I can't believe I finally get to say this. But, now that the virtual "ink" is drying…
My book with Oxford Univ. Press "Anti-Scientific Americans" is scheduled for release in Fall '24 (exact date TBD)!
This project means so much to me & I can't wait to share it with you.
My co-authors and I literally put the number at 25-30% back in Summer 2020. Several times! We worked around the clock to tell anyone who would listen.
This isn't me saying: "we told you so!!"
It's: "please, please consult social science when making health policy decisions."
Friends -- I'm so thrilled and humbled to say that I'll be joining
@BUSPH
next Fall as an asst. professor in the Dept. of Health Law, Policy, & Management.
I'm so thankful for the time I spent in Tulsa & at OSU, and truly fortunate to return home to Boston.
My new research at
@NatureClimate
shows that scientific interest in young adulthood is associated with increased trust in climate scientists decades later in adulthood, irrespective of political ideology. Free to read here! 👇
This semester, I've had students refer to "polls" as: "pools," "poles," and (my personal favorite) "Pauls." I'm used to it.
But *nothing* in my pedagogical training prepared me for students referring to respondents sampled via random digit dial as... "RANDOS." 😂😬

Wild peer review experience. Just had an R&R rejected, after...

2. Journal overruled
3. Appealed original decision
4. Sent back out for three new reviews

I got 20 peer-review requests in October (~1 per work day). I accepted 4 (20%).
It's getting to the point where I spend ~1hr per month just *declining* requests, to suggest alternate reviewers.
Is this normal? If not, what can I/we do to help fix this?

Vaccines can't end the pandemic if they sit in freezers. And they can't end the pandemic if people choose not to take them.
That's why studying vaccine uptake is, in my view, an inherently political question.
Just felt the need to say that.
Pretty surreal moment today, finding out that a piece I published in grad school will be included as an annotated "research report example" in the newest version of the very same research design textbook I used as a college student.
