Hearing Lupul got injured and will miss the Olympics while answering the phone call from Hockey Canada to inform him he made the team. Tough break for him.
I’ve been a Leafs fan for about 29 years of the 35 I’ve been alive and I can tell everyone in certainty that this group doesn’t have it and am anticipating the day this group gets broken up and the next rebuild begins. Hopefully someone gets it right next time.

It’s absolutely ludicrous what this Hawks team can get away with. Between virtually not getting punished at all for covering up the Kyle Beech thing and now this. Send that franchise into the sun.

So let me get this straight. Kyle Dubas gave this guy a 4 year, $13.6 million ($3.4 mil AAV) deal then traded him for spare parts for cap relief, then re-signed him almost immediately after taking over a new team and is now releasing him. Dubas is terrible.
@Avalanche
@JeffMarek
That’s terrible news for the Avs and him.
Having said that I’d take him on one good leg over any of the Leafs core 4 in the playoffs.
@SportsnetSpec
The difference is Edmonton, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver Hamilton and Regina are all small market. Toronto has the 4th largest population North America lol
It’s not even 12 hours after the Leafs getting eliminated in embarrassing fashion for the 7th straight year and I’m already seeing a lot of “run it back” takes.
Why does this fan base have such a loser mentality that they worship a GM and a bad core?

@PierreVLeBrun
Toronto not willing to trade their 1st or any of their top tier prospects because they know how flawed this team is and that they don’t have a very good chance of making it out of the 1st round this year.
@FriedgeHNIC
Lol leafs are gonna get pushed around so much this year. No one in their line up to protect their stars, so many liberties will be taken on Matthews. First round exit coming again this year.
@TSN_Sports
Wouldn’t call it an upset. A team showed up and played a solid hockey game on one side and on the other side a bunch of individuals showed up and decided to be hot dogs all game. Pathetic, should have tried some more Michigans.
@joshbeleaf
Bruins most likely will be there right in the thick of it. Still have big names in Pastrnak, Marchand and McAvoy. They’re a very structured team and guys will step up to fill the void and/or trades will be made. Bruins are still a threat in the Atlantic.
@tmlfaninvan
This is a garbage take. The Leafs get “goalie’d” so often because they’re a perimeter team. They don’t go to the hard areas of the ice to get more 2nd and 3rd chances.
@reporterchris
Send this guy to Siberia and make him give back some of the millions he stole from the team. He shouldn’t be making a penny over $8 million on this contract; another botched contract negotiation by Dubas.
@WatchMyReview
But he’s not good at moving the puck, he’s terrible at making decisions under pressure. A strong forecheck gets him off his game very easily which is pretty much every team in the playoffs. He looked terrible against Boston.
@FrankNad
@ryanwhitney6
The minute this Habs team loses this series and the league goes back to normal the Habs aren’t a playoff team next season. Just saying.
