of anyone who is in the resistance in Panjshir. Thus far more than 50 members of families, men, women, and children have been killed. They’re showing brute force to silence the resistance.

Humanitarian organisations can send humanitarian assistance to Panjshir via helicopters. Afghanistan’s Air Force did not allow the Taliban to capture their helicopters, they flew to Uzbekistan. They can help in bringing supplies to Afghanistan from there. This is an option.

Fears from those in Afghanistan who are saying that the Taliban are eagerly waiting for all departure of foreign forces to shut down all internet and “show their true colors” by August 31. This is why they did not harm Independence Day protestors. This is extremely concerning.
