It’s a little known fact that when running through crops a spaniel extends it’s ears vertically upright in order to listen out for a call, which it then proceeds to completely ignore.

Spectacular drone footage of old creeks in wheat on land that was reclaimed 150yrs ago. We’ve never seen them as pronounced as this before.

Here’s one for the teenagers, in Nov 1990 we filled the drill up with 2cwt (50kg) bags of seed and it only took 6 bags to fill it up! Imagine having to stop & fill up every 4-5 acres!!

The viners leaving to start on another farm, they’ve been here for 27hrs, covered 115 acres in 2 fields, & harvested over 200 tonnes of top quality AA grade peas that were frozen within 150 minutes of leaving the field to ensure they are as sweet as the day they were picked.
This is getting ridiculous, 633 Squadron is on the telly and we are only half way through November. What on earth are we going to watch on Boxing Day?

The bagged silage was then stacked up and each one tied with a cable tie, we tried other methods and found that cable ties gave a better seal. I don't know if wrapping was about in 1991, it certainly hadn't got to this part of sleepy Lincolnshire!!
May 1991, we took the took the baled silage to the yard and bagged it up, the guy on the baler needed to get the bales just the right size and shape to fit into the bags!!
Aug 1991 Extremely rare footage of Dad driving a tractor after his lifetime ban for bending the combine auger was temporarily lifted to drive a corn cart at teatime.
Sorry for the lack of obligatory Twitter action shot of my combine working, but the smoke haze when it’s running flat out makes photography pointless. Needless to say this will be the old girl’s 50th consecutive harvest, so we might have a celebration if we live to see the end.
In celebration of his 89th birthday today, a wonderful photo of my Dad aged 20 carting sugar beet in the snow with a David Brown crawler & Wheatley trailer during February 1955.
As soon as the viners have left the pea haulm is being baled and wrapped as silage for feeding cattle over the winter, the fields will then be cultivated and planted with broccoli that will be harvested in late autumn, to be followed by winter wheat drilled in November.
Harvest 1990, when I first saw this it brought a lump to my throat (& still does!) Claas Dom 76, JD 1188 & NH TF44 unloading augers in perfect alignment for a few seconds, it made the whole video and cheesy commentary worth while! That’s it for tonight I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
The badminton court through the seasons, Spring, Summer and Autumn. A change in the weather means it could get used tonight, hopefully the wheat seed will be gone by Christmas…….. 🌧🌧
October 1991, lifting potatoes with a 75hp 2wd John Deere 2650 pulling a 2 row Grimme Allrounder and the top picker driver at the helm. Admittedly it's in good going but we could easily lift 10-15a per day with this set-up, especially when they were going into bulk storage.
Oct 1991, the oldest tractor always seems to get relegated to hedge trimming duties, a cracking David Brown 995 + Turner Hydramower. Yet another tractor that I wish I had kept!!
Oct ‘98 John Deere 7600 & Kverneland LB85 6 furrow hydraulic variwidth plough, an amateur ploughman trying to come to terms with a sticking hydraulic turnover memory block.

Back drilling wheat in crazy conditions for mid November on land that was destined for sugar beet next spring, with wheat at £200/t for spring’23, no thanks
@BritishSugar
please try harder.
@NFUSugar
I managed to get the team to stop for 5mins & pose for a photo. A great bunch of guys this year, they’ve worked tirelessly in demanding conditions with unbridled enthusiasm. One of the younger ones mentioned something about air con & GPS, I said that I’ll look into it.
#harvest22
The 25 tonne self propelled 6 row beet harvester is struggling to travel in the wet conditions, so we’ve dragged the old single row Catchpole out of the nettles. The men aren’t too chuffed, but at least it’s quite warm outside.
A situation seems to have arisen that means that I might have to sell some assets to fund the purchase of paint brushes, paint and mower blades. Many congratulations to Alice & Dan! 🥰❤️
Aug 1991 John Deere 1188 c/w 18ft header and Claas Dominator 76 c/w 12ft header. Both great combines in their day, but they seem tiny in comparison to the modern ones.
Nov 1991, sterilising soil coming potatoes next spring, Boston Crop Sprayers came with a Rumpstad machine to apply Telone to combat eelworm in potato land. The land had to be ploughed and worked in front to get just the right tilth to achieve a perfect seal.
@Hutchinsons_Ag
Sept 1990 Yours truly chopping up vining pea land with a John Deere 2140 & 3.6m Falcon Sampo rotary cultivator. And a certain manufacturer says it’s a new invention??
Mid 80’s quattro, mid 90’s RS2, mid 00’s RS4.

I also washed my International 475, the first tractor I was allowed to drive on the farm carting wheat into Boston docks at the age of 16, we bought it new in 1978 & traded it in for a JD 2040S in 1983, I bought it back from a local farmer 20yrs ago. Seen carting beet in 1981.
A couple of absolute classics, unfortunately one might have to go, any takers? Both 2001 6910S, TLS, LHR, 10k hrs, one 50k 650’s + 540’s & front linkage, the other 40k 520’s + 420’s & hms, let me know if you’re interested??
@JohnDeere
Oct ‘98, John Deere 6400 with duals all round & improvised front weight pulling a 3 leg Spaldings Flatlift, loosening the ground in front of the plough for drilling wheat.
@JohnDeere
@Spaldings
Morning ladies,
Would you drill winter wheat in February or pay extortionate spring wheat seed prices.
Or simply fallow the land?
Nice dress by the way……
Oct’98, John Deere 6800 & Lynx front packer with a Kuhn Venta Ti401 combi drill, drilling wheat after veg, I’m still using the same setup but with a different tractor & 100hp more (which it needed!)

@KUHN_UK
Autumn 1991, lifting sugar beet with a 6 row Riecam harvester, John Deere 3050 & Armstrong & Holmes trailer. The eagle eyed among you might spot a Standen Solobeet working in the neighbours field.
Carrying out vital infrastructure maintenance, drain jetting clay land drains that were laid in 1972 as part of a government grant scheme. Being as they still run and the field has produced nearly 50 crops in that time, I think it was public money well spent.
Finally lifting potatoes on my farm, the majority of the field is going quiet well considering the year, the low areas are still very wet and are proving a bit trickier.
#Harvest23
Jan 1991 mucking out the cattle yards when the muck got up to top of the water troughs. Loading with the trusty old International 3434, a new Sanderson Teleporter replaced it a couple of months later. My JD 2140 on the trailer.
More weird and wonderful markings in wheat. We have last year’s tramlines, a 60 year old drainage system, 50-100 year old dykes and a thousand year old creek.

I had my JD 7810 on the dyno a while ago, the results speak for themselves, 2001, 10,400hrs, originally rated at 175hp, still pushing 171hp with 14% torque backup. You just can’t kill these old classics!

@BenBurgessAg
Autumn 1991, drilling wheat down the marsh in lovely conditions, a bit more John Deere 40 & 50 series porn, 3050 + 3.5m Kuhn power harrow, 2140 + 4m Kongskilde germinator, & 2650 + 4m Carier drill.
I thought my 7530 had some grunt, 2011, 8500hrs, originally rated at 180hp & still pushing out 196hp with boost. Fantastic power to weight ratio from a versatile working classic. 7810 results to follow…….

July 1991, we had a proper tractor on the pea cart, I probably ought to have been more aware of what was going on behind me rather than planning the next day's loading with the lorry driver. Notice I'm carrying a Motorola mobile phone, we used to hire one in for the pea season!!
Nov 1991, 2140 on a Kuhn 2.5m rotavator chopping cauliflowers up, nothing particularly interesting other than the fact we are still using that rotavator 31yrs later and it was 2nd hand when I bought it!
#Bombproof
April 1991, loading wheat with the Teleporter & new bucket, note lack of weigher and rollover sheet on lorry, and health & safety in general!
@n_w_francis
One in, one out, just freshening up the fleet with something more usable. (& considerably more expensive 🤯). The 2850 was sold yesterday and the 7930 came today.
@JohnDeere
July 1971, £175 paid for a new 4t Pettit trailer, still in use on the farm over 52yrs later and probably worth over 5 times its original price! It pays to look after your kit.
Chuffed & honoured to have been asked to display my 1995 Audi RS2 on the quattro Owners Club stand at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC this coming weekend. A bit of spit & polish and she’s come up a treat. See you there on Sunday!

An insight into potato growing in 1969/70, you could buy a harvester for £1700, put up a 500t store for £7000, blight spray by aeroplane and then get £11/tonne for your potatoes!
Planting potatoes in April 1990 with a Massey Ferguson 690 & Konings planter, (look away now) me riding on the top link making sure the seed is feeding correctly!! 🤯
March 1991 & the new Sanderson Teleporter 623 arrived at a knock down price, unfortunately as a result of Sanderson’s demise. It was soon put to work loading fertiliser into various spreaders and tractors. The Teleporter is still local and still good for a day’s work.
After flooding this winter due to failed 70yr old land drains, we are putting in a scheme to hopefully address the problem. Land drainage is only dear the day you pay for it, written down over the next 50yrs it works out at about £16/a. Many thanks to
@LincsDrainage
for a top job
Nov 1991, heaping up sugar beet, the new Teleporter’s honeymoon period is definitely over and I’m making sure that the safe load indicator is fully functional…..
Filthy & miserable outside so time to deep clean the cabs inside & out on the main tractors, if this weather keeps up we might have to start on the occasional fleet as well.
Harvest 1990, yours truly driving the amazing John Deere 1188. I spent many very happy days on this fantastic combine. If anyone knows of a tidy 1188 H4 SII for sale please contact me, I’d love one in my classic collection!!
Harvest 1990, for some unknown reason the local MF dealer thought we might be in the market for a new combine. There wasn’t a hope in hell that I would be buying a red one, but I didn’t turn down the demo!!
@KENNETHWILLlAMS
An era when chat shows set out to entertain the viewers with A-list guests, rather than the complete drivel we have now with a load of nobodies and wannabes.
Nov 1990, Simpsons of Fosdyke loading sugar beet for

with a specially made Sanderson Teleporter, I seem to remember that it wasn’t particularly reliable.
Oct ‘98, 1994 John Deere 6800 M370 TJL c/w duals all round, with the Kuhn 4002 4m power harrow that we use on the combi drill, hence the markers. Lynx 4m folding front press.
Oct 1991, JD 3350 subsoiling potato land before wheat drilling, although it was necessary then, the ground didn’t seem as tight as it is nowadays. Definitely a legacy of bigger, heavier traffic, which I am hopefully addressing going forward.
Sorry

I’ve finally run out of patience with your “computer says no” attitude to connecting my business to fibre broadband when there’s a junction box 25m from my premises. Numerous phone calls have come to nothing so I’ve gone elsewhere

October 1991, A bit of John Deere SG2 cab porn seen working & drilling wheat on ex potato land, 3050 & 3.5m Kuhn power harrow, 2140 4wd & Pettit 77 discs, 3350 & HD pigtail drag, 2650 2wd & Carier 4m drill.
This invaluable machine has just started it’s 12th consecutive week of drain jetting, it’s proving a sound investment and has given faultless service. The backup from
@fentonsofbourne
and
@HomburgHolland
has been amazing and a credit to the agricultural industry.
It’s tight underneath, but the John Deere 6250R is pulling the 5 leg TWB Terminator at about 12” deep and leaving a nice weatherproof surface for veg planting next week.
April 1991, planting potatoes, Dad demonstrating the prototype GPS guidance system by manually measuring out every pass with the power harrow. We must have had some late seed straight out of the 50kg bags, normally it was chitted over winter in trays.

Autumn 1991, for the poor souls with a liking of lesser makes of tractor, a Massey Ferguson 3070 and Larrington trailer supplied by the harvesting contractor Noel Hanes.
This David Brown Cropmaster was bought new on the farm in 1951, my father remembers driving it aged 16, I bought it back as a wreck last year and have given it a lick of paint to hopefully preserve it for a few more years. Thanks to
@DavidPRushmer
for selling it to me.
The new recruit has soon been put to work, doing exactly what it was bought for, rolling the wheat that was combi drilled last autumn and breaking up some of the clods.
Very original David Brown 770 for sale, 1966, rare early model with single piece nose section. New tyres all round, starts, runs & drives a treat. DM me if you’re interested.
