My deepest sympathies.
You've written our story too. My father. Sudden death, desicion to switch off life support. Decision to donate organs. The nurses. The doctors. The discussions. The laughs. The tears. Many grateful recipients.
My Dad passed Dec 2015.
Thank you for sharing.
Shane Warne was 52.He lived 50 years of that before Covid.
Using his sudden passing to support the narrative for the effects of Covid or vaccines is wrong, inappropriate & unfounded.
There is no identified causal link to either.
Please stop.
Please remember he has 3 children. RIP

While suppression is worth aiming for, to suggest elimiation is achievable in other countries is smug and from a position of privilege. Many countries cannot financially support their people to stop working/movement and providing for their families in low socio economic popns. 2/
I've thought about whether to say this this all day.
In 1997, when my sister died at age 17, "suddenly" at home peacefully,it was speculated by many as to why she died.
It was NOT put in her obituary why.

@DrZoeHyde
WA has advantages like no other with the very unique position of geographical location, ocean and desert borders, high socio economic popn, economy fuelled by mining.
Covid0 has been achieved through border mgmt not covid mgmt. The health system is under pressure without covid.1/

Deepti QTs author, with rambling faux manifestations.
Deepti then claims she has been bullied, author incited a pile on and she's being attacked by trolls.
Look in the mirror Deepti. This is your MO.
Nasty stuff.
It's becoming clearer & clearer to me, especially in recent months, many of the big covid cautious(zero/anxious/whatever) accounts are just nuts. They gained a following during Covid (people looking for consolation) that fed their ego and neuroticism & think this validated it.

Reading through my lawyers invoice, I got charged $73.50 for reading my email in response to an email they were running late to a phone meeting they had organised.
It said I was available anytime.
Bloody hell...I don't mind paying for expertise but legal billing is a joke.
Daughter has been pushing for a phone. I've been refusing.
Tonight I offered her this option as a solution. A dumb phone. To call and text only. She said that's why she needs it.
She's having a huge meltdown!
I thought the hot pink would ease the blow!
But I will not give in.
At 82% single dose and 67% double dose, 16+, parts of Tasmania are going into lockdown.

This is utter madness.
5 days from 70% double dose.
This has got to STOP.
So much of Aus is not mentally prepared for Covid.
@Lisa_Wilkinson
@GladysB
What is soft about this lockdown? There are tens of thousands of people with no work or depending on government support, there are businesses going to the wall, kids are not going to schools, majority of ppl can't move >5km, there are mental health issues, there is isolation.

This is extremely wreckless and irresponsible.
A random group called the World Health Network, who are NOT the WHO, have declared Monkeypox a pandemic and everyone thinks its the WHO.
This is disinformation.
And it's being shared by medical professionals.๐คฏ๐คฏ
@DrZoeHyde
Because WA is in a position like no other; a desert on one side, an ocean border on the other and a very sparsly populated state.
Not realistic for most.
A โMaskโ ๐งต:
There has been much discussion about the Cochrane Review on masks.
This is to give an alternative perspective on the effectiveness of masks, what it means and what inluences it, from someone who used to design masks for clinical use.
I gotta say I'm loving using the metro. Feels like Sydney is growing up. The smell of steel, the wind from the tunnels, the turn up and go. It feels like a proper global city transport system. It reminds me of living in other global cities. Can't wait for the rest of it to open.

Firstly, this isn't the same situation and totally irrelevant to this thread.
Secondly, the Irish border controls are one of the lightest in the world.
Thirdly, try being Irish entering the US during the 80s or 90s... now that's a grilling. Many detained for hours on end.
When a respiratory doctor and PhD academic/scholar on public health and medical science post these (see below) and claim vaccines induce long Covid, it undermines their professions, vaccines and the trust in the scientific/medical community.
They are incorrect.
I'm kinda dumbstruck how people nitpicked apart the Cochrane review (not saying I agree or otherwise) and then share widely findings from a study that hasn't even been written or peer-reviewed.
People have lost any ability for objectivity. This is nuts.

My parents are left with that grief.
As was I.
Left with that loss.

Hmm yes it sure is. My 2 (a little older) today put dish washing liquid in the bath and turned the water on to see the bubbles. Then walked away. I was on a meeting call. 30 mins later... screaming...it was out the door, in the hall. Bubbles and water everywhere. Yes, Going well!
However, at a population level, their benefit is limited.
Not because the filtration doesn't work.
They were never designed for use by the general public for a highly infectious virus for long periods (and repeated use).
For many, the usability of masks is a design fail.

Please be careful what you post. Omicron is not vaccine avoidant. It's vaccine evasive. The vaccines still offer excellent protection against hospitalisation, severe illness and death.

They're best ignored and not engaging with anymore.

The ejector seat analogy for vaccines.. its nonsense.
Vaccines prepare your immune system for the actual virus, in the same way years of flight training and experience prepare the pilot for an emergency. The antivirals or ICU are the ejector seat if all else has failed.

In my view, at an individual level, masks "work" because of physics.
They will reduce the number of occurrences one is exposed to the virus. It will not eliminate it.
I've probably just done the biggest, most grown up thing in my life.
I just had a conversation with my husband. Offering not to get divorced. But huge changes. Including changing where we live, his business, counselling for him, me and us as a family.
Huge changes coming.

This whole mask debate, cochrane study, RCT stuff. I really want to explain as an engineer(previously) who used to design masks (for another purpose) for 8hrs of wearing why the usability of it, impacts the effectiveness of is application.
But it will require a thread & I'm tired
2yrs ago I noticed some learning issues with my then 6yo child.

This is more a reflection of your own bias that the reality. Nothing we have done is similar to the UK or US. Higher vax on opening, QR codes, effective TTI, masks indoors, on & on. Perhaps you should look at the many countries & see the similarities to what we are actually doing

History is littered with people like you preying on the vulnerable offering them "non-evidence" based cures. There is a reason cancer patients and people in general are living longer. It's because of evidence based medicine. To say this to someone with cancer is despicable.
These masks meet those standards.
Masks โworkโ as per their intended use, to provide a barrier for the wearer in environments where the hazard exists.

Just become aware of the AJ unblocking. Had a quick look through his timeline.
He's a nasty piece of work. He's disingenuously posting screenshots that omit context and trying to cultivate anger and targetted harassment.
Don't engage with him. It's only feeding the beast.
Masks used for Covid mitigations were never designed or tested for use over long periods, for comfort, to be worn by the whole population.
Many were designed to be fit tested for seal and users trained.
@Tezziactivated
This is false information.
The Pfizer document it refers to is the protocol for the study, i.e. the instructions for observation and study. This is standard terminology and instructions. This is not an outcome. It has been widely debunked.
This is a good thread summarising the Cochrane review.
This is exactly my point.
Lab tests show one thing.
Real life evidence is completely dependent on compliance.
Evidence of effectiveness at the population level is not the same as evidence in individuals or in laboratories. At the population level, compliance is a key variable that may reduce the effectiveness of masks. 15/
@DrZoeHyde
Many do have their own internal economic source without relying on a level of open borders & movement of workers. For geo political & economic reasons, many cannot shut itself & its citizens off to the world. WA's elimination is achieved by location, not by covid mgmt competence.

Yeah, I agree.
Condoms can be designed and tested in a lab to determine if they do what they need to. The RCT is to understand what policies/education programs make people use them and properly. People need to use them to work.
People are getting the whole conversation mixed up.
Today, I was having lunch in a Cafe.
There was an older couple at another table.
They ate their food, got up, put on their surgical masks, walked out & down the street.
If they were concerned about Covid, it was 28C & there were empty seats outside.
It made no sense. Pointless
