Armenia deserves a strong, robust and intelligent opposition that can meaningfully engage with the ruling party on contentious policy issues. That is the marker of a true democracy. The opposition we have now is none of those things. The Armenian people deserve better.

Azerbaijan may have oil, but Armenia has democracy. As long as democracy remains a factor of Armenia’s political landscape, that diplomatic leverage exists. Without it, there would only be Russia—and it is more than clear at this point that Russian interests undermine Armenia’s.

All we asked for was respect in our time of grief — a small request that the event be canceled due to the collective mourning of 1,000 Armenian students at USC. Those 30 measly seats were worth more to @USCAnnenberg than our suffering? If local media would like details DM me.

This is rich. A foreign socialist movement backs an anti-democratic opposition that openly associates with corrupt billionaire-oligarchs in a post-Soviet country. Can’t make this stuff up. Hypocrisy and “didn’t do my research” at its finest.

For weeks Armenian citizens have been calling for the resignation of the PM of Armenia. The citizens’ call to action stems from the foreign policy of the Armenian government, in particular the attitude regarding the Artsakh conflict. Full statement➡️

Just to make sure everyone’s on the same page, Armenia and Artsakh are countries worth fighting for. That’s the only reason they exist today. Because they’re worth the trouble.

I wonder how much the Azerbaijani “eco activists” currently creating a massive humanitarian catastrophe for the 120,000 peaceful civilians in Nagorno Karabakh, including 30,000 children, are being paid for their “environmental activism.”

There is no room for selectivity in human rights. You’re as complicit as every last one of them and a disgrace to the human rights community. The least you could do is not say anything when the issue is so sensitive & fresh. Tone deaf, shameful…spoken from a place of privilege.

There is no excuse for war crime, no matter who commits it. All war crimes of both sides need to be brought to justice. Azerbaijani civil society demanded and several criminal cases were launched, several people arrested. No sign of such demand from Armenian civil society. 1/3

“I can count on my fingers how many times the child has eaten fruit in the last 200 days.” As Azerbaijan’s blockade enters its 6th month, fears of shortages in essential childcare products haunt Nagorno-Karabakh’s mothers. My latest for @CivilNetTV :

@NasimiAghayev Interesting point, considering Stalin is basically Azerbaijan's founding father. You can't rewrite history one misleading tweet at a time -- shoving propaganda down your people's throats won't change history, it'll just make you impossible to have a conversation with.

The EU will stop buying Russian gas to save Ukraine but will keep directly funding the ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Karabakh to get (an insignificant percentage of) their oil. We’re supposed to take a hint that Armenian lives have less value, I guess.

@business @tencbanchka She also called the events “illegal” and an “invasion,” but you seem reluctant to highlight that. At this point that’s not neutrality, it’s deliberate selective bias.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has accepted an Armenian POW torture complaint to the UN Committee Against Torture. This means Azerbaijan is required to respond to the complaint, or will face monetary damages. Thanks to the work of @CFTJustice .

Since the opposition has resorted to using our martyrs of the 44 Day War for emotional manipulation and vilification of the police, here’s a reminder that at least 3,000 police officers were sent to fight in that war. Think of that before you assault them with stones.

The timing of Pelosi’s trip, one month after her bold statement visit to Taiwan, makes this one of the most significant shows of support the U.S. could give Armenia right now. Putin is squirming in his seat right now. He was warned. Armenia is no colony.

I don’t recall the CSTO sending a fact-finding mission to Kazakhstan before swiftly intervening in domestic matters under blatantly false pretenses, Russian troops firing on Kazakh citizens. But of course, that was in service of Russia—the only member whose interests it serves.

The CSTO will respond to Armenia’s request for aid with a fact-finding mission and a working group, Ria reports. The mission will ‘assess the situation in the conflict zone’ and ‘develop proposals for de-escalating tensions’. 🔴 More:

Imagine having an Armenian last name and still using your platform to undermine the already-precarious existence of Armenians in Karabakh. The least you can do is not voice your opinions if you have no stake in this. Also, most Armenians use Artsakh/NK/Karabkh interchangeably.

In related news, on 27 June, Pashinyan held another live-streamed press conference, this time more controversial given that some media boycotted the event because it was not in person. Nevertheless, its occurrence was relevant in the context of Karabakh and Azerbaijan relations.

Major towns deep within #Armenia ’s sovereignty are currently under attack. Civilians’ lives are being uprooted in an undisputed, non-conflict zone by a neighboring post-Soviet dictatorship. This is a pivotal moment for the international community. How it acts now is critical.

Just for perspective, #Europe has had months to prepare for a cold winter amidst cisis and the world is still terrified. #NagornoKarabakh ’s gas supply is cut in one day, schools closed and surgeries cancelled, and the world doesn’t bat an eye. #LachinCorridor #Azerbaijan #Artsakh
