This morning my baby boy went home - back to work tomorrow. He has been looking after me for a month. That meant getting up in the night. It meant helping me shower. He’s done cooking, housework, washing, shopping. I could not be more proud or more grateful. He’s a good man.

I find a new reason to be humbled each day. My son in law is installing a grab rail in my shower so I feel secure when I get home. His brother (carpenter) is re-screwing the handrail on my stairs and installing one on the other side as well. Fine considerate young men.

I helped a woman in her 80’s with a trolley and a walking stick onto and off a moving ramp at Westfield. I had a toddler and a stroller and heaps of bags of my own. But I could not walk past her in obvious distress - although I saw a coupe of dozen able bodied people do so?
