I have sad news to report. Curtis Flowers’ mother, Lola, died this morning. Lola Flowers was a remarkable woman & will be missed by many, many people. She never gave up hope that her son Curtis would be released. Our thoughts are with the Flowers family.

I’ve seen a lot of tweets by people asking the president to pardon Curtis Flowers. The president can only pardon federal crimes. Curtis’ case involves state, not federal, crimes, which means that it would be the governor of Mississippi who would have the power to pardon him.
