Drivers expect parking everywhere they go, if they can't park legally, it's socially accepted to park dangerously/selfishly. Cars are a geometrical problem. We keep buying more & making them bigger & are cities/town can't fit them in.

The comments in this are a bin fire & I have to do actual work today (which I'm furious about) but I've joined the @nationaltrust this morning. It might only counter one racist person but there's more of us then there is of them. It's £6 a month if you can afford it...

Many of the places we care for have direct or indirect links to slavery, including objects made from materials obtained by forced labour. Today, as we mark the @UNESCO Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, we take a closer look at these materials.

Public transport investment is the centrepiece of my plan to get our region moving and connect left-behind communities. However we must also improve our road network, with this scheme in Coventry tackling bottlenecks and reducing pollution & congestion.

In the 9 years since I graduated the University of Birmingham, Manchester have banged out 21km of Tram Lines... ...Birmingham has taken us from Snowhill to the Libary, just under 1.5km & now we're canning more. Embarrassing...

One day all the streets around Birmingham New Street Train Station will be closed to traffic & open to People and we'll question why we let this get knocked down & beg for more spaces like it...

An announcement about The Crown. We’ve been working hard to secure a future for The Crown and save the iconic heritage asset from commercial redevelopment. However, we’re disappointed to share that we are unable to progress. Read our full statement 👉🏼

Birmingham has been my home for over 5 years now, both in heart & mind. I've made irreplaceable friends, countless wonderful memories & watched the city achieve many incredible things. That doesn't change just because a bunch of nasty Tories turn up... #BirminghamIsBeautiful

It's day 3 of #BridgeAZ & we're covering the wonderful world of Cantilevers. At there simplest, a way to support weight at a distance. They can be used in Bridges to span greater distances then perhaps a simple beam or slab might. Examples include the wonderful Forth Rail Bridge.

Lunchtime sketch: Beautiful (& structurally interesting) Renfrew Municipal Airport in Glasgow (unfortunately demolished now) but some cracking elements in here & elegant use of concrete. Thanks to @MrTimDunn for floating this into my feed (& the photos!)

Low risk, low hazard E-scooters & modified e-bikes get direct enforcement. Dangerous drivers get the same (ineffective) "Please drive nicely" messages. Hasn't worked for the last few decades, won't work now.

I'm not giving 27 pages my time but I thought I'd peruse the summary/executive summary. Very poor indeed... Anyone talking about BCR or "The Taxpayer" should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

HS2 is Britain's greatest infrastructure mistake in 50 years. My report for Policy Exchange explains how we can stop it eating the rest of the public transport budget.

@JayHulmePoet I like something a little deeper/heavier but had a lot of success with Ticket to Ride and King of Tokyo with friends and family recently but I also learnt about Love Letter (lots of version) recently and really enjoyed it.
