Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) ✅ I decided that becoming a mom while a neurosurgery resident wasn’t hard enough so I also got my master’s 😂. In all seriousness, this was a fantastic experience to augment my clinical training and I’m excited about this degree.

The only answer to a medical student saying she or he wants to pursue surgery as a specialty should be “That’s great! Tell me more about your interests.” That’s it. That’s the tweet.
Grow into your confidence. It’s easy to live with imposter syndrome, but you have to appreciate how far you’ve come and how there are thousands of people who wish they could do what you do. Rock it! Own it! Take the absolute best care of your patients.

We are here for the 2023 AANS/CNS joint section pediatric neurosurgery annual meeting in Oklahoma City 🌆 I’m grateful to my husband who supports me attending the conference while he cares for our newborn daughter Lily. It’s our first of many conferences as a family
@PedsSection
This week I was in the OR a lot and did many complex neurosurgical procedures. But I also volunteered to place the foley multiple times and even walked a med student thru placing the foley. Team work makes the dream work!

posts. I am so excited for this group of wonderful doctors to start their next step of the journey! To those who matched neurosurgery, welcome to the best specialty in the world! 🧠
We had a great time with our 3 visiting Neurosurgery Sub-I’s: William Richardson, Krisna Maddy, and Matthew Farmer. Best of luck with your upcoming rotations and we hope you enjoyed your time at UNC.

[Thread] I only got accepted to 1 medical school but it only takes ONE! It was a newer school, too. But it was amazing and I loved it. I was told it would be tough matching into neurosurgery from a new school without a home nsgy department.
Congratulations to all the medical students who

today, especially those who marched
#Neurosurgery
. Welcome! For those who did not match, keep your head up and keep going! You will be a doctor and we need you.
I just got an email from my med school regarding a 5-year class reunion. Y’all… I’m still in residency and have 2 years to go.

I just watched

and it brought tears to my eyes literally every episode. As a neurosurgery resident, the stories of the neurosurgical patients were especially inspiring and close to home. It just reinvigorated my passion for what we do. It’s all for the patients.
I watch Patch Adams every couple of years and it’s always inspiring. “You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you'll win, no matter what the outcome.”
I am so excited to officially announce that I will be returning home to KY in August 2024 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Kentucky! I can’t wait to be UK’s pediatric neurosurgeon & serve the children & families of my home state! (1/2)
I received a very beautifully hand-written thank you card from a patient’s family member today. We certainly don’t do what we do for the thank you notes, but every once in awhile it’s so refreshing and lovely to be thanked. 🥰 Grateful to be a part of UNC Heath.
Congratulations to our neurosurgery chiefs, Dr. Randi Barnett & Dr. Martin Piazza! Best of luck in your pediatric neurosurgery fellowships. I am so lucky to have trained with you both over the years.

(2) That did not stop me. I then met my future husband in medical school. We decided to couples match ❤️. I was told that was even riskier for applying nsgy! We did it anyway, and guess what, we matched together at UNC! We both love our residency programs and couldn’t be happier.

"Kelly's OR Playlist" was a hit today in the OR. Had >6hrs of music going and everyone was into it! My very nice circulator also arranged it so "Closing Time" came on...you guessed it...while I was actually closing! What a success!
