But despite that fact Denji was convinced by Pochita to fulfill the dream of the Control Devil in forming an equal relationship and giving her lots of hugs.
From Denji’s perspective the one girl that was meant to be different brings about the same type of trauma. Asa has so far been the exception to all his past experiences and I think this is Denji’s last straw.
Denji within this has lost his final connection to humanity. The dogs, his house, his friends, his sister and now the fabled girl who was the exception to the trauma. I see this as a Denji death sentence, and will be his final straw to embrace CSM in its entirety.
4/13
During this time Denji, Nayuta, and the pets have developed into a family. Nayuta and Denji have developed a familial bond and it is clear that their home has become a place where Nayuta feels the safest.
12/13
Nayuta was given a proper home and family. Nayuta was raised as and allowed to be a child. She has developed strong feelings of love and connection to the world around her. Denji have her everything she needed and because of that she couldn’t control Barem.
7/13
Nayuta still has many of the same innate feelings of a Devil, but due to her relationship with Denji of mutual respect she carries on as a child and finds some enjoyment from it.
5/13
This is not to say Denji has been a perfect parental figure, but who would be? (Theres not exactly a wikihow on how to raise the control devil). As well as this up to now in the story this was the only problem behavior from Nayuta. Protecting Denji and the house.
This chapter unfortunately fits perfectly into our narrative so far. Unfulfilled payoffs and cliffhangers culminating in the worst way possible. I haven’t watched Evangelion so I’ll let someone else speak to this. But getting what you wanted in the worst way possible is CSM.
11/13
Nayuta could not control Barem because in that moment she did not feel superior. Barem ripped away her world, family, and area of safety. She exhibits clear shock and seems almost desperate/helpless right after.
From Asa’s perspective Denji essentially confirms this interaction. She has no agency and because of that is a victim to his urge. Asa will likely close herself off from Denji and this sparks whether she will still “save” him or choose to weaponize him for Death.
9/13
Despite all of this there have been many indications Nayuta has more complex emotions than many devils and acts very similar to a child. She is very immature, loves denji and the pets, and has grown to respect denji as a parent which would not be typical.
Denji does not have the wherewithal to deal with these emotions, but he knows exactly how to be chainsaw man. Unfortunately this feels like the exact thing Fami was waiting for. Denji’s rejection of humanity and acceptance of becoming a weapon.
Asa and Yoru now have an excuse to turn Denji into a weapon, and this is where I see the end of Denji coming from later in the story. He will serve as a weapon of war and will ultimately pay the price for this. “Saving” Denji will not save him.
Our only small piece of happiness is that Nayuta is alive, but no one in the story will acknowledge this until it is much too late. Her block on the memory still being around shows she’s here but who knows where.
10/13
Now to tie all of this together. Barem was hit by a chain from Nayuta and seemed to be unaffected. He theorized this was due to him being under Makimas control still or his heart still belonging to her. I do not think this is the case.
This chapter was a cannonball to the gut and will always be. I hope you enjoyed if you made it to the end and stay strong and avoid Twitter discourse about this.
Unfortunately this is one of the most important CSM chapters and it has served its purpose in a cruelly effective manner. Things will never be the same and that is the real Prophecy. “The world forsake the Lord so He'll forsake the world.”

End of thread.
I want to credit
@Frojoe9
because his post about this inspired me to look into it and there’s probably so much more detail and intricacy that I missed. Feel free to add, critique and let me know your thoughts on it all.
It’s so meta how “famous” Asa is in memes and for online losers calling her a femcel. Like damn Asa being famous while no one really understanding her or appreciating what even makes her a great character/person. Damn where have I heard this before….

Yea it’s payoff in the worst possible way. This unfortunately fits perfectly in and was built to destroy everyone involved. It does that to a scary degree
@Winterflan
Freudian Slip on a cartoonishly placed banana and slide into a glue factory where you become covered in glue. Afterwards sliding to a feather factory. And finally having a red glove land in the precarious position to make it seem as if you are a chicken.
Dude does Fujimoto have the best skill for picking assistants? This is his 4th assistant to get their own manga which feels like a shit ton? And 3 of them being absurdly popular is crazy.
@SkyePosting
Yea I was being a bit silly with saying problem. Most of what I meant is that it puts her at risk of being hurt since she doesn’t seem to be a powerhouse
@rinneko1911
Yea I hate how people just call him a sweet boy bc he’s not a creep. Literally the most interesting part of his character is Fujimoto allowing him to be flawed 😭
Also a side not for Powerscalers who say true form Pochita would not come out to prevent Denji from dying that’s just not true by nature of either of the two contracts they made lol.
I love how they say he writes women and girls with more respect than most shonen, he addresses lgbtq+ identities and their experiences, and has respect for women centric manga. He very clearly is not perfect at these but what are we even doing here. What is the critique.
14k likes for a thread just for a man recommending other ppls feminist works. i wonder what y’all will say if i made a thread of him showing underaged girls like reze butt ass naked and and pretending to a be a little girl online like the weirdo he is
After rereading part 2 I am 100% convinced all the criticisms of "Slow pacing" and "No direction" is due to the weekly schedule. Part 2 is such a different experience when read all at once. It's genuienly a 10/10 when you don't have a bitch in your ear telling u it sucks
There’s this super weird sect of chainsaw man fans who seem to believe Fujimoto is legitimately stupid/unable to write with intention or make critiques of the real world. I just wonder how these people make it through life so unaware of these things. (Pic related)
This sequence honestly evokes some of the strongest emotions in the entire series for me personally, seeing how this all started as a means to an end and the paternal/sibling love of Denji erases all of it away in such a short time is truly powerful.
The Four Horsemen of the apocalypse are concept from the Book of Revelations in the Christian Bible that serve as the first “4 Seals” of the Apocalypse. They are released upon the breaking of each seal.
Nayuta starting with the feelings of a devil and Makima no less and moving to a goofy child who cares about school is much more sincere than her being completely innocent from the start. More emotion in overcoming your nature due to nurture than there is the alternative.
“Nothing defeats our king”
“Nothing will separate us from Christ eternal”
“We serve a warrior king”
These meanings are pretty easily seen within CSM. We have a symbolic “Jesus” who is seen as the savior and is immortal. With the title of Hero of Hell gained through combat.
@Young_Reezy_gg
yea there’s definitely something to be said considering she didn’t have control over him and whether that implies respect or some sort of healthy fear.
