A 19yo boy took his own life today after finding out he has HIV a few days ago. He only had one sexual partner, his first and only bf. I don’t know if he has depression, or suicidal tendencies, but suffice to say, he found life no longer worth living after finding out he has HIV.

One of my HIV screening clients is a heterosexual male who only had 2 sexual partners. He always uses condom, and even though his last sexual activity was just oral sex, he wanted to get tested because apparently the girl tested reactive to HIV. His result is REACTIVE.

This is the second time someone approached me saying they’ve been drugged and raped by guys from a party. The first one tested reactive to HIV, and is already taking treatment, and moving on with his life. This second one has yet to take an HIV test after the incident.

Why am I sharing this? First and foremost, to emphasize the fact that HIV is not a punishment for promiscuous people or the LGBT community. Even if you are not sexually active, or in a faithful, monogamous relationship, you can get HIV too. Responsible (safe) sex is the key.
