A little less then an hour ride form DC is Kent Island where you can hit Stevensville Crab Shack(a no frills spot with delicious food) + Matapeake Park and it's adjoining dog beach. Highly recommended. Thanks for tip @LauraHayesDC

In my 11 years of living and working in the DMV, one truth I've learned is that we absolutely don't need out of town folks to tell us where the good food is. Cooks in our region can hold their own against any in the country, without a doubt. Plenty of locals know where to look!

This is your annual reminder that 2 Amyโ€™s is really one of the best restaurants in Washington DC. Especially for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday when itโ€™s pretty quiet. Rabbit Terrine, Cantabrian Anchivies and Polpette di Bolito. So good!

Why take the time to pound the cutlets so thin for our chicken parm? 1) texture, it can be cut easily with just a fork! 2) wow factor when it hits the table, fills up a plate. 3) chicken parm is a vehicle for sauce and cheese, the more surface area, the more of the good stuff !

I spent some time today looking through a really cool collection of old menus @dchistory Library. All the menus are from DC restaurants and most are from the 40's/50's/60's. For someone who has such an infinity for classic restaurants, this was a lot of fun.

Alla Gricia, probably the least well known of the classic 4 Roman pasta dishes. Also my fave. This version has both crispy guanciale and pancetta, lots of black pepper and grana padano(i know, pecorino but you got what you got sometimes ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ). Gotta love the classics!

This is the 1st pasta I put on a plate for Carusoโ€™s. In Aug 2020 we needed a ๐Ÿ“ธ to get the CG social started even though the opening felt so unrealistic given everything that was happening. Making this plates was definitely a bright spot. Glad this memory popped up in photos.

So many new few French spots in DC these days but don't forget about @ChezBillySud consistently putting out excellent food and giving gracious hospitality. Bar a Vin is a special place. Very glad i chose here to bring my French food loving dad last night 10/10

People tell me all that time that the best way to cook a thick steak is reverse searโ€ฆmaybe theyโ€™re right. But there is still something special about doing it the old fashion way. Heavy season, very hard sear then turn the grill to low and let it come up the rest of the way!

Salads do not need to be boring!! This has cabbage tossed with Costco rotisserie chicken, feta, sliced baby peppers, shallots, lemon, RW vinegar, good EVOO, honey, Old Bay hot sauce, sambal, a small spoon of peanut butter to pull the dressing together, apple and chopped peanuts!
