It's cold at 5 a.m in Gatina. But the table on which Aggrey cooks chapati is hot as the early birds like it. Here's here every day from 5 am until 9 pm, every day. No breaks. He needs the money as much as his clients need the fried flat bread he cooks.
Someone asked me to do a 'Day In The Life' thread of someone who lives in Murang'a, and I thought it would be nice to show what life is like for me since I moved to County 21 ⛰️☕🤠🐮🐄🥛💃🏾🕺🏾

Headed to Kakamega for a KPL match with my favourite team in the world, Nairobi City Stars. I'm very excited that they let me tag along 💪🏾😎 we left Nairobi at 6 AM and we should be done with the road trip by 1 PM. For Kenyan football, I'll spend my last coin and do my best 🇰🇪⚽
That's why I love living here. It's clean, it's scenic and there is no stress. Where's your home and when was the last time you were there? It might just be the spark you need to make your life better and add more meaning.

The Nairobi City Mortuary is as quiet as you'd expect it to be. Although I'd use the word noiseless than quiet, because it takes effort to be quiet, and here, the bodies can't be loud even if they wanted to. It also smells like you'd expect it to. Like death..
Last week, my friends and I boarded a bus along River Road, and disappeared into the Nairobi darkness. Fourteen hours later, we arrived in Jinja, Uganda. 👇🏾
Nishai kua na MILF flani alikua a slightly toned down version of this. Alikua anaitisha kuitisha. Ikabidi nimshow nimeget works Nakuru ndio nisikufie kazini 😳 you really can't outfuck a woman, ata ukue nani

Inflation is at record levels in 🇰🇪, and people like him keep the ghetto fed. With fifty bob you can have five chapatis that you can add bean stew & eat. A nutritionally unbalanced meal, but a meal. Out here, we don't eat for our health, we eat so that we don't die from hunger.

In November, it'll be two years since I moved here. It's the typical sleepy little town, no supermarket, one chemist that never has an inhaler when you need one, too many motorbikes and not enough pretty girls my age. A year plus in Murang'a has taught me how to split firewood..

My grandma, my mum's mum, (my other grandma is her sister) is buried here. She died last year. She is mainly why I moved to the farm. I get to see her grave everyday. She reminds me to live life fully and tomorrow isn't guaranteed. She was the person I loved most in the world.

Football 😍😍⚽ I love football with all my heart. So it makes me happy to take a break and go to the pitch at 5 p.m for a game with my guys. It's a two minute walk, and it's free. Accessible fields should be an obligation for cities. It reduces stress and builds a united society

I have breakfast about 10 am, as I sleep very late. Usually I have tea (there's always tea in Murang'a) + bananas/sweet potatoes/last night's food. Sometimes when I visit my mum's bakey in Nairobi, she has stuff for us 👩🏾🍳😋 like when I came back the other day

Dinner is at 7:30, and we eat as we talk with my grandma. She's funny, a really selfless person and very good with planning. She has taught me to stop wasting money on vanities. I boil water for tea & my shower as we speak, until it's ready and I go for a bath

After the game, we walk to 'Kambí' or the local shopping centre for banter, and soup, and in my case, a 'SamoCha' a chapati wrapped around a potato-filled samosa. It's tastier than it looks btw 😉😋🤣 and it's my opportunity to catch a break from work and home 🧘🏾♂️

We go for games around Kangema. We pool our small monies and go for matches against other teams 😎. Our best player is called Bruce (red socks), he has the technical & physical ability to play in the NSL even, but Kenyan football management is 🚮 and they keep wasting such talent
Nimekua na some good days this year, but this is easily the best day of my life this year. Nakula lunch na Juliani na Eric Wainaina, two artistes I respect wholeheartedly. Yaani kijana wa Kawangware ako UN na sio kwa akili zangu ila ni baraka tu. Keep going, never stop.
My boy amekua akiwork so hard and now ako kwa starting lineup ya team ya KPL. Even in a broken country like ours, hard work and consistency pays, cause last year alikua anacheza for no pay uko grassroots na sai he's doing well. Sio kila saa Ben Carson, Kenyan stories are strong

Before I go for the most exciting part of my day, football, I fetch water from the well. Murang'a provides water to Nairobi but there are places people trek for water, we are lucky to have piped water from a tank my uncle built for the homestead. Not everyone is as lucky though

We are so robbed of love as black people that most of us only view proclamations/acts of love as sexual or once-a-year things. I hope the next generation has it different for them, because we need to love and be loved
One of the most interesting things about
@wangoalfred
is how unashamedly different he is; he's a left-handed, mountain-climbing, talented artist who mane of hair is almost as big as his talent..and he's very talented.
Mike Tyson's mental transformation isn't talked about enough. As a black man, unaeza learn so much from him; grew up poor, foster home, adoptive father died just when he was making it, became one of the world's famous/wealthy boxers, lost it all and then reinvented 🧠. Legend 🐐

Building discipline is painful as hell. Kwanza kama uko true to yourself, but the taste of discipline is addictive once you let the ugly part of pain consume you.
Nimesupport Harambee Starlets kutoka kitambo, imekua my team for five years. Kitu ilikua imenileta sana is cause my sister Corazon, is playing for the team and plus napenda kusupport girl child. Napenda football, and I feel nice when nakuja grao and ladies are going out there..
