@harriepw Interview at Vogue and the 'holding pen' for interviewees was in a room panelled in v nice mahogany-type wood. When I was called for my interview for the life of me could not find the door. Was all the same wood. No handle. I pushed on 5 walls until I got out. No one laughed.

My nearly 10 years of editorial experience now equate to around £7k with this as an entry-level salary. I am so happy for new starters, but I am so demoralised, too. How can companies not see that they should be raising salaries across the board?

@GraziaUK I thought this was a click bait headline...but no. Ugh... Grazia, why focus on a clown who earns £40k, lives at home and can't save (?!) when you could write an interesting take on someone actually struggling- and not just obviously living outside their means?

Here we go again. Seeing lots of people criticising this wage. And I agree: it’s not good! But I’m currently 4 levels of seniority up from an entry level job, on around £33k. Publishing salaries need to go up across the board or I’ll end up earning less than an entry level role

@GraceSpelman During a (drunken) game of Articulate, my friend was trying to describe a toucan and somehow thought 'dick owl' was a good description- I think she was going for the nose shape, but who knows. She kept screaming it in my face. I nearly wet myself.

@cbcreative @claremackint0sh They all sat down for their tasty Christmas feast. There were potatoes and roast parsnips and (to the chagrin of the young ones) sprouts. No meat, though. Not this year. Just been to the launch for this and hands down, it was the best book launch I’ve ever been to. Full of the best people. Celebrating the best book. Also I am very drunk. Buy it!

@cbcreative @AlexHayBooks #WriteCBC His life's work fluttered through the burning Berlin sky like paper snow. Across the darkened courtyard, a fire raged, fueled by his magnum opus: it would remain classified forever. He would disappear, too, he knew, though not into smoke and ash. For Argentina awaited

A month ago I started a new WIP and in 4 weeks I've written 15,609 words. Let's get to 25,000 by the middle of March (I feel like I need Twitter for accountability so expect a monthly word count check in!) #amwriting

@cbcreative @Jenna_221b #writecbc Will looked around frantically, trying to think of something, anything. He suddenly thought of the scariest thing possible. ‘A bear!’ Sure enough, a bear appeared by the table, pulling cables and throwing laptops, and angrily pursued the shadow figures... stage left.

With a flourish, I just tried to get through work security with a sanitary pad and not my work pass. It’s been a long week.

Managed to finish a first draft of a full book summary today. Which is a small thing but still a thing I am proud of #amwriting

@cbcreative @StephT2000 #writecbc A dark crust encircled the Earth like a scorched hulahoop. Nothing remained except the animals who could adapt: geckos with mirror scales, lemmings buried deep underground. What was left of human civilization had moved to the sky – floating arks watching a burning world

I did it! 25,000 words with a beginning, a middle and an end 🥳 it is 100% trash but that wasn't the point. The point was to get a first draft finished and I did. I'll wait a few days to start editing though... 😴 #amwriting @NaNoWriMo

A writing milestone reached today: I have passed 40,000 words on the WIP. Yes, only 15,000 of those are words I'm actually happy with. But it's progress. And maybe it means I'm over the hump?! #amwriting

@cbcreative @HeatherDarwent #WriteCBC 72 miners started the morning shift. 6 came out alive. With soot and blood-smeared hands, Ed shouted obscenities at the sky, circling. He howled and shook and thrashed. Stronger men tried to hold him, but his grief spilled out and pooled at their feet: furious and black
