Hozier calling for the end of occupation in Palestine and voicing his support for Palestinian statehood at his concert in Orlando last night.

I gotta say, it is absolutely wild to see my biological father—the most bigoted and evil man I’ve ever known, who I personally watched strangle my sister until she was nearly unconscious—get all this fanfare for years because he put a rainbow flag outside his restaurant once.
how sick would it be to have a giant fish tank in your bedroom with a hammerhead shark in it and ur just fuckin a chick while you look at your hammerhead shark
Amber was brutalized for years, raped with a wine bottle, faced litigation abuse in front of the whole world, and was terrorized to the point of leaving the country. You dressed as her abuser with a wine bottle prop like the one used to rape her. This is not a sufficient apology.
I haven’t spoken to my biological father, Keith Blauschild, in over a decade. The last time I saw him was the night he tried to kill my sister. But he is a constant presence in my life, in one way or another.
Keith Blauschild, owner of
@COOKANDCORK
, is the reason for my PTSD diagnosis.
Keith Blauschild is who I’ve cried about in therapy every week of my life.
Keith Blauschild is who I have nightmares about every single night until I wake up screaming, sweating, crying, vomiting.
There’s new Vampire Weekend music, but don’t let that distract from the sexual violence allegations against Ezra Koenig that have been floating around for years. This is a piece by writer and actress Tavi Gevinson, allegedly alluding to their relationship.
Why am I making this thread?
• I’m a former ATL fan of 10+ years.
• I have a BA in public relations and a Master’s in sociology with an emphasis on sexual + domestic violence.
• I worked in music for years.
• I’m a survivor of child sexual abuse and grooming by a musician.
It has been absolute hell to watch their restaurant receive constant praise, not only for their food, but also for their apparent dedication to “kindness” and “supporting the community”. These are the cruelest people I’ve ever known and the harm they’ve done is irreparable.
My biological father, Keith Blauschild, and my former stepmother, Dena Lowell Blauschild, abused my sister and I relentlessly for years. Physically, emotionally, psychologically.
They also own the esteemed restaurant
@COOKANDCORK
in my hometown of Coral Springs/Parkland, Florida.
Okay here’s my running list of brands who need to answer for their crimes:

Kik
Omegle

I’ve remained silent for so long—occasionally sharing my story in legislators’ offices while lobbying for domestic violence legislation, or in graduate classrooms while pursuing my M.A. and Ph.D. in the sociology of domestic violence—but never naming my abusers.
My name wasn’t included. My sister’s age was incorrect, reporting her as older than she actually was. More importantly, the entire narrative was false. It was a wild fabrication given by Keith and Dena Blauschild, with absolutely no consideration given for the victims’ stories.
Recently, I submitted a request for the police records from my childhood. Cops came to our house nearly a dozen times for the recurring violence, sometimes at our urging, but more often from the neighbors who heard the incessant sounds of children screaming and glass shattering.
To my surprise, other than the records of the 911 calls made, there were no police reports on file for all but one incident. This was shocking considering the fact that cops repeatedly came to our house, investigated, and even interviewed us.
However, what really prompted me to finally speak up and name my abuser is the fact that the one police report filed—from the last night I ever saw Keith Blauschild, after he tried to strangle my sister to death—was shockingly inaccurate.
Here’s what really happened: my sister and I, then 16 and 14, had been brutalized for years. This could be confirmed in many ways, as it was documented extensively by mental health professionals we’d visited through the years, many witnesses, countless texts, a dozen 911 calls.
Instead, the system failed us, in the same way it fails so many victims of domestic violence. But what happened in my childhood paved the way for my career. I went on to receive my M.A. in sociology, studying domestic violence with a full scholarship. I’m now working on my Ph.D.
In light of this, I strongly urge anyone reading this to share my story and hold Keith Blauschild and Dena Lowell Blauschild accountable. Please do not support them or their restaurant,
@COOKANDCORK
.
Meanwhile, Keith and Dena Blauschild suffered no repercussions for committing child abuse. They went on to become wealthy and successful. My abusers opened
@COOKANDCORK
and have been showered in industry awards and high praise. It has been sickening to watch, knowing what I know.
1. WAITING TO RESPOND:
Instead of addressing the (very serious) allegations when they first began to surface, All Time Low waited several weeks before acknowledging what was happening.
But make no mistake: I had to claw my way through the darkness, and it has not been pretty. I still suffer the repercussions of my childhood abuse on a daily basis. It has been devastating for my well-being, my mental and physical health, and my personal relationships.
As they are highly calculated and manipulative abusers who have shown no remorse or empathy in the past, I would not be surprised if they responded to this by calling me a liar, being cruel, twisting the story, or with any other typical abuser tactics.
2. ATTACKING THE ACCUSER:
All Time Low openly threatened legal action against potential accusers in their statement, making themselves seem even more guilty and defensive.
3. BEING EVASIVE:
When they finally addressed the allegations, they did not mention the main allegation of sexual abuse and grooming (which I’ll include below) and instead focused on a less serious and more vague Tik Tok allegation about having teenagers on their tour bus.
But here’s the thing: in one night, I cut off my own father and stuck to it for over a decade. That requires something pretty severe to happen. There are nearly a dozen police calls to our address. I’ve shared this exact story for years, though it took until now to name them.

@wagatwe
The worst part is that this isn’t even curated…just scrolled down and screenshotted the first replies I saw and they’re all awful
Additionally, I have a master’s degree in the study of domestic violence, with a full scholarship and summa cum laude honors. I’m working on a Ph.D. in the same field.
Some excerpts from
@COOKANDCORK
’s Yelp profile. I think these reflect the character of my biological father (Keith Blauschild) and former stepmother (Dena Lowell Blauschild) quite well.
It’s one thing to say “we behaved inappropriately but we know now that we need to grow up and do better.”
It’s another (totally inaccurate) thing to say “We have only ever wanted to cultivate and nurture a culture around our shows and band that is welcoming, healthy, and safe.”
4. NO ACCOUNTABILITY:
In the statement, All Time Low didn’t even admit to the things they objectively can’t deny, like acting inappropriately in concerts (making sex jokes or pretending to masturbate onstage) or making sexual comments to fans in the past.
@TillyItaliana
@oakiedoakiee
I watched the entire trial and have worked on actual research projects about it. I have a masters degree focusing on domestic violence and I’m currently working on a PhD in the same field. I asked them to elaborate because their statement was untrue and without any references.
5. NO CALL TO ACTION:
All Time Low did not name anything they were going to do to ensure that no fans are harmed in the future. Even if they didn’t admit to past harm, they could at least show that they’re taking it seriously by making some effort to prevent abuse from happening.
One of the main reasons for making this thread is that I’m constantly seeing tweets like:
“You wanted them to address it, so they did. What should they have done differently?”
This thread is your answer to those questions.
We need to do better and expect better.
The repercussions of All Time Low’s actions are devastating and have far-reaching consequences. Their litigation efforts against the victim are setting an awful precedent for the privacy and speech of all victims of sexual violence.

It’s beyond time to hold All Time Low accountable, and there are many ways to start. We should be talking about this, creating dialogue about sexual violence in the music industry. If people aren’t aware of the damage ATL is causing, we need to have this conversation with them.
6. ONE WAY COMMUNICATION:
All Time Low did not engage in any conversations with fans or other community members. They did not make any effort to listen to feedback from the people they claim to care so much about.
We need to be pushing back when other artists support All Time Low despite the allegations against them. We need to tell those bands we won’t listen to their music or attend their tours if they continue to platform abusers. We need to tell the festivals we won’t buy any tickets.
If you hear ATL playing on your local radio station, let the station know how you feel. Tweet them, comment on their socials, call and tell them that you want them to stop playing ATL. Radio stations thrive on listener support—so revoke that support until they do better.
If they were genuinely trying to do better, they would create an open dialogue and use their platform to fully discuss the rampant issue of sexual violence in the music scene.
@bornsicknic
Some guy proposed to his gf at the Shaky Knees after show in May. She said yes, Hozier congratulated them, and then she immediately turned around and asked Hozier if he wanted to marry her instead 💀
Turning off your replies, neglecting to name Amber in the apology, being totally vague, directing the apology to Twitter instead of the actual victim, failing to mention the steps you’re taking to educate yourself and do better… Yeah, this apology is garbage. Keep it.
I am truly sorry for the decision I made with my halloween costume/post. It was insensitive and thoughtless. As someone who has experienced and spoken out against abuse, I understand how wrong it was and expect more of myself. I hope you can accept my apology. I will be better.
This woman is being violently stalked and threatened with murder. The entire thread is absolutely horrifying.
Predictably,

did nothing.

Hi, Louise - person who actually studies this here! You are cruel and wrong and will live in well-deserved shame for your bigotry and fear mongering. Do better :)
