Farewell to Racing Post Sport legend Kevin Pullein who has penned his last column for us in tomorrow’s paper. A mentor, colleague, friend and a true expert in his field. Lovely tribute from
@brucemillington
below & the SJA also did a nice piece with Kevin
Absolutely loved working (if you can call it that) on
@RacingPostSport
for last 20 years or so. Amazing people on the desk, hopefully we get to do it all again one day soon.
Our 80-page guide to the new football season is out tomorrow. Top six tiers of England all covered, four Scottish divisions, NI Premiership, Europe’s big four leagues, World Cup in focus, odds comparison tables, plenty of stats, data-driven deep dives and other stuff.
Kevin also received my favourite ever piece of hate mail. Disciplined as, Kevin finished an article with recommendation: No bet. A guy wrote in, with the article cut out and said if he wanted someone to tell him not to bet he’d speak to his wife.
I’m not anti-Postecoglou as such but the team was knocked out of the League Cup in August and the FA Cup in January. We’ve had one league clean sheet since Christmas and it was the manager who has continually said the top four wasn’t important. But yeah fans fault!
I’ll be jumping on board Trans Europe Express for the last time tonight (from 10pm on
@talkSPORT
). Had great fun and as it’s my final show been put in charge of the songs which is certain to make it the worst one since we started in 2016.
@dannykellywords
back on music next week.
Another great effort by
@RacingPostSport
team to get this 72-page Euros guide done. It will be in Monday’s newspaper and there will be a PDF available to buy at some stage tomorrow.
Big brain
@marklangdon
doing his last show with the Trans Europe Express tonight, so only right and proper that he gets a goodbye present.
@dannykellywords
and myself also in the caboose this evening, on
@talkSPORT
from now until 1:00am!
Guide to the new football season in tomorrow’s Racing Post. 80 pages packed full of insight and stats. Premier League down to National League North/South. Four Scottish divisions, top four Euro leagues, NI Premiership and even a bit of Saudi.
Man City pushed for VAR then Guardiola has a dig when the ifab laws are applied correctly. This is the football he wanted and given how brilliant City are it’ll probably work out for them in the long run. But given his pro-VAR feelings he has come across as bit of a twat tonight.
Lampard may do well at Chelsea but idea the football at Derby was particularly special is just wrong. Very average. However, doesn’t stop his mates pushing the myth.
Big Kick-Off in Monday’s Racing Post. Previews of the Premier League right down to the 7th tier in English football. Four Scottish divs, top four European leagues & women’s Super League. Interviews with Pat Nevin, Mark Warburton, Kenny Jackett and John Dempster
Will always be grateful to
@brucemillington
for giving me a chance on the sports desk best part of 20 years ago and then offering me support with work and also tough times outside the office. Enjoy your final day as RP editor and then the time off.
What a signing Alderweireld was for Spurs. Rarely had a bad game and can only remember him letting the team down once when he played 89 minutes here without getting booked.
Won’t look to change too much too soon. A different approach to the current continental options/fruit bowl for the office Wednesday Breakfast Club and Patrick Kluivert now on Christmas party duty. Many thanks to Bruce for his continued support which started when I joined at 17!
Not been able to say this for a while -
@RacingPostSport
Postcast returns on Friday. Any questions? ⚽️😀Don’t think it’s going to be in video format which is just as well given the state of the barnet 💇♂️
We’ve got the views of two people in this photo on Spurs, Pochettino and Mourinho.
Me here
Chris Waddle will be online at 5pm. Still working on Hoddle to bring the band back together
The
@RacingPostSport
guide to the new football season is out next Monday July 29. Also vast amount of video filmed today to be released on social channels next week. Podcasts resume July 31, our email tip sheet back on Aug 1 and Aug 2 sees the weekly Assist supplement return ⚽️
Went to see Luton last week and (no spoilers) they were a joy to watch*
Look at their bid for successive promotions here**
*It was only Plymouth they beat
**Still haven't fully forgiven them for failing to win L2

Getting a lot of requests for this - our guide to the new domestic season will be in the Racing Post on Wednesday August 1. Premier League, EFL, 3 tiers of non-League, 4 Scottish leagues, Northern Ireland and the big 4 European divisions plus a look at the new Nations League
@maxrushden
Hi Max
@RacingPostSport
corners man Kevin Pullein only has data going back to 97-98 but most Premier League corners 26 and has happened three times - Villa v Pompey (2006), Soton v Bradford (2000) and Liverpool v Bolton (98). The lowest 0 Wigan v Chelsea (2010).
Shamrock Rovers 1-1 Dundalk - Wow! Jordan Flores scores a goal of the season contender to level things at Tallaght. You'll be watching this goal for years to come.

🚨 STEVE PALMER LANDS THE DOUBLE 🚨
✅ Nicolai Højgaard (25-1) - DP World Tour Championship
✅ Ludvig Åberg (14-1) - The RSM Classic
😍 THE DOUBLE PAID 389/1 😍
And so, because of today's
@AerLingus
dog's dinner, I will miss a radio show for the first time (bar actual hospitalisation!) in TWENTY FIVE YEARS. I am heartbroken. These things matter. Good luck
@lukeaaronmoore
Tonight has been mainly spent looking at the World Cup Golden Ball betting. Those wearing Adidas boots seem to have a much better recent record than their Nike counterparts in the Golden Ball award sponsored by Adidas...

Thanks to

and
@andybrassell
for making it more like a social occasion rather than work and to all the other TEE regular pundits for their incredible knowledge, the help of those behind the glass at TalkSPORT and the listeners who get involved every Sunday
Also we are releasing a video season preview which will be on our Racing Post YouTube channel at 6pm tonight.
@brucemillington
presenting with myself, James Milton and
@nickgoff79
which was a fun 90 minutes we recorded on Thursday.
Thanks for supporting it every year and to small
@RacingPostSport
team that get 72 pages done. Cruised home with the last page sent to printers a cosy five minutes before today’s deadline. Can also recommend
@MarkOHaire
‘s season previews and
@NTT20Pod
will be as great as ever👍
If you’re at
#ICELondon2019
will be doing a Champions League preview at 5pm today at the Racing Post stand. If like
@nickgoff79
you absolutely love visiting ICE but unfortunately can’t make it fit into your schedule this year we will get it published in our YouTube channel ASAP.
I like this even more now I don’t do the 1-20 or 1-24 and wake up to your twitter handle invariably being posted on an angry fans forum. Something for the writers to enjoy when this hits the shops tomorrow 😀
In the 1990/91 season, Paul Gascoigne was Spurs’ joint top scorer with an incredible 19 goals in all comps.
Here are all of them, in order, crammed into 140 secs.
In the form of his life and taking games by the scruff of the neck, Gazza was simply unplayable back then.

Special thanks to the two Patrick’s producer
@Patrickdangelo8
and Patrick Kluivert for keeping me in content. Still love the show and now I can join the millions in demanding the return of a podcast 😉
