I’m still not over my visit to College Street. Shopkeepers here don’t just sell books, they know books. They ask you which book/author you’re looking for and pull up entire back lists. They’re old hands at this, and I love the speed & passion they work with.

Zomato delivery guy came to deliver chai. He asked me if I had a poly bag to spare as his phone was getting wet. I didn’t have a poly bag so gave him an unused ziplock bag instead. You should’ve seen his face light up. I live for moments like these.

My Bengali cook who has been working with us for the past ten years has invited us to her village in Bengal to stay in their new house she and her husband have had constructed and has said they will arrange for us to visit the Sunderbans. Such a sweet gesture! I’m very touched.

As much as I’ve enjoyed reading books by Mark Tully, William Dalrymple, and Patrick French, I’ve come to a point where I’m tired of reading books on India written by white men. It’ll be so much more refreshing to read books on India written by Indian women.

Each time someone asks me how I lost weight I tell them I do yoga and also consulted a dietician. The first question I'm asked is, what diet, Keto or Paleo? I'm like I ate moderate portions of healthy ghar ka khana and gave up sugar. They look at me like I'm speaking Greek.

Smell can bring back some very precious memories. Which is why I still use Boroline religiously everyday because it brings back memories of my father who swore by it. Each time I get a whiff of Boroline on my palms I instantly feel comforted and relaxed.

I’ve been married for eleven years, and not once in all these years has my mother asked me when I’m going to have a baby. Which is a big deal considering I’m an only child, and her only way to become a grandmother is by me having a baby. And for that I am grateful.

I read this book for the first time when I was 18 or 19. I was amazed at how the book tugged at my heart, and I remember devouring it in big, hungry bites. I return back to this book today seeking the comfort it offered me as a teenager. @cdivakaruni
