Simon Benoit had 2 big time hits at his own blue line in the final 4 mins of the game. One was on McAvoy and both times he stopped the play dead and the Leafs got possession soon after. That’s how you want your D-men to play in the playoffs.

Max Domi played 18+ mins last night and was amazing. He drove his line and his passing skills are among the best in the league imo. Maybe this player needs more than 10 mins to get in the game, eh Keefe? And maybe 34 & 16 don’t need 25?

I can’t believe Keefe watched what Bertuzzi did on the PP last ssn - down the stretch and in the playoffs for BOS - and hasn’t given him a single second on PP 1. Just 20 seconds at the end of every Powerplay. Then we wonder why players come here and don’t succeed. Lunacy.

Bertuzzi @ ~5.5Mx4 (rumoured contract) Or Domi @ 3.75Mx4 Leafs chose Domi, for ~1.75M AAV less over the same term. They’re the exact same age. Domi could play C, actually outproduced Bert last yr w/less TOI, & more than doubled his PIMs. They probably made the right choice.

For a Leaf fan in their mid-30’s (like me) these playoff series were unmatched. So much hitting, fighting, & so much hatred. It was exactly what hockey’s supposed to be. #1 reason the game isn’t as entertaining as it used to be is because there’s very little hatred anymore.

Regardless of the standings, this is 100% the weakest Boston team in years. They’re still good, very solid, but definitely beatable. If the Leafs bow out to these guys this year, it will be one of their most disappointing defeats of this era’s 8. And that’s saying something.

I’m glad EDM didn’t win because I’m a jaded, jealous Leaf fan. At the same time it was embarrassing seeing FLA fans just stand there quietly recording Barkov’s Cup lift. EDM fans would’ve been nuts. Leaf fans would be bawling & losing it. 🇨🇦 rules and we deserve a Cup. GLG.
